My husband surprised me with this 1971 Box Sellier Kelly 32 for an early Mother’s Day present and I’m honestly speechless. I can’t believe how beautifully she’s held up over the years.

He spent so much time sourcing this in Japan, and I keep thinking about how I wasn’t even born when this bag was being made. My mom was only 10 years old, living somewhere deep in a jungle, while this Kelly was coming to life in Paris. It blows my mind how it somehow made its way to me, now a mom, slowly curating a collection with both myself and my daughter in mind.

I’m technically “playing the game” but I realized I’d rather wait for the exact pieces I truly want from the maison instead of accepting just any offer for the sake of getting one.

I’ve always loved birth-year bags. I found a birth-year Birkin for my daughter that she’ll inherit one day, and a birth-year Kelly was always on my wishlist too. But my husband went even further and found the oldest Kelly he could in the best condition possible. It’s a bag I didn’t even know I’d appreciate.

I just don't feel like this leather is alligator skin from the Morelet's Crocodile，Because this kind of leather is already extremely rare, my mom said that person told her how special the material was and even sent me really detailed close-up pictures of the leather. I'm really confused

I'm having difficulty reading the blind stamp on the sangles. I'd also appreciate your help with the following questions. Thank you so much!

1. What year was it produced? The blind stamp looks like a plain "I" and I think there's number 6 next to it. I don't know what the number 6 indicates but the plain "I" indicates the bag was made in 1953 but the "Made in France" hot stamp started in 1965 so that's confusing. Also, there is no special symbol next to the hot stamp indicating it's an exotic skin s

2. o that is confusing.

3. What kind of exotic leather is it (e.g. alligator or crocodile, Porosus, Nicoticus, matte or shiny (Lisse))?

4. The lock is attached to the base of the handle and they keys are lost. Is it possible to get replacement keys and clochette from Hermès to this original lock? If so, what would be the estimated cost?

5. What would be the cost for a replacement crocodile crossbody strap?

6. Would it be possible for me to obtain a box and a dustbag for this bag by asking nicely at an Hermès boutique? I considered eBay but I'd prefer to get them from the store if possible. Do you have any advice?

7. If I sent this in to the Hermès Bag Spa, what would be the estimated cost to restore it?

I just noticed a stain on my mini bolide in mysore chèvre. Any advice on how to clean it off? I don’t know how long it’s been there and what it is.. though I’m guessing it’s oil?

If you look at it directly you don’t see it easily. I only saw it because I looked at it from the mirror.
