Wait or not

hello everyone, i need some real solid advice on what to do currently in backgrounds with LAPD, attending PAT for san bernardino county sheriffs may 7 and for ventura may 16th, the commute seems horrible should SB or ventura hire me so im asking if i shod wait to apply for LASD again or not, I’d value and appreciate everyones opinion(especially current or from LA deputie) so i got non selected on march 20th 2026 from LA sheriff’s. this was because of employment, traffic, decisio making judgement and credit. i will elaborate and what these consist of.

employment: fired from job in January 2024 for cheating my time card, i came to work late but manually inputted i was on time. Quit a job without giving a notice in September 2025.

credit: had a card in collections from 2018, paid in full in 2021, that collection has now came off my report 2 weeks ago, i have a 100% payment history and a 750 cred score.

traffic: my BI had me only list any traffic violations from the last 3 years. My last ticket was august 2023 and I have an at fault Traffic collision from may 2025

With credit being close to great, no more traffic violations and with job firing + quitting w no notice being aged more and not as fresh will i have a shot? Thanks all sorry for the paragraphs

Second Withdrawal from the process in 2.5years

Hello guys,

Let me try to make it as short as possible, and hear some oppinions on my situation.

Moved to LA 2.5yrs ago from Europe, green card holder, married to US citizen, had a baby together, own our home, paying taxes, working at same job for 14 months so far.

Everything in order, no tickets, no drugs, alchohol or whatsoever, played sports my whole life (football/soccer), passed the VPAT twice super easy without even trying to get ready for it.

So, first time i applied mid july 2024, and went through multiple choice test, VPAT, interviews, submitted all my documents and PHS, got assigned background investigator. After few days, he contacted me, and said due to my lack of working history in US, it's the best i send them email and withdraw from the process, or they will DQ me because he can't do proper background check on me, since i just moved here and he doesn't have much to work on and do checks. He told me specifically get a job, work atleast there for 1 YEAR, AND RE-APPLY AGAIN, YOU SHOULD BE FINE THEN.

Be on time, no late shows, make connections/friends, do not call off from work etc.

That's what i did, found a job, still working at same place for 14 months so far, applied again for Deputy sheriff trainee, went through VPAT and everything.

Got assigned for another background investigator, only that he calls me few days after and tell me that in best of my interest would be to send them email and withdraw from the process, or i will most likely be DQ due to lack of credible history in US. Little to say i was surprised/mad/disapointed since i put a lot of my time and effort, and really wanted to get this Deputy Sheriff position. I told him what last background investigator told me, in my first application process, all he said was that i got wrong information from him.

He now tells me that i need atleast 5 years of me living in US, and then i can apply again.

At this point, i don't know what to think of it, are they just wasting my time and giving me wrong info or what is happening ?

Share you thoughts please, so i can better reason all of this.

Thanks to all 👋

Dq’d last June

What’s up peeps, got disqualified in the polygraph last June due to an at fault accident in 2021 and a speeding ticket January 2025. Haven’t applied anywhere else (BI said to reapply that next June and said you’ll get in), so gonna try again this coming June. BI said he liked my auto biography said I would be a good fit (have 2 years of Explorer experience). So anyway my honest question for some of you guys in a similar position is, was he blowing smoke or do I have a good chance? Any of you guys get disqualified then waited that year then reapply? And What did they say to y’all?

Welp it’s okay

I am 22 it kinda hurts but I will just apply when I am 25 or 26 to other agencies I am interested in .I probably got a non select due to lack of employment when I was in overseas with my wife waiting her green card interview, and my work history sucks, They made me wait 3 hours I came early because I wanted to avoid traffic but it is what it is l.

Poly

So my poly was scheduled for tomorrow but a detective called and said my exam has been canceled because the examiner wasn’t going to make it he let me know that everything was good that not to worry that it happens and that he was gonna let my BI know, but he didn’t have an exact date when it was going to get rescheduled is that normal?

Background opinion

I’m looking for some feedback. I recently had my background investigation interview, and it went really well. My investigator mentioned that nothing in my file was concerning, and that a polygraph would be scheduled—he just needed to finalize a few details. Fast forward, I was indeed scheduled for the polygraph, which I see as a positive sign—my investigator said it means my background cleared. He also told me that once the polygraph is scheduled, it’s a pass or fail, and it’s out of his hands. The challenge I’m facing now is that the property where I live just went up for sale, so I’ve had to move, which brought on additional expenses. As a result, I’ve had to start looking for a new job. My concern is, will starting a new job and changing my address affect my chances of being hired?

Will that hiring freeze for LASD affect those of us currently applying or in the process of background interviews and polygraphs?

Did you take your Poly before the ride along and jail tour? Or did the jail tour and ride along and then the poly? Also What did you wear for this suite and tie dressy shoes?
