Computer engineering students needs to hear it

Have you ever thought ke wtf so useless course why are they not teaching me things that are used in real world job market yada yada yada etc etc.

or

Why my course does not have such cool subjects like CSIT has etc etc etc

Then brother wth dude its computer engineering.

simple analogy chai like suppose a person studying MBBS complaining about not being trained how to become a dentist coz dentist is the real hype in Nepal rn rey.

so why do u want to be trained in xyz and do the job your degree was not designed for ?

Ya some idea huna parcha

Computer engineering field is fast phased naya tech ta aucha jancha aucha jancha din dinai , and people who understand the core principles are the ones who will have upper hand than the people who just try to learn EVERYTHING.

Computer Engineering as a degree follows a globally standardized foundation, designed around core principles rather than short term job market trends. In that sense, the curriculum is still relevant ani well structured.

It’s true that some topics may not be directly used in modern industry. However, that does not make them useless. For example, studying processors like the 8085/8086 is not about using outdated hardware, but about understanding how basic CPU architecture, instruction cycles, and memory interaction work. These concepts are the foundation of all modern processors, including i9 or Apple Silicon chips.

The mistake people make is assuming “modern tech” means only learning the newest tools. In reality, if you skip fundamentals, you cannot properly understand or build advanced systems. You don’t need to study cutting-edge hardware directly to become modern you need to understand the principles that all modern systems are built on.

Older technologies are used in education not because they are outdated, but because they are simplified models of complex systems. They make it easier to understand how computing systems are designed, which is something directly relevant even today.

mata yo ne vanchu ke removing Thermodynamics from Computer Engineering is questionable because thermal concepts are still relevant in real computing systems.

Heat is a major constraint in CPUs, GPUs, and servers, affecting performance, stability, and lifespan. Basic thermodynamics helps understand cooling, heat transfer, and energy efficiency in hardware design and embedded systems.

Story of my dumb friend 💀..He intentionally failed around 40 subjects thinking he would later get higher marks in back exams.

I kept telling him, “Just pass your regular exams first,” but his ego and attitude were on another level. He thought failing on purpose was some smart strategy.

Now it’s been almost 1.5 years pass out vaya ko … and even in the subjects he finally passed, he only got around 32 marks 😭. He still has 10 back papers remaining.

Moral of the story: don’t be foolish like him. Try to pass your regular exams instead of intentionally failing just to chase higher marks later.

Eng and friends

Short story short...

There are only 6 girls in the class....
2 of them are bunking classes always..

other 4...I do not think I will be comfortable around them...(they are so different)
at first i thought they were just girls who have their own stories and skill sets...

But at the end of first sem...they are like I do not know if it is normal or not...I am not comfortable around it...(they are sexualizing themselves and even make remarks on their parent's sex life)...And these kinds of talks arise out of nowhere...I mostly try to stand up and leave their by.......

I do not know where else to post this stuff but I am not really comfortable with such persons...(why is it a big deal: Because I believe if you live among smokers you might not smoke but you slowly get used to the smoke and one day boom you are patient of someone's deeds..)

I could ask for suggestions but what other choices do I have....I do not have a phone to carry around campus...and engineering colleges, you know how classes, praticals and vivas and teachers work.......

I usually try to avoid with a book in the classroom but does not work everytime...

Backs don't matter that much if you really put your all heart at the right time before it's too late

I had 39 total backs

But after completing my bachelors (after wasting 6 extra months) I got my licence in my first attempt Now I am currently working at a government facility as a senior lead engineer.

So don't loose hope

And keep on working hard

(Coming from a fellow failure 🤪)

About to hit 25 but not graduated

I feel like crap . Still 3 more subjects to go.... I've given exams but I dint think I'll pass them. I'm tired . From wanting perfection and 80% to barely making it 60% .... Depression, constant anxiety dekhi .... acceptance samma it wasn't easy. What hurts the most is always realising my potential but failing to reach there just because I couldn't control my fucking emotions and couldn't stop crying and getting anxious. I really fucked my life up, didn't I?

Things to know before joining engineering.

I'd like to tell newcomers, what to expect and what not to expect from engineering and what should you do, imo.

  1. First of all, you'll be going into a new type of schedule, i.e. the semester system where asti bharkhar exam deko jasto laagcha, arko exam aaisakcha. So, time management is really important. Natra aankha jhimik, semester gaayab.

