First attempt successful! (So far)

Second month on 5 mg letrozole, first doing the IUI, letrozole and trigger. We only had one follicle, on my left ovary. My left side has always been known to have more cysts/issues. Last month we had 3 huge dominant follicles. I really think the trigger was the difference.

Yesterday was 2 weeks past my IUI. HCG was 68 and my progesterone 24. Praying this one sticks. I thought it was unheard of for first round success. Feeling really guilty about how fast it took. Also feeling very cautious, like the other shoe is going to drop. I had been telling everyone who knew we were going through the process that it’s practically impossible, and basically accepted it couldn’t happen. I guess I’m a little in shock?

Also, if I could go back and not tell anyone we were trying via IUI I would lol. Now everyone who knew we were, knows we got a positive. They’re celebrating but anything could happen still with only being at 4 weeks.

3-4 Follicles

I just had my monitoring appointment this morning and I have 4 follicles: 18, 16, 14, 13.5.

My clinic wants me to trigger in 24 hours to let the smaller follicles grow a bit more and then do my IUI 24 hours after trigger. They expect my 14mm follicle to catch up and likely ovulate as well and the smallest 13.5 is a maybe.

Any success stories with this many follicles? This is my 3rd and final IUI before doing IVF and I need some hope!

Choosing donor

Hi there,

After much discussion my husband and I have decided to pursue IUI with sperm donor. What sperm banks have you used and found positive experiences with? We would be shipping to Minnesota. Thanks in advance

Walk me off the cliff

I just did my second IUI and just feel so meh about it. Husband and I didn’t get to complete sex before or after. I had thin lining. I only triggered like 20 hours before the procedure bc they said I was “surging”, but I’m not sure they took into account my PCOS for that surge.

I’m currently stuck in the fact we didn’t have proper intercourse before or after to “make sure” there’s stuff there.

Just feeling discouraged :(

Fairfax donor sperm

Hi all,

Just wondered if anyone has had any experience reserving donor sperm at Fairfax Cryobank, or if this is even a thing? I’m planning IUI in the summer but unsure if we are going to wait until next year due to other circumstances. We’ve found a great donor but unsure whether to risk waiting to see if vials are still available then.

Any help would be much appreciated!

Hyperovulation

Hey everyone! I received the news two days ago that my third cycle is cancelled due to hyperovulation. My gynaecologist was very shocked during the echo and told me it looked like an IVF cycle (8+ follicles). She cancelled the cycle and told us to absolutely not have unprotected sex until the end of this cycle.

Obviously we are devastated. We were already planning to take a break after this cycle as we are going on a holiday, but now we can't even do this third attempt. So that's two cycles and many, many eggs down the drain... I'm really starting to feel like IUI is a massive waste of our time. I am obviously ovulating like a mad woman and no issues were found on my side, but my husbands past two sperm analysis were pretty bad (1.1 and 1.2 mil sperm after wash). I'm considering asking our Dr to move to IVF again, but last time I asked they seemed convinced IUI could do the trick. Anybody else going through this? I feel so angry and so lost.

Performance Advice needed -long sorry

Hi All,

Our story is all over the place. My husband and I have a 3.5 year old who we had no issues conceiving. In October 2024 we started trying for our second. We got pregnant right away but that ended in a loss in December. We were cleared to try again next month and got pregnant in January 2025. At 21 weeks we got diagnosed with Severe IUGR and Oligo, after 3 weeks from hell we decided to terminate. the termination was challenging and I had to have a D&C a few days after due to hemorrhage . We do not know why this happened- all tests came back normal. We got cleared to try after the next cycle and got pregnant a few months later in October but had another loss (MMC) ending in a D&C in December 2025 due to T21. We started to go through fertility work up in October 2025 and resumed it in January 2026. We found I had asherman’s from the losses so we took a break and had the scar tissue removed. My husband also had slightly elevated DNA frag (all else with his semen analysis was fine) so we made lifestyle changes, including him getting on lexapro. His lexapro kicked in within the last two weeks. I can visibly notice a change in his mood and personality.

