India’s economy isn’t powered by just Mumbai, Delhi, or Bengaluru.

Surat processes around 90% of the world’s diamonds. Coimbatore is a major textile and knitwear hub. Kollam plays a huge role in the global cashew trade. Cities like Ludhiana, Rajkot, Jamnagar, and Tiruppur quietly dominate entire industries without getting national attention.

According to compiled 2022-23 district-level GDP estimates, India’s top 50 cities together contribute nearly 40% of the country’s GDP. It’s a reminder of how economically diverse and decentralized India actually is.

Which city on this list surprised you the most?

UPDATE : Went to the isolated patch in the middle of nowhere just beside hills of Budanagudda

Previous post : https://www.reddit.com/r/Hubli\_Dharwad/s/LBCTJDu5OM

TLDR : We visited the isolated patch and it was not any Illegal mining or human settlement but water retention pit of some kind where we spotted few pugmarks of wild animals. And yes we are ALIVE!

So yesterday I made a post regarding an isolated patch just beside the hills of Budanagudda which looked sus af coz the water body (Lake)disappeared which was present till 2023.And the view of current gmaps looked like some mining ground or human settlement? IN THE MIDDLE OF NO WHERE!

Today I was accompanied by my redditor friend (obv a redditor…who else in their sane mind would do this) to check out that place. We first climbed up the Budanagudda hills and I flew my drone just to check what exactly it is and is it safe or not, like are there people around the patch.By the drone view it was pretty clear there was no one around there but still we were confused about the grid like excavations.

We began walking through the trail which genuinely felt unused for years.Full of overgrown grass and bushes and plants. It was creepy as hell. But we decided to continue walking and there was not a single plastic bottle or a plastic wrapper in sight which was GREAT and RARE.The walk was 1.6-1.7km long.

We somehow managed to reach the spot but half of the trail was just us getting violated by thorns…left and right.Turns out it was not illegal mining or human settlements. It looked like some restoration work done by forest department, maybe for Ground level water recharging, Lake de silting, Water for wildlife , water retention pit or for new plantation?

The lowest point of the area still had some water left. The small grid-like pits were slightly raised, gradually increasing in height by 1ft or sm.Few pits still had water or wet soil in them, but most of it was dry af.And we saw several pug marks there at water body, maybe of some wolf, fox, hyenas or wild cats not sure.

This was pretty wholesome actually to see conservation work being done by department but I would still want to know the exact reason for this. Will try to talk to some forest gaurds around that area if possible .

Some cool birds we saw on the trail :

-Black headed cuckooshrike
-Paradise flycatcher (Male and Female)Brown morph
-Rofous treepie
-Jungle babbler
-White breasted water hen

So this was about it! No Illegal mining or no human settlement. It was pretty fun experience exploring this on a sunday morning. Thanks yall for following this random quest of mine, appreciate it :)

Found this isolated patch of land …tribal settlement? illegal mining?idk. Anyone up to check this place out tom morning

Update : https://www.reddit.com/r/Hubli\_Dharwad/s/ZUiJ0jCsr9

I was just scanning through the hills from Devargudihal to Budangudda on google maps and saw this isolated patch.Checked out the place on Google earth and apparently there was a water body till 2023 with some small hut like structures around. But now there is no water body and the huts are bigger and more organised.

So I’m going there tomorrow morning to check wtf is that.I do have a drone so technically I could just fly it over and see what the place is but there is no fun in that.Anyone wanna join me ? I hope they are not some fckn cannibals :)

Waste Management is a joke in Hubli-Dharwad

This is really pissed me off to no extents

The tempo which collects waste is so inconsistent that the word is too small for it! There’s no “official” timing itself. One time they show up at 7 and some days after 9. Some days they dont bother showing up!

How can we dump our waste if this is the situation??!

I see many places where people dump waste at roadside which is wrong, but you can’t completely blame them because of a shambolic waste management system

Some workers are so arrogant that they demand us to throw waste on to the truck and refuse to remove from a waste bin kept outside home

I request anyone who can contact or provide a relevant contact information about this
Or if you know someone who can come in the evening hours to collect??!

Dedicate / Adopt a tree - new age of gifting?

Growing up in Hubli-Dharwad, I always felt a deep connection to the farms and trees around us. Now living in a city, I’ve been thinking about an idea and want honest opinions from this community.
Would you pay ₹5,000/year to adopt a real tree on a farm — dedicated to someone you love?
Here’s exactly what you get:
• A real tree on a real farm, with a plaque carrying your family’s name
• Seasonal photos and updates from the farm throughout the year
• An open invitation to visit the farm anytime — especially when it fruits
• Whatever the tree yields is yours to keep
• The satisfaction of giving back to the environment in a living, lasting way
The fruit is a byproduct. The point is the connection — to nature, to the land, to a memory.
Think of it like adopting a pet. You don’t adopt a dog for what it produces. You adopt it for the relationship, the responsibility, the joy of watching it grow. Same idea here.
This is NOT for you if:
• You want cheap fruit — just buy from the market
• You want guaranteed produce like a business investment
• You already own farmland
• You want to plant and forget
This IS for you if you want to dedicate something living and lasting to a new baby, a parent’s anniversary, someone you’ve lost, or simply give back to the environment in a meaningful way.
Would something like this resonate with you — or does it feel too abstract? Honest opinions only.

How SOME hubli people act when you say not to pee in footpath.

They be saying "SHUT UP IS THIS YOUR DAD ROAD" while peeing in front of school road while small girls are walking.

PLEASE DON'T THINK ALL BUT SOME.

Why does the same food from the same restaurant taste different every time in Hubli?

I’ve been staying in Hubli for the last 3 months and have tried food from many restaurants here. One thing I noticed repeatedly is that even when I order the exact same dish from the same restaurant, the taste is completely different on different days.

Sometimes it’s really good, and other times it feels like a totally different restaurant. I’ve faced this issue in multiple places, not just one.

Is anyone else experiencing the same thing in Hubli?
Would love to know your opinions, restaurant experiences, or if you have found places with consistent taste and quality.

Best gym in Hubli

Planning to join a gym again after a long gap. I stay near Vijayanagar side, so looking for good gym suggestions nearby, especially for evening workouts.

I used to go to iFitness earlier, and many years ago I had also gone to Xtreme Fitness when it was in the old location. How is Xtreme now after shifting? Does anyone here currently go there?

Open to other suggestions too.
