Who are your GOATs?

Considering Kingdom has one of the greatest casts ever, who are some of you guys’ favourite characters? (Shoutout to anybody who can narrow it down to 1 absolute favourite amongst this generational cast)

Fun fact

Real life kanki run away from battle and no one actually know if he died by wounds and blood loss or at old age or the solders the king sent actually killed him....the only character the author changed everything about just because fans liked him

Yokoyoko is Shin's Akou / Tou [manga spoilers]

I have a theory that Tou originally was probably from some form of hermit/ independent/ wasteland village, especially with that extra chapter of his with his master/ father.

In some Rinko fashion, Ouki probably adopted him.

With Akou, we all know, he was a general from another doomed state Ousen helped bring down. Ousen shared his dream with Akou, Akou believed in him and his cause and joined him.

So, with Yokoyoko, I feel that the Hi Shin and former Han troops will integrate, with that, Yokoyoko would become a sort of tertiary adjutant (after En and Sousui), but he would be strongest and most capable.

I really hope that comes to be, because that will be an upscale as becoming that type of awe/loyalty/inspiring great general.

He already has that air(Yokoyoko) and responsibility. The last time we saw him bringing up the rear while also pushing Kaine back and keeping up with the rest of the army, and he also saved En by jumping into the fray at a climactic moment.

Now, with the possibility of Shin directly facing either Gaku Shou or Riboku or both, Yokoyoko is going to play a pivotal part as Shin's vice, considering that the morale of the Han will be one of the major factors to consider; not only that, but his eye for strategy would also be a major advantage.

https://preview.redd.it/d8h7tqkhzlyg1.png?width=1074&format=png&auto=webp&s=f3f82eaba11bdc64e3da56a1fd3d39a4c5299733

Not only that, but it seems to me that Shin got Yokoyoko's respect during Eitei, and that moved Yokoyoko to join up with Shin, especially as other armies from Han went to Ousen as well. Yokoyoko stayed with Shin. I mean, yeah, we don't get to see his expressions, and there's some ambiguity on that point,

https://preview.redd.it/ejfni8vd3myg1.png?width=302&format=png&auto=webp&s=54af24a5420a621f3f8057aab6855a575cb5dc68

But Yokoyoko heard Shin speak of unification, the fire of will and the fire of life, and then saw him back up his beliefs with actions.

Any honourable man would respect that, including Yokoyoko

We see him witness both the speech and the backing with actions, i.e., Shin killing Haku'o koku, and then she chooses to lead the Han army.

He chose Shin, that's clear, the reasons are unclear though

He could have chosen to go with the guy he knows best, whose beliefs, dreams, and intentions are clear. and the guy who is most similar to Rakua Kan.

Meaning he could have chosen to follow Shin, as Shin is not like other generals who would discriminate against him and the troops, especially after Nanyou.

Shin has proven himself a worthy leader to follow, and Yokoyoko has chosen to follow him, in the same way Rakua Shou will probably become Kyou kai's lieutenant

Meng Tian (蒙恬, Mō Ten)-After defeating the nomadic Xiongnu, the option was to continue building the Great Wall (a war-oriented mindset).

https://preview.redd.it/wmx3cgazqnyg1.png?width=2304&format=png&auto=webp&s=5743399bf3a5cf66fe32d9cd9c9e90222cdf7271

Wars between the Chinese and nomadic peoples began long ago, even before the famous Han-Xiongnu Wars.

China's border states, such as Qin and Zhao, fought wars with the Xiongnu on more than one occasion.

https://preview.redd.it/k1ysy9c9rnyg1.png?width=311&format=png&auto=webp&s=b246de0c105a4f121dda3d9b461f20ae36fb6bfa

After defeating the Xiongnu, the Chinese continued to build the Great Wall.

This leads to an interesting point: why did the Chinese still choose to build that wall after winning wars?

Essentially, this reflects the difference between nomadic peoples and settled civilizations.

In short, unless you completely kill all nomadic peoples or force them to flee to other regions, building a wall is often necessary. To prevent them from returning

Nomadic peoples are homeless; they lack permanent cities. They live in grasslands and deserts. They possess large numbers of horses.

After defeat, they often flee to other regions.

In fact, this has happened countless times in Chinese history.

Han–Xiongnu wars - Wikipedia

The Han Dynasty completely defeated the Xiongnu, and some Xiongnu people fled to other regions, eventually evolving into the Hun (confirmed by DNA testing).

Tang dynasty in Inner Asia - Wikipedia

The Tang Dynasty conquered the Turks, but some Turks refused to accept Chinese rule and migrated to other regions.

Yongle Emperor's campaigns against the Mongols - Wikipedia

The Ming Dynasty destroyed Mongol rule, and early Chinese invasions of the Mongolian steppes led to several Mongol migrations to what is now Russia.

Kingdom 874: The Third Army

We’re bacc again and to put it simply we are on BREAK. This is a magazine break not a Hara break so expect another one in 3-4 chapters. Also, this chapter LEAKED last week and we don’t work off leaks we wait till the chapter is officially released and we don’t translate off of translations.

That being said s/o to Benkei and yZero the goats they make my life easy when it comes to this.

And as always mark your history spoilers and don’t be a jerk. Just because you know how to use Wikipedia, doesn’t mean you need to spoil it for those that want to enjoy the series without knowing every future detail.

Hyou Shiga is goated

He was ready to cut down Kanki after he disrespected his King. He didn't give af even if Kanki was one of Qin 6 generals.

The most satisfying thing is how he almost cut down that annoying Kokuou after he casually broke her sword.

Watching Riboku no diff Ousen right after the death of my favourite character was so hard as a Riboku hater💔…I have to give him respect.

Also I really hate Ousen in this scene. I think the way he values his subordinates lives makes him short of great general of the heavens to me.

Need some advice

So, I just started reading Kingdom, and I’m really enjoying it so far. I’m currently reading the VIZ version volume by volume because the quality is much higher, but VIZ only releases one volume per month, which means it will take me years to catch up.

Is there any way I can binge Kingdom in high quality with the same translation as viz?( I tried reading other translations but the quality sucked and the names are different)

Which of Ousen's strongest fighters, Akou or Shiryou, was more impressive, and who would win in a fight between them?

I would put both of them at around the same level.

I think Shiryou would win in a duel though, as she simply has more impressive feats . For example, she killed Shibashou's strongest vassal, Jiaga, with a broken arm after fighting both him and Kansaro at the same time, which is a truly insane feat, beyond any of Akou's imo.
