Why is it so hard to date withMacau locals?

I have tried to date with some local ladies I matched on dating apps but it’s either they back out and change plans last minute or try so hard to be conservative. I tried to slowly get to know them but they don’t seem to be interested in having a conversation then when I don’t send messages anymore they complain about me not messaging enough. Like wtf do I do? Just wanna have fun convo and some drinks.

Honestly, I’m at a point where I really need work and I’m willing to hustle hard for it.

I’m currently in Macau on a tourist visa and trying my best to find an opportunity before my stay ends. Filipina, fast learner, hardworking, responsible, and very adaptable. I may not have everything figured out yet, but I know I can work, learn fast, and connect with people well.

Background:

- BS Psychology graduate

- Licensed Professional Teacher

- Currently taking MBA

- Experience in HR, recruitment, admin, customer service, and life coaching

- Can do baking/cakes

- Basic hairstyling, makeup, nails

- Hosting/public speaking

- Writing/content/social media

- Can help with marketing, sales, assistant tasks, or operations

I can speak English fluently. I’m still learning Cantonese/Chinese but I’m willing to learn whatever is needed.

At this point, I’m open to almost any honest work:

HR/Admin, assistant, customer service, tutor, receptionist, service crew, hotel work, sales, marketing, or even helping small businesses grow.

I know I’m capable. I just need someone willing to give me a chance.

If anyone knows opportunities in Macau or nearby, please message me. Thank you.

Hello Everyone! I am a student from Singapore and I would love to receive postcards from anywhere in Macau! Can someone send me one? 🙂

Hello Everyone!

I’m a student from Singapore and I enjoy collecting postcards. I would be very grateful to receive postcards from anywhere in Macau. 🙂

If postcards aren’t available, I’d also really appreciate a greeting card, generic card, or even a small souvenir.

(like a keychain, rock, local snack, flag, ornament, cap, T-shirt, or handmade craft)

This is for my personal collection, and not for any commercial purpose.

If you’re willing to help, please leave a comment and I’ll share my mailing address with you.

Thank you so much in advance, and warm greetings from Singapore!

Taxi drivers in Macau…

Somethings never changed, was living in macau right before covid and remembered the taxi drivers being absolutely awful, rude and unhelpful.

This time came back home and used taxi after years the behaviour is even worse, there’s no AC and we asked him to turn it on but he literally just ignores it, he doesn’t allow us to roll down the windows wtf is this a sauna? the driver is arrogant and just plain rude even to us locals, why don’t the government do anything about taxi behaviours? feel like is quite a bad rep especially for foreigners visiting macau for the first time and experiencing similar issues

Interest in visiting / Homesick

Hola,

I'm a South American student currently studying in Australia and I've been a bit homesick looking at videos of back home when I came across one about Macau. From what I've seen, looks very familiar to some places I've lived in and yet so so different at the same time. It's sparked a curiosity and I'm quite interested in travelling just to explore and look around.

I'm not too keen on casinos which seems to be the top things that come up when I search Macau up, would there be plenty of other things to do? I'm definitely interested in the Guia Lighthouse, libraries and museums.

Gracias!

Is arriving at the Zhuhai border by 5pm safe enough to make a 9pm flight from Macau Airport?

Train schedules are not being my friend right now, so I can't get there any earlier than 5pm... was hoping this was at least potentially possible.

Has anyone here ever done the famous Macau Tower bungee jump?

If so can you tell me what it felt like and also what is the safety harness like?

Is the safety harness wrapped around your groin and abdomen? Is it fastened so tight that you can really feel it pressing so strongly against your abdomen and groin?

I'd like to do that bungee jump some time but I have a penile implant because of an injury a few years ago. There's a small reservoir of water secured behind the muscles in my abdomen, and then of course 2 cylinders inside my penis. The device is very strong and very well secured but I would like to know what does bungee jumping feel like particularly in the areas where the harness presses against your balls, penis and abdomen.

I’m Brazilian and I recently received a 100% scholarship to study at a university in Macau. I’m planning to live on campus, and the dorm costs around 15,000 MOP per semester.

I’d like to understand what the general cost of living in Macau is like for an international student, especially for someone from Brazil. How much should I expect to spend monthly on food, transportation, phone/internet, personal expenses, and occasional leisure?

I’m willing to live a very modest/simple lifestyle if necessary in order to save money, so I’d also appreciate advice from people who know how to keep expenses as low as possible.

Is living on campus a good option financially? Are there any tips for saving money as a student in Macau?

Thanks in advance!

Hi all, I have been a resident In Macau for a year now and would love to get a motorcycle license to make my commute to work easier. However I do not speak fluent Cantonese or Portuguese, would it be possible to do the theory in English? If anyone has gotten their license in Macau could you tell me your experience! Thanks a lot :)

Hey r/Macau,

I’m the founder of Acelera AI, a tech consultancy and distribution firm based in Florida. I’m flying in for the BEYOND Expo at The Venetian later this month to connect with hardware and robotics manufacturers, and I’m looking to hire two local freelancers or university students to join my team on the floor from May 27-30.

