AI is a humongous stuff; so humongous, no one has any clue of the colossal size of the thing. I mean, it is the sum total of humanity as in what is referred to as the LLM, packed in some tiny instrument, and as a human, your trust has to be wholey and completely in it; more like a highly learned person.

Sounds a bit scary because this thing does not reason, isn't it?

Unfortunately absolutely not, because that is what AI is; the sum total of humanity. Indeed, a highly learned person is a miniature. Of course there are definitely folks who would say, dude, Nah, that ain't possible at all. AI can't be the sum total of humanity. Period!

True; and I don't dispute that as LLM can be broken into areas of specialization but remember too, that each area of specialization varies from one local jurisdiction to the next.

So, honest to God, AI is. The LLM informs it. In fact, we can up this a notch further & volunteer that a human being could as well be the sum total of humanity. Yes, that can be true. All one needs to do is get exposed to each & every language, culture & tradition on planet earth! Once you are exposed to all that, & you know in every little details, the languages, the cultures and the traditions of the entire people of the universe, you are literally a walking talking sum total of humanity.

And that, friends, is AI in the making, in a nutshell, with its LLM that is still under construction.

Now sit back and think for a bit. Supposing you are travelling to a destination. It could be local or long distant. And for the travel, you are taking a bus. You get yourself ready, walked onto the bus stage & whoopla, there is one sitting at the stage waiting for clients to fill it up. A number of fellow travellers are already in and are seated, scrawling their mobile phones away mindless of what is going on; just waiting for the bus driver to start the engine & off, the bus is gone, headed to the destination.

Because everyone came onto the bus stage & found the bus already sitting there waiting for travellers to fill up, none found the driver in the bus; the driver may have had some minutes in his/her hand to kill & so decided to wander off for some reasons. You enter the bus, found yourself a seat & sat; waiting for when the bus takes off. Then the bus driver, a few minutes after you walked in, enters the bus. And who is he, well, surprise!, a full metal humanoid! I won't say full blooded for obvious reason.

Just curious how you would handle this when all along you thought the driver is a full blooded human being! Break the windows on your way out? Crash someone at the door, in a stampede?

What exactly would you do?

Your thoughts?

Would AI & Humanoids/Robots entrench welfare state around the world?

Musk mooted the idea of UI given the dawn of AI & robots.

Its plain AI is taking over jobs, no question; and it will continue to do so to the point, all jobs that could be performed by AI & humanoids/robots, are fully taken over. This would leave a colossal number of able-bodied workers without jobs throughout the world.

With mass unemployment, it only makes sense that the jobless would have to have some kind of incomes coming in, whether bi-weekly or monthly, to keep the motor of economy running. Without spending, from & by consumers, the economic engine would grind to a halt, everywhere. This means Musk's UI idea is beyond debate; just a policy implementation matter when that time arrives. For, no single nation would be in position to sustain, at the very least, a 50% employment rate.

Lets suppose the most would be 20%(executives, workers in fields AI & humanoids/robots, couldn't perform, &c), that leaves 80% of her population without gainful employment & therefore without incomes.

80% unemployment rate renders any economy instantly obsolete. So the only antidote would be the Musk's UI idea. Now that in itself comes with a whole whack of problems, from freedom, birth rates, what you eat, health, wealth, education, how much a single person or a family receives bi-weekly or monthly as UI, would become front & center on social & political stage.

So, whether you are a policy maker or not, how would you address these issues?

Really would love to hear your thoughts.

How large should LLM be for humanoids to take over jobs?

Just how large should the LLM be for humanoids to be in positions to take over many jobs? With no abilities to reason, I don't see that happening. Some jobs will be lost for sure, no question but huge chunk would remain. Take for instance ems response staff positions. Could humanoids handle the tasks? No! It would be catastrophic!
