Looking at a Jaguar xj8 2004

Hey guys I’m looking at a jaguar xj8 2004 for my first car. I was able to work them down to 1700 but it has a few issues. First it needs new brakes and second there is something wrong with the suspension. Does anyone have any knowledge on the suspension system and what it could be and cost to fix? And worst case scenario what would it cost to do a complete over haul. Other than that it is in amazing condition, I have never seen a car this old look this good. Thoughts would be appreciated.

Black side vents / dechromed X358

I'm in the process of fitting an x358 conversion to my platinum silver x350 and am debating modifying the bumpers to remove the reflectors as well as painting the side vents black.

I've fitted a pair of kalimnos wheels and have dechromed the window surrounds - what's your take on this looks? Image is not the original car but mock up of colour combo

The magnificent Jaguar XJ13 was created in 1965 to uphold a storied LeMans heritage; the project was shelved, its very existence denied for years. It later found itself buried up to its rivets in test track mud when driver Norman Dewis crashed in 1971; the car was rebuilt in 1973.

Felt inside door cleaning

Any advice on how to clean this felt on the inside door? I’ve tried a lint roller and tooth brush and neither have worked

Just finished building, now I want a 3.0

Yeah… just finished building but I want a 3.0 now.

I do own a S-Type 3.0, but I want to know your experiences on the X-Type 3.0.

Love to hear comparisons between 2.5 and 3.0.

Mine is a 2.5 AWD.

Thanks!

Valuation help...

Help! A good friend passed and I'm helping his wife find a new home for his prized Jag. I'm trying to get a sense of it's value and desirability so if there's any well informed E Type fans who could share an opinion that would be appreciated. It's a two owner, well documented, numbers matching 1973 Series III with 75,000 original miles. When sold new it was a four speed but my friend converted it to a 5 speed. It would include the original 4 speed if wanted. It runs very smoothly and drives great. As it was driven occasionally but only in good weather it's not a show car but it is very clean.

I've had a look at Bringatrailer but prices seem to be all over the map. The car is located in BC Canada so not sure if that's a factor that would affect value given tariffs etc.

So thanks in advance for any suggestions on what a realistic asking price would be. 😊

P25A9-00 on 2.0D Ingenium (XF X260) - Can the Piston Cooling Solenoid be replaced without removing the thermostat?

Hi everyone,

I’m getting a P25A9(00) error (Piston Cooling Oil Control Solenoid - Open Circuit) on my Jaguar XF (X260) with the 2.0 Diesel Ingenium engine. Along with this, I'm getting the "Low Oil Level" red warning on the dash, even though my actual oil pressure is fine (measured 1.7-2.0 bar at idle via OBD).

I know the official procedure says I need to remove the thermostat housing to get to the solenoid (AJ813393), but I just replaced the thermostat a month ago and I really don’t want to drain the coolant and mess with those gaskets again if I don't have to.

My question is: Has anyone successfully replaced this solenoid by only removing the EGR tube and working in that tight space? Is there enough clearance to pull the solenoid out of the block without the thermostat being in the way?

I’m planning to do this DIY since I’m on a tight budget. Any tips on tools (flex extensions, etc.) or "hacks" to avoid pulling the thermostat would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

engine code p0420-00

Hey all,

I have a 2014 xf and i had the engine code p0420-00 come up a few weeks ago and took it to a mechanic, was told it could be the o2 sensors or ive gotten some bad fuel, hence the fuel crisis occurring right now. They cleared it and said to keep an eye on it, was fine for 2 weeks then popped back up again, got it looked at and its the same error code. I was doing city driving that day in comparison to my usual country side commutes, just wondering if it could be the o2 sensors faulty and if i should replace them?

Jaguar x type check engine light and egr fault code even after replacing egr.

I have a 2.0 diesel x type that threw up a check engine light with egr related codes. The egr was really clogged with carbon so I guessed it might have been stuck open. I put in a new egr and the light went away for a few miles then came back. I then took apart the intake manifold to clean to make sure there was absolutely no blockage to air flow that could be causing the fault. Again the light went away then a short while later it again came back. The car will also go into limp mode if it revs above 3 to 4k but its semi random. Sometimes itll be fine others it won't and will go into limp. Im really at a loss as to whats causing it. Its like a really weird phantom fault at this point. The egr it has now is new and the intake manifold is clean. There's absolutely nothing egr related now that should be causing the engine light and limp mode.

Is the F Type a good track car?

Obviously the F Type is one of the best choices for a road car and a spirited drive - but how does it go as a track car?

I'm after a weekend car that can also be taken to the track and 4-5 time per year to hone my skills.

Other considerations on the short list are a 987 Cayman or F80 M3/F82 M4.

I understand that these options likely make for a better track car than the F Type - but the F Type is my favourite looking, favourite sounding and I love the appeal of the "theatre" that comes with it. I imagine it feels quite exciting to drive every time.

I've tried the F Type in the sim and it feels a little floaty and understeery in the corners - but it's a modded in car and not an official Assetto Corsa car so I'm not going to take that as an indicator.

Anyone who tracks their F-Type, how do you find it? How does it handle? Have you done any mods? Have you been able to develop your skills with it?

I'd be willing to go to somewhat stiffer suspension and better pads/brakes but I wouldn't want to mess with the street usability of the car.

Thanks,
