A Wedding Gift to My Wife

Decided to gift my wife a guitar as an engagement present. We are newly engaged and She’s always wanted to learn how to play i wanted to give her something a little unique 😊 I Custom made the pick guard with her favorite Junji Ito manga, as well as paint the fret markers pink! her favorite color. Didn’t want to be crazy flashy but also wanted to give her something unique! I love you baby!

KORG AW-LT100M tuner for Bb

I just got the KORG AW-LT100M tuner and it picks up notes very well, but I can't find anything to correctly pitch it. I play flugelhorn in Bb and the tuner shows the notes in 'orchestral mode'. Does anyone know if I can change this, or if I have to transpose in my head? I've always read notes like do, re, mi, ... so it's harder to read them as letters and I just don't want to have to transpose on top of that when I'm playing.

Need help choosing a piano/keyboard

I'm a beginner at playing the piano and I'm stuck between choosing an old upright piano for around $150, or a cheap 88 key piano for around $100-120. I've done my research and apparently the feel and sound of an upright would outclass any cheap 88 key keyboard. Usually this would be an easy decision, and I'd choose the upright, however, I currently have a 1969 Yamaha Electone organ (in pretty good condition) that's taking up space, so I won't be able to fit an upright. Should I sell the Yamaha Electone and buy an upright or get the cheap 88 key?

P.s. I have a decent amount of playing on a decent keyboard as I used a Roland EP7 II, before it stopped working.

I'm building a free iReal Pro alternative — need your feedback

Hey everyone,

I'm a musician, and for a while now I've been struggling with the practice apps available on the market. iReal Pro is a great tool, but it's aging and it's paid. For everything else, you end up juggling 5 different apps — one for the metronome, one for ear training, one for chord charts...

So I started building Autonome — a music practice app designed by a musician, for musicians. Free, no ads, with a modern interface that actually looks different from what's out there. The core idea is to centralize everything in one place: metronome, ear training, chord chart editor, backing tracks, repertoire management, progress tracking.

The app is in development and well underway — but before locking in the features, I want to make sure I'm building exactly what musicians actually need. Your feedback will directly shape what goes into the first version. This is your chance to have a say.

The survey takes less than 3 minutes: https://forms.gle/rpC7XrEKJrswDnMRA

Happy to chat in the comments. Thanks in advance 🙏

Electric Guitar or Bass? Which Should I learn?

Anyone have any insight into which I should start with?

I don't have any experience playing any other instruments. I have always wanted to learn both and the drums - these seem a little easier to start with just for size alone lol

Most of my hobbies are outside hobbies and my fiancé is a gamer so I decided I needed a new inside hobby - and learning an instrument I've wanted to learn since I was a kid seemed like the perfect one!

I understand the difference between the two and love the idea of learning them both eventually. I would love to hear thoughts from people that play :)

For additional info I am a 5'5 girl in my late twenties. We live in a condo so I plan to get a small amp I can plug headphones into so I don't disturb my neighbors.

Also any tips on hand/finger strengthening would be great too!
