I just started working in a historical manor that people can rent out for fancy occasions. It's well over 100 years old and many of the staff say that they have had paranormal experiences (shadow people, hearing voices and footsteps, scents, etc.) when closing up late at night. It seems that there are at least 4 different entities.

I am very scared of ghosts and spirits, but everyone says that they've never had a sense of malice from any of their encounters. That's a relief - but I'm still quite scared that I will have to go through the house alone at night to turn off all the lights. A slow plunge into darkness in a big building with entities that I can't see (or might see) really frightens me. I'm also worried that I'll be somewhat targeted because I'm afraid.

Does anyone have any advice for how to make peace with entities in a big house like that? Or how to feel less afraid?

Orbs in new home

Hey, I moved into a new apartment around 8 months ago and since moving in I have been seeing things like white orbs out the corner of my eyes and they have been getting more and more obvious. I’m not really scared very easily so iv just been ignoring them even though some of them have been fairly inexplainable but around 30 minutes ago I walked into the kitchen to double check I turned off my oven and what I can only describe as a large black orb shot across the room when I opened the door, it was very fast and looked like it went straight through the closed window. There was not buzzing like a flying insect would make and it’s kind of freaked me out now.

I stayed in the kitchen to try and figure out what it was , moved things around etc but there was nothing there. I even sat on the floor and just listened quietly for 5 minutes expecting it to be a bug but absolutely nothing. It almost looked like it had smoke coming from it.

Does anyone know of others who have experienced something similar or possibly what it was ?

Thanks

So i’ve lived in a house in the north of england for 20 years now, im 24 years old. The amount of paranormal experiences ive had has been crazy. The earliest stories are from before i had even gained sentience. My mom and other family members would tell me stories of an imaginary friend i had called Bobby. I have no recollection of bobby i only know what i am told, my mom says i would often be awake in the middle of the night having crawled out of my cot and playing in the pitch black on the upper landing. she’d ask me who i was talking to/playing with and i’d say bobby and daddy (my father died months before i was born and my mom kept this info from me as a child). i would sometimes wake her up at like 2am and say “mom bobby wants a bottle or he’s gonna kill you” - no BS this is what i’m told, creepy as f*ck right. This was actually in the house next door to the one i live in now. we lived there around 2 years. this is only the tip of the iceberg of that shit that’s played out over the years.

My earliest experience of haunting was the bathroom taps. I was a very scaredy kid so i would sleep in my mothers bed a lot probably for way longer than i should have lol, and i can remeber for months at a time every night as we would be going to sleep the taps in the bathroom would turn on ever so slightly at first then progressively opening more and more. one of us would have to get out of bed and turn the taps off tight it was very unsettling. mom got a plumber out to look at the taps and he looked at her like she was crazy when she told him the taps where turning on by themselves.

this gradually came to an end and i sort of forgot about it. then a think maybe a year later i was around 13 at this time, it was a dark evening in winter i think and i was getting ready to leave the house. As i was just about to leave the house i heard my TV turn on in my bedroom (i was the only one home). i don’t know how i mustered the courage but i ran upstairs to see what was going on and my TV was turned on 100 volume playing some random chanel, i didnt even know my TV could pick up channels i used to plug a DVD player in, whats crazy about that is when you turned that TV on it usually was preset to 20 volume and would show a blank black screen.

The attic was also creepy as fuck too. it was converted into a spare bedroom for my former step sister and i used to stay up there with her. she was probably like 16 i would have been about 10. i remeber one day a book falling off a shelf for no apparent reason and i swear after she moved out i would still hear footsteps through the ceiling and the sound of plugsockets switching at night from up there.

I also have dreams about ghosts like constantly, i was keeping a dream journal in my phone that i must have deleted by accident and i swear 90 % of the entries would be me fighting ghosts or being chased or them being in my house. i rememeber a dream of me sleeping in the garden cause there was a ghost in the window watching me. AND i went through a phase where i would wake up at 3AM every night like clockwork for no reason. i would just wake up and feel uneasy as hell. sometimes it would be like 3:07 or slightly earlier later but it was so consistent that i wouldn’t even have to check the time when i woke up i would know for a fact it would be 3AM.

I wish this was it but it actually gets a whole lot worse.

Hands down most terrifying moments where when my mom moved in with her new boyfriend an me being a teenager decided that living alone in the house would be cool as hell. it was lol. So one night i’m laid in bed it’s around 11pm and just as im right about to fall asleep my bedroom door f*cking swings open and stops at 90 degrees. the door was clicked shut and i swear to god there was not a single window open and even if it was the door had some friction from the carpet so no amount of wind or draft could generate the force required to push open this door. i wasn’t scared at that moment though. my mind was too perplexed to experience fear i think. i sat up in bed and just stared at the door. After a few moments it dawned on my
how fucking terrifying that was and i went and stayed at my nanas house.

2 weeks later exact same scenario im in bed about to fall asleep and this time my TV remote just fucking flies from from bedside table to the other side of the room. again i went and stayed at my nana’s. My stepdad used to get pissed with me for being scared of my room until he decided to stay in there one night after a fight with my mom. He told my mom later he was so sorry for the way he has been with my about my room he was scared too and ended up staying down stairs. he was a big bald scary looking man too.

the final room experience i had was when i woke up at 3AM one night and for some reason i had the urge to look at the bottom of my room. i swear to god i seen the outline of what looked like a woman i could see long hair and a human outline figure. i layed my head back- realised what id just seen. lifted my head again and the motherfucker was still there. my fight or flight response kicked in and i launched of the fucking bed to punch whatever was standing there. obviously there was nothing there and i had just punched
the air. i did actually just go back to sleep.

