“Beyond the Mat” director Barry Blaustein dies at 72

“Beyond the Mat” director Barry Blaustein dies at 72

Barry Blaustein, a long-time writer and director, had died at the age of 72.

Blaustein’s connection to professional wrestling was through the 1999 documentary, “Beyond the Mat”, chronicling the careers of several performers at various stages of their careers.

Blaustein had been battling Parkinson’s disease for the past nine years and was diagnosed with stage four pancreatic cancer last month.

The Hollywood Reporter story on his death noted that the wrestling documentary was the “favorite thing he had ever done.”

The documentary was released by Lions Gate Films and featured early cooperation by the World Wrestling Federation, which provided Blaustein backstage access for filming in 1998 and 1999.

WWE reportedly shutting down streamers, content creators

A report by Jeremy Lambert at Fightful.com says WWE and its legal team have been going after a variety of online personalities.

“World Wrestling Entertainment has reportedly taken down and sent copyright strikes to a number of streamers and content creators over clips and reactions,” Lambert writes.

Fightful is also reporting that WWE is working with a company called StreamEnforcement, using bots to target streamers.

A reminder Ted did more than this dweeb.

Jim Cornette and Bruce Prichard's relationship post-WWF

Forgive me if this has been brought up before, but on a recent show, Jim said something along the lines of "Remember that time Bruce lied to me?" I know Brian Last has made his feelings clear on Bruce Prichard, and I don't disagree with him. Whenever I see Bruce on a WWE documentary, my wife and I groan, like "Not this guy again, talking to us like we are ten years old."

I know Jim has called him "The Artful Dodger," and at times, he seems to understand and respect Bruce, and, at other times, he seems to dislike him.

What is a brief history of their relationship post-WWF, and is it a positive or negative one? Thanks in advance!

How long does Jim have left in podcasting?

I remember a year or two ago he said on first episode of the year he had been talking about how many years he had to do this shit with Brian.

How long will he continue to podcast do you think? These two shows are a savior to me. I have a lengthy commute and I love wrestling but like very little of the current product so this really scratches an itch.

what say you? How much more til our boy hangs it up?

AEW suing TrillerTV for nearly $5 million in overdue payments

AEW has filed a lawsuit against TrillerTV and its parent company, Triller Group, Inc., alleging the streaming platform owes Tony Khan’s wrestling company just under $5 million in unpaid revenue from AEW pay-per-view sales and from proceeds for the now-discontinued AEW Plus subscription service.

AEW’s lawsuit was filed on April 29 in Duval County Court in Florida. The legal complaint alleges TrillerTV’s parent company used AEW-derived revenues to fund other businesses — including a social media platform that never took off — rather than paying AEW what it was owed

Joey Ryan resurfaces again...

Oh boy. It is astounding in hindsight that Joey Ryan got so popular in the 2010s. His "gimmick" was incredibly low-brow, even for comedy wrestling. And yet, Jim Cornette was seemingly the only main wrestling figure to call him out prior to #SpeakingOut.

Despite receiving 20 different allegations against him (including by Roxanne Perez), Ryan remains active on social media, defending himself and insisting he never groomed anyone. He has also converted to Christianity! In addition, Rob Feinstein makes a cameo too! Another person who shouldn't be associated with wrestling anymore.

James Romero does a great job tearing apart Ryan and his recent activities in this video. I think it's safe to say Ryan's comeback will have a snowball's chance in hell of succeeding.
