I keep getting random people telling me they love the look of the car.

2025 Kia Niro SX Touring

I'm in my driveway today and there is some road work going on and a construction worker stops and tells me unsolicited that he loves the way my car looks and asks what kind of car it is. This happens to me, a couple of times a month, in parking lots, at Costco, at the grocery store, parked at the local park. This color combination and the stripe strikes some people so well they actually ask about it if they see me near it.

I could understand a Lamborghini or some sort of fancy muscle or sports car. But this is a Kia. It's making my wife crazy.

Had to share

Did the HEV or PHEV actually save money on gas?

I'm deciding between the cross sized kia vehicles and the difference between the models & trims i'm looking at is close to what i spend on gas.

i mostly drive in the city but i don't have high mileage so i'm mot sure if it's worth upgrading to hybrid. i'd love to know your experience.

Prefer manual or auto smart regen?

I’ve been using the paddle shifters and the smart regen a lot lately in my Niro and love it, but was curious what everyone’s experience is with doing it manually (with the paddle shifters), or using the auto smart regen where your cars sensors assist in the smart regen.

I use it a lot in stop and go city/suburb traffic and find it helpful; but I’m also wanting to use it for best possible MPG and smoothest experience in traffic so was curious if anyone prefers doing it manually or with the sensor aides. Currently I use the auto smart regen and set it to level one or two to slow myself down with the auto mode; then stop the car with the paddle shifter assuming there’s a safe distance to do so.

Thanks in advance for anyones advice and insight!!

Cautionary tale of level 2 charging

I've got first gen Niro and live in a warmer climate. Recently I installed a level 2 charger to have faster charge times and take advantage of excess solar generation. However, my battery capacity started tanking fast. Dropped about 20% in one month of level 2 charging. So, just be careful for those with a first gen Niro. I'm abandoning my level 2 charger and exclusively using level 1 now. I guess the first gen Niro have air-cooled batteries while 2nd gen get liquid cooling so I'm thinking it's just heat damage. Even took it to Kia dealer to check the cooling system and they said it was operating fine. Not really much I can do about it at this point, just sucks that I've lost that additional range forever. Anyone else have something similar happen?

Headrest & Seat Covers?

Hi everyone, I just picked up my '26 Niro HEV (EX) yesterday.

I love how comfortable the seats are but I'm worried about the light color fabric. Has anyone gotten seat or headrest covers that fit the unusual shape?

2023 KIA NIRO HYBRID

Anyone have any input on this particular model?

I wanna buy one but there's so many mechanics online that shit on Kia and Hyundai (I guess they're the same?)

Anyway there's a vid on YT that shows some of the digital stuff on the dash acting wonky. And people commented that their engine essentially just lost power out of nowhere?

Any input would be appreciated from anyone that's been driving this particular model.

Thank you!

HEV Fuel Efficiency

I have a 2025 Kia Niro HEV. I recently refueled it to full tank and noticed that the fuel indicator did not even reduce by one bar after driving for 70+ miles, while the average computed is around 52mpg.

I belive Kia Niro has a fuel tank of 11.1 gallons and there are 12 bars in the digital display, which means each bar should represent less than a gallon of fuel usage (if every bar equates to equal amount of fuel in the tank), but here I have definitely driven a lot more. Anybody has any idea if every bar out of the 12 means the same quantity of fuel or how the math is done?

Btw, after I clicked this picture, I lost the first bar on the fuel indicator after about 82 miles of driving.

Joining the Niro family

Insurance totalled my 2022 Elantra HEV last week, but I found this 2023 Niro EX HEV as a replacement and I'm pretty happy about it! Single owner, only 23k miles.

Actually parked my blue Niro next to a red one someone else had. 🚙❤️🚗

My local dealership had my blue 2026 ex hybrid all alone for over 150 days or so. So I know my guy hasnt been parked next to a Niro in a while. Saw this red one on my lunch break. They look pretty cool together. 😎

Anyone in MPLS/St Paul willing to let me measure a Niro for some cash?

Like it says! I need one for my job, but I'm not sure if I can make stuff fit. I'm a building inspector. My minivan is dying and I'm not eager to keep getting 24 MPG.

I don't want to visit a dealer, because I don't yet know if I want this particular vehicle. Dealers will send me emails and phone calls. I don't want to hear from a dealer (unless you are a dealer and you promise you will never take my information or call me... I'll buy you lunch).

My tool kit is very specific and I'll need to spend some time thinking about how everything might Tetris together. I'll put nothing in your vehicle. I just need to spend some time thinking. I tried Turo but there's only a first gen on Turo.

Looking to measure the interior of a newer Niro for cash. DM me if interested. I am just north of St Paul but can drive wherever. Thanks!

Red Box > Black Box

After 20 years it was time to retire my beloved 2006 Scion xB.

I ended up going for this LX and so far am very happy. Over 55 mpg in its first 800k is just awesome.

Can anyone tell me if this is bad for the lifespan of the car?

I regularly haul about 220lbs in my cargo area mad about 150 off my hitch. My rear suspension rides low as a result. Other than advanced wear on the suspension is there anything else I need to worry about?

23 phev battery range

Recently bought a used 23 phev but the range is only showing 27 miles after the most recent full charge. Any ideas on what’s wrong? It was 70 degrees outside.

Possible upgrades

I got my LX two weeks ago and am wondering what possible aftermarkets add ons are recommended.

For example cargo cover, extra cup holders for the backseat, rubber floor mats, mud guards, spare tire.

I’m curious what any of you have done and can recommend.

They said it couldn't be done

EV almost all the way on my recent highway commute! 2025 PHEV. The engine ran for a minute or two but not enough to dent the mpg.

I posted a while back concerned that my battery wasn't giving me the advertised mileage, I didn't think the weather was cold enough to be a problem but as it has continued to warm things have indeed improved, which I'm very happy about.

Just picked up my new (to me) Niro!

Just picked up a 2019 Niro PHEV and I'm already loving it! Getting used to the beeps and chimes of its driver assist features is gonna take some time though coming from a car who's most advanced feature was cruise control. Any tips and tricks for a new Niro owner?

2022 kia niro lx standard hybrid battery

This morning my fiance got up and went to start our kia and it was locked and nothing came on. Used the 12v reset button everything came on and no lights were on the dash indicating the battery wasnt charging and its never had a battery drain issue plus no lights were left on. I've done some research but its difficult to find solid answers. I read it might have an integrated battery in the hybrid battery. If that is the case is the auxiliary battery even able to be changed without changing the big high voltage battery? Because if it cannot be changed thats going to total our car its over 100k miles and 3500 to 6500 to change it is not in the book right now

Missing Phone Projection option

Attempting setup on my new (to me) 2025 Niro EX. Following the manual on p27 says:
press Setup -> Device Connections -> Phone Projection Settings -> Android Auto.

However, I can never get there, as I'm not presented with the 'Phone Projection Settings'. It's missing.

I can create a Bluetooth connection and play music and use the car/phone, but have no access to Android apps. Any ideas? Thanks.
