I'm not from CA and I'm not familiar with Drakeo the Ruler's music, influence, or movement. I heard about his death in 2021 and how he was killed by YG affiliates. Anytime I go on X, it seems that I keep seeing this narrative about Kendrick biting Drakeo on GNX or not properly giving him credit. For those who listen to Drakeo or are from LA, do you think that Kendrick bit Drakeo? Also, is it true that Dot never gave him credit? If true, what are the politics that would have prevented him from properly crediting Drakeo?
Like I pretty much knew every reference and double entendre from Euphoria and Not like us but I don’t remember seeing one for 616 in LA holy shit.. it was super underrated during the whole beef. Kendrick is a rap demon.. there’s no way this dude is human not even trying to glaze.
IDK if anyone here can help me out. I'm in my 50s and my favorite thing to do on my days off is put on reaction videos of anything Kendrick related while I work around the house or relax. I've seen just about everything at least once and a few several times, and my favorite ones are ones that have someone my age in them. Stuff like Josh Jones, Bridging the Gap, Rio Reacts, Stallworth Jones (anyone know what happened to his stepdad? They used to do a lot of videos together and one day a few months ago his dad just stopped being in them).
My YouTube algorithm is a real pain, showing me the same stuff all the time and even with very specific searches like "Kendrick Lamar reaction" sorted by "unwatched" it will just show me the same old stuff. Then out of nowhere, recently I've been seeing smaller channels' videos of GNX and the superbowl from years ago that it refused to show me previously.
So I figure there's got to be more out there that aren't coming up in my searches. Would appreciate any recommendations.
How has this song aged for you? What do you think of both artists runs since this song dropped?
Yo why tf is Instagram recommending therapy.. like wtf.. i aint even depressed
Does anybody else hear the whispering at 1:26-1:28? Anyone know what is being said?
Do y’all hear SZA saying “All the stars are closer”, or “All the stars are close up”?
Nardwuar asked Baby Keem about his old Minecraft YouTube videos and whether he ever played Minecraft with Kendrick Lamar 😭
"We didn't start playing games until later... We were doing a little bit of UFC, a little bit of FIFA... it's rare you get to play video games with Kendrick."
Keem also said his favorite song at the time was Kendrick’s “Rigamortis” — he even used it as a tag on one of his old YouTube videos.
Yall think hes good or mid?
Kendrick did it way back when, wonder if we'll ever see another kdot one
actively watching it, baby keem really likes football (soccer)
Kendrick apparently rarely plays video games besides FIFA
Edit: Seeing this post go down like a lead balloon with a majority of y'all, I have a genuine question. How do you rationalise Drake wearing the same outfit(s), copying the same dance moves, copying the same pose, copying the same location, etc, as being a 'reach' or a 'coincidence' when he is dissing the people he is copying these things from? Genuinely curious to hear people's perspectives on this. Why do you think the dude who is dissing lyrically would be beyond dissing visually in the music videos for these records?
Dude calls himself 'the petty king' and you think he's past being petty?
Set on a gradient from solid to reach territory.
The visuals seem to have been overseen by X8/Red Lebanese - a publishing house / creative studio out of Paris. The visuals themselves are genuinely very well done, but ... are they setting ol' boy up? Some of these make sense as subliminal disses, whilst others just seem kinda fanned out.
What do y'all think?
