(23M) Moved back from college to Kirkland. Should I just call it quits and move to Queen Anne 💔

Loved growing up in Kirkland but since I came back from college I feel like I haven’t seen anyone my age anywhere. I’m wondering if there’s a spot where under 25s hang around or if everyone in that age group has just been priced out of Kirkland. Thinking about moving to Queen Anne to surround myself with less young families and more people my age. Has anyone else made a similar switch or has had a similar experience?

Absurd Electric Bill - Is This Normal?

Recently moved here from the Phoenix area and I’m shocked to discover my electric bill is higher here.

$230 for a modest 2 bedroom 2 bathroom apartment with no AC.

I’m super careful about turning off the lights and electronics and very conservative with the heating.

Is this normal?

TrackAIPAC Endorses Hunter Gordon in WA-01

Suzan DelBene's primary challenger Hunter Gordon has received the endorsemet from Track AIPAC.

Besides not taking money from AIPAC, he calls out Israel's actions as genocide, recognizes Netanyahu as a war criminal, and supports following the Leahy Law by not sending weapons to Israel.

DelBene's voting record matches her campaign contributions, receiving an F grade for continually voting to fund Israel's genocide.

Have you been here before? It’s my first time seeing an event like this, so I’m planning to go this year.

Would anyone like to play pickleball or volleyball at the Google campus tonight?

I have my volleyball and I’m going home to get some paddles and a pickle ball. All skill levels welcome.

Edit:

I found players there! Lucky me!

Kirkland singles: Thruline coffee shop this Friday

Kirkland Singles- let’s actually do this

Thruline Coffee Shop- 4/24 from 12:30 to 2

There’s interest in meeting other singles around here, so instead of overthinking it, here’s something simple:

No event structure.

Just show up, grab a coffee, and work, read, or hang out.

If you’ve been wanting something more natural than apps or forced events, this is an easy way to try it.

Feel free to comment if you’ll be there so we can get a sense of numbers.

Best place to meet single men?

I’m (37F) newish to the neighborhood. Where’s the best place to meet eligible bachelors? I’d prefer to meet someone out and about instead of the apps. But it seems like men here don’t really approach women in the wild- am I wrong?

Kirkland Singles: would you try this?

It seems like there’s interest in meeting other singles in Kirkland, but in practice people don’t often approach each other in public spaces.

Would a low-pressure “work from a coffee shop” day/time for singles work better? Not a dating event, just people working remotely in the same space and being open to conversation if it happens naturally.

Curious if people would actually show up or if it would still feel too awkward.

New Kirkland City Council Rules on Deck... but Inadequate

I don't know how many of you keep tabs on Kirkland City Hall. But in case you don't...

Well, Alex Tsimerman keeps coming down there and hurling hate at Deputy Mayor Neal Black. The City Council and Staff are working on comprehensive changes... that don't address Tsimerman. The same Tsimerman who used to use Kirkland's permissive environment to lob hatefests at Bellevue, Redmond, and others.

Now we have an opportunity to stop Tsimerman. One opportunity.

Seemingly the Kirkland City Council after being lobbied hard to use Redmond has decided to offer up... Bellevue. Which is good for the anti-Tsimerman coalition.

Why?

The Bellevue City Council’s latest procedures in Resolution 10544 has this:

>C. Rules for Public Participation
4. Public comment shall be limited to matters relating to City of Bellevue government. Public comment may not be used for the purpose of assisting a campaign for election of any person to any office, or for the promotion of or opposition to any ballot proposition except when the Council establishes a comment period for a ballot measure under RCW 42.17A.555(1).

At least Kirkland is considering exclusion policies for up to 180 days. But without the above, Tsimerman will just get to keep hurling his hate and slink away.

If you want Tsimerman's hate to be stopped: We need to call into Kirkland City Council Tuesday night as per instructions here and be politely clear: Proclaimations are one thing, actions are what counts. Amend the proposed Kirkland Council Rules please to add Bellevue's C4... thanks!

See: We don't need to have Alex Tsimerman speeding up to Kirkland in his black Mercedes and hurling antisemitic hate, mistruths, and more hate not just about Kirkland but also about Bellevue, Redmond, King County Housing Authority, Sound Transit, etcetera. We just don't.

Never again means never again. Got that? Now let's go fly-fight-win this one on Tuesday Night...