Role 1: Camera Operator (Raw Footage Only)

The Job: Shadow me on the expo floor and capture high-quality B-roll of AI hardware, robotics, and vendor networking.

Requirements: You must have your own professional mirrorless setup (4K preferred), a gimbal for stable walking shots, and a wireless lapel mic to cut through the expo noise. An iphone with a gimbal also works. Actually the Iphone set up is preferred.

The Best Part: No editing required. Just dump the raw files onto my portable SSD at the end of each day and you're done.

Pay: $200 USD / day ($800 USD total).

Role 2: Bilingual Lead Generation Assistant

The Job: Act as my business liaison and data manager during high-level vendor negotiations.

Requirements: Fluent in Mandarin and English (Cantonese is a great bonus). You need to be tech-savvy, comfortable approaching tech executives, and highly organized to log contacts and product specs using digital business card scanners.

Pay: $100 USD / day ($400 USD total).

The Details for Both Roles:

Dates: May 27 – 30, 2026

Location: The Venetian Macao

Passes: I will purchase your Expo General Pass so you have full access.

Payment: Can be made in USD, the HKD/MOP equivalent, PayPal, or Wise at the end of the event.

How to Apply:

Shoot me a DM if you're interested or know someone who is!

For the Camera role: Please DM me a quick list of your gear and a link to any previous event/B-roll work.

For the Assistant role: Drop me a brief intro about yourself and your language/tech proficiency.

Looking forward to visiting!

So I like to play blackjack a fair amount. Due to some rule differences in Macau, basic strategy might not be the same as what you on general blackjack sites.

https://blackjackmacau.casino/

I wanted this to be more confident that I was making the right moves, but also to see how "expensive" some mistakes were. Additionally, I wanted to have a reference to point to when some psychic Auntie tells me I shouldn't have hit my 16 against a 7 after the fact.

That being said, it would also be fun for me to know how other people play, so if you could actually NOT look at the above chart yet, and instead do this quiz of commonly misplayed hands first: https://blackjackmacau.casino/#quiz I'd greatly appreciate it! I'll share the results in an edit. So far, people are doing pretty well with these hard questions - about a 77% accuracy rate, though I have just been sending it to degenerate blackjack friends.

TLDR:

  • Wynn and Galaxy have the lowest house edge.
  • Sands is the most generous room comps (Unsurprising given their huge inventory)
  • MGM is pretty generous with food if you get set menus.
  • Despite the low house edge at Galaxy, the rating system seems a little harsh.

My comp data is small, but hopefully I can update it over time and have it converge at more accurate values. Blackjack comp data is very noisy unlike baccarat.

My personal favorite comp combo

If you can hit 150 points at sands (this is a guideline and subject to availability), you can get a pretty amazing suite on the weekday at four seasons grand suites. The four seasons site lists it at USD 3,000.

150 points will cost you about HKD 4,200 in theoretical losses. In blackjack, this will be about 1.1 million in wagers. In baccarat this will cost you about 340k in player bets.

I was pretty impressed by this as I would never really spend 3000 USD on a room. That being said, you don't really use much of it and it's a lot of space. So despite the sticker price, it's arguable whether its really worth that much.

I know that in the past, only vehicles with these additional Mainland plates could drive into the Mainland. I'm just curious what were/are the requirements to qualify for the plate?

And now that single plate cars can enter the Mainland as well, is there still any benefit to having the Mainland plates now?

I understand that many Macanese are also permanent residents of Hong Kong. Is this because of birth tourism? Moreover, Hong Kong does not prohibit Taiwanese and Macanese from having children in Hong Kong. Feel this is a very cool period, the child can be born with blue, green and red three color passports.

Hey,

I may be moving to Macau later this year for a graduate program and I'm trying to wrap my head around something that's been on my mind for a while. I'm HIV positive, undetectable and well-managed, and while I've done some basic research into local law and even reached out to a couple of institutions there (like São Januário Hospital), I still have this lingering anxiety that the paperwork doesn't always tell the whole story.

Everything I've found so far points to no legal restrictions, and the replies I got were reassuring. But honestly, official answers and lived reality don't always match, and that gap is what's keeping me up at night.

So I guess I'm just hoping someone here has actual experience, or knows someone who does. Does anyone know HIV+ people living or studying there? Any idea what ARV treatment and follow-up costs look like in practice for a non-resident student? Is the hospital system easy to navigate as a foreigner?

Any insight, even secondhand, would mean a lot.

Thanks

Hi everyone!

I'm a French exchange student heading to the University of Macau for the Fall 2026 semester (August to December). I've decided not to stay in the Residential College and would like to find a flat or shared apartment off-campus for around 5 months.

I have a few questions for anyone who has been in a similar situation:

- How did you find your accommodation? (Facebook groups, local agencies, websites?)

- Is it realistic to find something before arriving, or is it better to look once you're there?

- What is the average price for a room in a shared flat near the UM campus in Taipa?

- Any tips or things to watch out for as a foreign student renting in Macau?

Any advice or personal experience would be hugely appreciated. Thankssssssss a lot!