  2. Try to read everyday. 3 din maa pass bhaincha wala mindset bata taadha basnu, kasaile testo bhancha bhane tyo manche bata taadha basnu. 3 days din raat padhda dherai stress huncha ani marks ko pani thegaan hudaina. Marks kamm aaye pachi hune regret is just second to back laage pachi hune regret. Exam aaune bela bhaye pachi sabai tira ko assessment, assignment, past questions haru padhne/practice garne.

  3. Back sakey samma nalaagos. Laagey pani kataai haalne. 4 barsa pachi dinchu OR arko paali dinchu bhanne socheu bhane padhne baani haraisakcha, ani tyo back katna gaaro parcha.

  4. Ek choti back laage pachi sudhrine. Padhaai lai seriously liney.

  5. Keep your expectations low. Engineering colleges and its curriculum are not built the way you want it to be. You'll have to learn most of the stuff yourself. Your college will not help you to be a good engineer. It'll only help you to pass the exams.

  6. Teachers are your reference source, not your only source. Study yourself. Teacher ko pachi laagda, you may learn how to pass the exam but after you pass, you'll be clueless because you are an engineer on paper but don't know jack shit about anything.

  7. Participate in student projects and societies. Cringe huncha, awkward lagch hyaa huu garera nonchalant bhayera basna hudaina. You'll learn something from the clubs and projects. Jasto simple bhaye ni project banaaune, try to take part in exhibitions, display your project.

  8. Be proactive in classroom. Nabujheko question haru sodhne teacher lai. Manche le pachadi basera yo mg kati janne bhako hola bhanchan, tara aako doubt sodhera teti kherai clear garey, you'll remember it for long time. ( Ma chai tei yo mg kati jannne bhako bhanne madhye maa thiye)

  9. It's important that you have people who are growth oriented in your circle. Natra timro group maa backchodi dherai huncha, kaam dherai kamm. Ani tesle kasailai faaida gardaina.

  10. Timro schedule should be packed with padhai wala kaam tara you should also get in touch with your friends, talk, laugh and live. Balance every thing. Best but lonely and boring hunu bhanda, above average and social and cheerful hunu raamro. Tara tesmai time khera faalne chau hoina. Also, don't forget your hobbies as well.

  11. Sano sano Project haru garne kura ta bhaisakyo. Once you reach third year, start reading research papers. Sakchau bhane euta lekhne. Tesle dherai help garcha portfolio banauna laai.

  12. Try to code. Learn softwares that are neeeded according to your stream. Kunai problem lai software maa model garna milcha bhane garne. Basic code bhaye pani garne.

  13. Fourth Year maa Final Year Project choose garda choose a simple topic and keep it simple but present in such a way that people think it's complicated. Project group choose gardaa select people who want to work, who know stuffs and who can be counted upon.

  14. In your fourth year, start thinking about what field are you going to join after graduating. Kun field maa jaane, k kaam garne, kataa padhai huncha timlai mann laageko course, tyaha jaana lai timro qualification le bhetcha ki bhetdaina, kataa jaada k k huncha sabai kura research garne, it will be really helpful.

Loksewa

Passed bachelor in civil with about 75%. Now i am in confusion. Don't know what to do. My wish is to go abroad but i am the only son of parents and they are aged(about 65). My heart don't want to be far away from them. Don't have that much connections too. I think loksewa is the only option for me. But a lot of thought comes on my mind what if i don't crack in first attempt and took more time? Loksewa needs consistency and concentration. But i literally can't concentrate. What should i do for better focusing?

Do I stand a chance in IOE?

I know nothing much about IOE. Ahile AI lai sodheko Ani scholarship distribute open rw quota garerw hunxa re. Here's my profile do I stand a chance in scholarship maybe in Pulchowk

9-10:- Government school

10 GPA:- 3.50

11-12: government scholarship

Gender: male

Cast: Brahman

12 GPA ~ 3.67

Mero chai yo bidha ma IOE ko lagi ekdam Kada sanga prepare garne plan xaina. Actually, I'm thinking of going to Germany after the 1st year. But if I get a scholarship I may go after a bachelor's degree.

If I practice through books and online resources do I stand any chance for a scholarship in Electrical, computer engineering.