We were cleared to try in April and I just exited my fertile window. We attempted to have sex 5 times. we also tried doing at home insemination as he wasn’t able to ejaculate during sex- that also failed as he couldn’t ejaculate with or without my help. We have never had this issue in the 14 years we have been together. Right before my period started in late March we had sex and everything was normal. My periods are long so we basically started trying right after I stopped bleeding.

My husband is beside himself and I am also really struggling with hope for the future. I’m sad that we missed this window (even though it wasn’t for the lack of trying) but even more concerned that we won’t be able to make next month.

We are waiting on a meeting with his urologist next week (we have had scheduled for the past few weeks) as we were trying to decide on doing IUI to try to eliminate some of the dna frag issues (anything to potentially reduce the risk of another MC - but we can’t afford IVF) and figured we would try this cycle while we waited for the appointment.

I am not sure what to do. His personality and happiness in general is a 180 (it’s been a tough year for us) so stopping the lexapro is also not ideal. I know lexapro causes performance issues so I was doing research and he was considering ED medicine but getting an erection isn’t the problem so I’m not sure how helpful that would be.

Any insight? Any thoughts on lowering lexapro dose to 5mg (currently on 10) and adding Wellbutrin (sp?)? Switching to another med like Wellbutrin that doesn’t typically cause performance issues?

Should we stop meds all together and deal with the emotional setback so an IUI is successful in May?

I am in such a loss and the waiting is killing me. I know we are both doing everything we can but our daughter is really asking constantly for a sibling and we have had so many set backs that emotionally this is getting tough.

We are really looking for anything that will get him to be able to at least ejaculate in a cup for an IUI in May. He has done it with no problem 5 times in the last few months so we know that isn’t a problem.

Thanks in advance

Best OPK? How to track ovulation?

Good morning, ladies! My 2nd cycle was cancelled due to a cyst 😒 we can still try naturally but I think I already missed my ovulation because I can’t read the test strips right. I’ve been using Pregmate and the test line gets darker, but never darker than the control line.

Does anyone have a recommendation for an OPK that is more clear and reliable? Or am I just dumb? I appreciate any advice you can offer! Thank you!

When did you trigger out Pregnyl?

Hi! So for my IUI, I did follistim and Menopur. I used Pregnyl for my trigger shot but also used .5 cc of it as booster shots on 3 DPIUI and 6 DPIUI. I have low AMH. This is my first medicated cycle. I am 27.

I am 11 DPIUI today. I am not spotting when I typically would about 2-3 days before my period. I’ve been trying to test out the trigger shot but it’s still in my system. The past three days, they have been super faint.

With anyone with this protocol, how long did it take for it to get negative? It hasn’t gotten darker.

6 IUIs

😫 just ranting. How tf am I going to make it through 6 IUIs- before we can go onto IVF. Mentally. Physically. I’ve already completed 2 and am going onto the 3rd. We hope for success every round but my hope dwindles each negative test. HOW can I do 4 more of these 🥴??

Starting IUI #2

Starting IUI #2 and would love to hear if anyone had success on their second try, I’m not super excited this cycle like I was last time 😔

First cycle I did letrozole + trigger + progesterone. I had a lot of follicles but post-wash count was only 1.6M so I’m kinda thinking that might’ve been the issue. It was negative.

This time they bumped me to 7.5mg and we switched donors (20M count), so I’m hoping that helps

Did anyone have better luck the second time? Did you change anything or was it just better numbers/timing?

IUI #2 different process

Today is CD3 and I had the call with REI to plan for IUI #2. My first IUI I had four ultrasounds this time I had to do blood work yesterday (CD2) and then today she prescribed me with letzerole, doubling my daily dosage from 2.5mg to 5mg for five days. I don’t go in for an ultrasound until CD13 (next Friday 4/17). Between cycle day 11 and 13 I have to do OPKs, If positive I have to call them and then they will schedule the IUI. But if that’s the case, then we won’t even have monitored follicles at all, which seems very strange. I guess that’s worst case scenario but still weird to me that they don’t want me to come in earlier next week. I live in Northern California and have Kaiser if that’s helpful. Has anyone else had this experience?
