Chongqing or Chengdu For 4 or 5 Nights

Guys I'm visiting China for about 15 days.

I'll be in Yunnan from around 19th May to 23rd or 24th May.

Then I will go to Chongqing or Chengdu (or both)?

What would be better to visit - Chongqing or Chengdu?

I'm 35 m solo traveller from Ireland BTW.

On my tour of China I want to a mix of all sorts of things including;

- having fun maybe with some beer in pubs

- sightseeing

- tourism

- visiting small towns and villages if I can, seeing the "real China"

Chongqing seems so cool to me because it's cybercity but I really like the idea of seeing the pandas in Chengdu.

I can spend 4 or 5 nights around these regions.

Which area should I focus on? Would it be stupid to try do 3 nights in the Chongqing area then 2 nights in Chengdu? It would be nice to soak things up and not be rushing everything but sometimes you can't have your cake and eat it too.

5 Days in Yunnan And Also Updating 15 Day Travel Plans For China

I fly to Yunnan from Hong Kong on 19th May.

I arrive at Kunming Airport at approximately 14:30.

I plan on spending 4 or 5 nights in Yunnan then moving up to Chongqing for a few nights on either 23rd May or 24th May.

Can anyone advise me of where to go, starting from Kunming Airport, for 4 or 5 nights in Yunnan?

I am open to a mix of sightseeing, drinking in bars, seeing the real China, small towns and villages. Basically a flavour of everything if possible.

Thanks :)

Alipay and Wechat Etc................

I'm visiting China in 1+ week and I downloaded Alipay but it's asking me to input my phone number. Obviously I don't have a Chinese number. I'm from Ireland but currently in Malaysia.

Do I need a Chinese number to activate important apps like Alipay, Wechat, Didi etc. I also need to start booking museums and tours etc so I'll do that on Trip today.

2+ Weeks Trip To Hong Kong and China

Hey everyone I have readjusted my plans so here is what I have decided on for now. I am prepared to make a few more adjustments so let's hear your advise:

15th May - Hong Kong

16th May - Hong Kong

17th May - Hong Kong

18th May - Macau

19th May - Yunnan

20th May - Yunnan

21st May - Yunnan

22nd May - Yunnan

23rd May - Chongqing

24th May - Chongqing

25th May - Chengdu

26th May - Chengdu

27th May - Xi'An

28th May - Xi'An

29th May - Beijing

30th May - Beijing

31st May - Shanghai

1st June - Shanghai

2nd June - Shanghai

...

Leave via Shanghai Airport 3rd June.

My questions now are:

- Does this look OK?

- Should I spend more or less time between Hong Kong/Macau? I planned on doing about 3/4 days in Hong Kong/Macau then entering Mainland China to explore that for the best part of 2 weeks.

- When I am staying in these regions I am very open to getting buses or trains to nearby towns or villages and spending days or nights in nearby towns and villages!!! Can people reccomend towns and villages that I should explore when I am in these regions?

- Instead of 2days around the Chonqing region + 2days around the Chengdu region, should I just do 4 days in one of those regions and it's nearby towns/villages? Or is 2 in the Chongqing region + 2 in Chengdu a good idea?

- For my 3 days in the Shanghai region I could perhaps do a day trip to Hangzhou or even 2 of those days in the Hangzhou region. I want to see the world's biggest apartment building there. It seems Shanghai is only about 45 mins away from Hangzhou on the fast trains.

For this trip to China I want to have fun. Enjoy a few beers in bars, maybe meet some nice friendly people along the way. See the fun stuff in cities. Do some of the tours and museums etc but also explore some smaller towns and villages etc if I can, to experience some of the "real China."

Has anyone here ever done the famous Macau Tower bungee jump?

If so can you tell me what it felt like and also what is the safety harness like?

Is the safety harness wrapped around your groin and abdomen? Is it fastened so tight that you can really feel it pressing so strongly against your abdomen and groin?

I'd like to do that bungee jump some time but I have a penile implant because of an injury a few years ago. There's a small reservoir of water secured behind the muscles in my abdomen, and then of course 2 cylinders inside my penis. The device is very strong and very well secured but I would like to know what does bungee jumping feel like particularly in the areas where the harness presses against your balls, penis and abdomen.

15 Days To Travel Around China.....?

I'm from Ireland. Flying to Hong Kong from Taiwan on 15th May. Will spend 2 - 3 days in Hong Kong and Macau then enter Mainland China.

I fly out of China on 2nd June via Shanghai.

Can people tell me what they think of my list:

- First visit Shenzhen 1 day

- Ghangzhou 1 day

- Then Yunnan 3 days

- Then Chongqing 2 days

- Then Chengdu 2 days

- Then Xi'An 1 day

- Then Beijing 3 days

- Then Shanghai and Huangzhou 2 days (1 day in each?)

Does that look like a good and achievable itinerary?

I removed some of the following places from it:

- Gansu

- Xianjing

Should I put those places back on the list in exchange for other places, or make any further adjustments?

Thanks.

Fast Rent Wifi Istanbul SAW

Has anyone ever used Fast Rent Wifi in Turkey before?

I'm arriving at Istanbul SAW at 21:55 tomorrow night. I just ordered a Fast Rent Wifi router for collection from the airport.

Is it easy to find the collection point and easy to return the devices?

I'm going travelling around China and a few other Asian countries for appx 2 months, starting in a few days.

I need a physical sim card because my phone won't accept esims.

Chat GPT tells me that I can buy a physical sim card - a Global World Orange Travel sim - or something like that. Said it will be about €50 out of a vending machine at Dublin Airport, or perhaps only €30 if I can buy it in a shop in Dublin City Centre. Says there's about 20gb data and you can top it up after 30 days.

Can anyone tell me where I can buy these sim cards at the best price in Dublin City Centre?
