We live here, stop treating it like a dumpster.

Is anyone else sick of all the litter? Why aren't there more garbage cans in our greenspaces and on our trails?? I am not just on reddit complaining. I have actively been walking around with a garbage bag picking up all the trash cause my dog ate a candy wrapper whole and I am absolutely fed up! To the dude who keeps throwing their poop bags in the trees, F U in particular. I am mortified to have family and friends visit because my neighbourhood is turning into a literal dumpster.

Finally to the group of young boys who fish next to the bridge on the monahan trail, the piles of garbage you leave behind could have killed my dog, i dread to think what its doing to the wildlife. I am going to start calling by-law and conservation every single time I see you fishing illegally. You left hooks just lying next to the path.

Panhandling scam

PSA: Please be cautious of the panhandlers outside of T&T Supermarket Kanata and Costco. Some individuals are pretending to be vulnerable Muslim women in need and in order to gain sympathy. I’ve seen others buying groceries or giving money to them.

I personally find it extremely disrespectful to exploit religion, culture, and people’s kindness this way, especially when it targets individuals who may genuinely want to help others and are unaware of this scam. Look this up if you want more info, it’s been increasingly common around Ottawa, Toronto, and other major cities.

To the girl on the bus in Kanata Centrum at 3PM

I literally never do anything like this, but we locked eyes from across the street and I really wish I could have asked for your number. If you happen to see this, please reach out. Sincerely, guy walking his dog.

Ride-share parking

My friends and I are planning to park somewhere closer to 417 in Kanata and do a ride share after 5 pm, once a week this summer. We will be away for 3-4 hours.

What are some free and safe places to park the cars closer to the highway?

Can we park at Park n Ride on Eagleson or is it only for OC transpo commuters?

Is the Walmart parking lot at Centrum another option?

Thank you.

Rogers Interet Outage

Anyone know when this Rogers outage will be over. I’m in Katimavik near Hazeldean and Eagleson. As usual, they are useless over the phone. Using my cellular as a hotspot to get through the workday. Been down a couple hours now.

Dentist recommendation

Hey all, I'm looking for recommendations for a decent dentist in the area that's not too pricey but still does decent work. A few years back, when I was on college insurance, I went to Villanova on my mom's recommendation and they really did not sit well with me, so basically looking for any place but there.

Looking into renting an e-bike, people's experiences for possible commute to work

Morning all!

Traffic sucks, and I'm debating the efficacy of an e-bike for my commute from Kanata into the core. I imagine at this point the drive in would be just as long as it would be if I were to bike.

Does anyone have much experience with using an e-bike to go from Kanata to downtown for work? Roughly how long of a trip is it? Are there places in Kanata one can rent an e-bike so I can give one a go to see if I have it in me to actually make the trip?

LF: Nail Salon w/ OPI’m a Bubble Bunny Gel polish

Hi neighbours. 👋🏻 The nail salon I had booked for my wedding manicure is unexpectedly closed for an undetermined amount of time due to a fire. We had booked for 4 people (myself and my 3 bridesmaids) to get our nails done there.

I had already done a trial manicure and had done a gel extension (don’t care if it’s full cover or a tip with gel overtop) and OPI’s new bubble bunny gel polish.

I’m now scrambling to find a nail salon that does gel manicures and is confirmed to have that shade of polish. May sound silly, but hoping someone here can help me track a place down that will have that colour and will do a great job without me having to call a million places to ask. TIA.

RMT recommendations

I'm looking for recommendations for a stellar RMT in the Kanata area. The hours of the RMT I used to see don't work for my schedule. I've seen someone else a few times in the last few months - the first massage was great, the last two have been lackluster, so I'd like to try others to try to find my best fit.

In an ideal world, I would like to find someone who has Wednesday evening or Friday availability; good, deep pressure; and an excellent scalp massage! My problem areas are my shoulders, neck, and head/face/jaw - so if you have experience with someone amazing in these areas please let me know.

Thanks!
