What do you think to this 32 channel IEM split build?
Looking for thoughts, potential failure points, and ways to improve my IEM/split build for an upcoming 2 month headline US tour.
Current plan:
- PreSonus StudioLive 32R for monitors
- x4 Behringer ULTRALINK MS8000 units for 32-way split
- Shure PSM1000 running 4 mono mixes via MixMode
- Shure Axient Digital for vocals
- Power conditioner
- 2U drawer for packs/mics
- Van Damme 24-way FOH loom/tails
- Last 8 channels are IEM-only inputs (click, cues, talkbacks, crowd mics etc.)
Obviously, the goal is to become fully self-contained for monitoring so we get consistent ears every night instead of relying on fast venue monitor line checks.
Current signal flow:
Stage inputs → splitter rack → isolated split to FOH → direct split to 32R → PSM1000 transmitter.
A few things I’m still debating:
- Whether the MS8000s are reliable enough long term for touring/flying
- Best approach for grounding/hum prevention
- Whether to travel with all our own mics to keep gain structure consistent
- Smartest way to handle redundancy/failure points
- Whether I should add an external router permanently into the rack
Would appreciate any advice from people already touring similar rigs.
