Personally for me it’s honestly a hot debate between Ijincheon and Ihwa, though Chaser himself doesn’t make the wisest decisions either (considering bro thought he could fight an elder and challenger) 😭

I’ve been thinking about something interesting, what would happen if Ijincheon showed up in the world of Chainsaw Man? Not the usual “who wins” take, more like how his personality, technique, and trauma would fit into a place where devils are born from fear.

Physically, he’d be terrifying. His speed, discipline and technique come from a thousand years of purgatory, wars, and duels against swordsmen far beyond normal humans. In a world as physical as Chainsaw Man, he’d feel at home. Power, Denji, Aki, Kishibe, Quanxi, they can all fight, but Ijincheon is a different category. Not because they’re weak, but because he’s used to enemies with much more refined combat sense. If Denji became a real threat, Ijincheon would neutralize him and move on, no drama.

Makima is interesting because people assume she’d be the one to break him. But her method is emotional domination, she needs to make someone submit. Ijincheon doesn’t submit. He doesn’t live by social fear or belonging. Makima couldn’t break him the way she breaks others, and he couldn’t kill her outright because of her regeneration. They’d probably reach a stalemate, frustrating for her, annoying for him, and not much else.

Nayuta is a different beast. She doesn’t need to defeat someone to control them, she just sees everyone as dogs. Meeting her would be like trying to tame a wild wolf. It could go very wrong, or it could work, depending on how they read each other. It wouldn’t be a straight fight, it’d be a clash of wills and instincts. I’d give Nayuta a 60/40 edge, she’s more likely to do what Makima never could, make Ijincheon into a kind of “dog” without the usual limits. She’d use him as a bodyguard, like Ihwa did, and that would change the whole dynamic. If Ijincheon became Nayuta’s dog, Baren wouldn’t even get a word out before Ijincheon cleaned the room. Panic would follow, and Nayuta would finally see the value of a human dog, she’d try to tighten control as much as possible.

Yoru would probably lose because of arrogance. She talks too much, gets cocky, and needs time to set up. Ijincheon doesn’t give people time to posture. It’d be like Jintae Yang, arrogance makes you fall before you realize it.

But the real counter to Ijincheon in Chainsaw Man isn’t Makima, Nayuta, or Yoru, it’s the Falling Devil. She doesn’t fight with strength or speed, she fights with trauma. And Ijincheon’s trauma runs deep, not being able to save Luenna, feeling useless when it mattered most, being a monster with a sword but powerless as a husband, carrying guilt, living with wounds that never healed. The Falling Devil doesn’t care if you “moved on.” She makes you fall emotionally, again and again.

This might be the first time Ijincheon feels real fear, not physical fear but emotional fear. He wouldn’t scream or break down, he’d leave quietly, because he’d know he’s facing something his sword can’t cut. For someone like him, that says everything.

In a physical world like Chainsaw Man, Ijincheon would be a monster in combat. But against the Falling Devil, he’d face something he can’t slice through, can’t overpower, and can’t confront without reopening the wound he hates most.

So the latest chapter offered more insight surrounding what happened between Chaser/Paladin and Bishop at Langorde.

Bishop tries to kill Chaser for good but Paladin sacrifices himself to save Gogyeol.

Paladin is seemingly aware of the the whole project new born and its purpose, and yet opposed Bishop there. He then confirms that the church of thorns is named "church of Arch Antalasia". Anatalasia being the ninth elder's hometown means that the ninth who froze themselves for the sake of humanity is actually god Daltaris

Salvation aka God looks very similar to Paladin. His gift was said to ressemble Victoria's by Engen. Bishop considers Salvation's gift to be perfect and it being the reason behind Salvation not losing to Engen

Prim admits she wouldn't be able to kill Salvation even if she wanted to, which means he wasnt going to die to that blast from Engen for sure. And finally, Baekji noticed something was off about Salvation's gift and warned Engen about it towards the end of the fight, which means we didnt to see the full extent of what Salvation is capable of

My prediction would be that they imbued him with Paladins gift, at least partially, so that Salvation will keep growing stronger mid fight and not die. They stole Reagans data which allows them to genetically pass on gifts and Salvation oddly looks similar to Paladin

Now why is 7 hanging around Effi and Chaser? Bishop has no use for Chaser and was about to kill him so what's the agenda there? We see 7 sneaking behind Effi to give her love advice in chapter 235 and in the latest chapter 7 used Yeon's gift to make Chaser perceive him as Effi. I think we can safely conclude that manipulating Chaser (and Effi if she's still alive) do help 7 achieve his goal in some way

The easy answer would be both Chaser and Effi having useful abilities/haxed gifts, kinda like Dusk. But IMO there's a bit more to it, I think 7 is trying to take advantage of Salvation inhabiting Paladins body by using Chaser to trick God or manipulate him

Controlling the mind of Gasmask doctor to not completely erase Paladins memories of Gogyeol would make Salvation naturally fond of Chaser too