I had dubbed the ghost as bobby by this point and sorta came to terms with the fact i have my own own ghost that used to be my friend too. So when i was about 20 years old i got into the habit, whenever i was drunk, of coming home and taunting bobby. i would ask him to move stuff and then call him a “pussy ghost” when he wouldn’t. i swear one night a cigarette i asked to move started rolling back and forth on the table in front of me but no one believed me. One night shit got Real. we had a house plant in the front room i had been taunting the ghost after coming home from the pub. all of a sudden i see the leaves of this plant like fucking swaying asif something was caressing them, my heart fucking sunk and i stood up to have a closer look, half terrified and half curious i edged closer and closer. next thing a moth flew
in the open door from the hall and landed on the ceiling lights and right after that- i swear this on my
fathers grave- the lights in the house went fucking crazy. they would all dim down and then brighten up like sort of pulsating. it was every light in the fucking house, the bathroom light up stairs the hallways all of them, i just fucking bolted outside. and ran to my stepdads house with nothing but my house keys and phone. this became a common occurance when i would get drunk and provoke the ghost- lights would flicker i would end up shouting at the ghost to stop- he would not- i’d usually leave,

Scariest story is actually when my mom and stepdad where staying at home i had been drinking again they where upstairs asleep and i was down stairs listening to music on the TV i decided to test my ghostly friend once and for all with a ouija board. i made it crudely from paper and sat askind questions to bobby. nothing happened. That is until about an hour later when i got up to use the bathroom, half way up the stairs and all i hear is this fucking gianormous ‘CRASH’ from down stairs, it sounded lime someone had launched the heavy glass tabke across the room. i didn’t dare go down right away so i opened my moms bedroom door to see if they had heard it too. they where fast sleep. i went downstairs reluctantly to check out the noise and not a single thing was out of place. i’ve been scared in this house more times than i can even remember.

These experiences would all come with a sickening foreboding feeling. best way to describe it would be a ‘get the fuck out of there’ feeling.

This doll has been causing some anxiety in the house, we can’t find anything on her and I read somewhere that the Nicolette dolls were mass destroyed

Edit : her owner left her in the trunk of his vehicle for three days when he first got her, he brought her home, he didn’t sleep for three nights, now we greet her every morning and every return and things have been calmer. Her old owners are saying that she has to talk to her new owner and she wasn’t for sale until she chose her new home

I grew up in an old house. Two stories tall and built by my great grandfather. I've researched endlessly for anything notable on the property, nothing. My father and I have both had experiences there. Seeing people in mirrors, shadows moving in our peripheral, the basics.

It started for me when I was about 9 years old. My parents were both heavy sleepers, and my brother lived in a loft with a ladder that creaked every step. My parents door was always shut at night.

I woke up sometime after midnight, and headed to the restroom. I was still scared of the dark at this time so I brought a flashlight. Even with the flashlight I would turn on every light in the bathroom, which would wake me up more in turn. Staying up a bit longer was something I was willing to risk if I didn't have to walk in the dark.

On the way back I turned off the bathroom light. I was halfway down the hallway when I tripped and fell against the wall. As soon as I hit the wall something grabbed me from behind, their arms underneath mine. They ran with me to my bed at an inhuman pace. They stopped halfway into my room and threw me at my bed. I landed harshly and looked around, nothing. I called out to my brother, dead asleep. I went out into the hall and turned on the big lights, which I wasn't allowed to turn on at night in fear of waking up others. I knocked on my parents door, nothing but snoring from them both in response.

The only other person in the house at that time was my grandmother who lived downstairs. She hadn't been able to climb up stairs for a decade at that point.

I have no explanation for what happened. I woke up with my armpits sore, and a bruise on my head from where I hit the wall. My parents didn't believe me, neither did my brother. My father only started to believe me when I recounted the tale at 14.

I still remember it so vividly, the wind rushing past me as they ran, looking around scared half to death.

Is there any other thing that could explain what happened to me? If so I would appreciate it. If not, that's alright too. Thank you for your time!

EDIT: replying to some comments reminded me about other things that may be helpful to know:

The entire time I lived in that house I had recurring nightmares (always the same monster (of which there were hoards like zombies), which only ceased after I moved out. All but one of my pets that lived there died young. As of this edit theres a few days until the town hall reopens, and when it does I'll send a property records request over. Hopefully I'll get something helpful in return.

Yes I know people will think this is fake, I don't care that much if you do. I expected to get that reaction, people should be skeptical about what they read on the internet. All I want is some thoughts and possible explanations. Thank you so much

Last night something like a Skinwalker/ Varkolak was haunting me and my friend and it was insane. There was a ritual, paranormal events, knocking on rooftops and door slamming... It was genuinely the scariest shit ever but I want to explore more of that side of the world.

I moved into a house that was made in the 70s in texas, when i first came here i noticed a red haired coin bank thing full of rusty pennies.
The owners just left it here, and they previously had a room called the “red room” upstairs.

Once i was sleeping in that room and i started to hear whispers, and everyone that slept there recalled hearing voices in a different language that didn’t sound human.
my mom slept there too and noticed the same.
Then there was a banging on the closet door like there’s something in there, i screamed and called my mom into the room and she heard it, hesitantly opened the door and there was nothing. That night, it felt like something was under the bed, moving it and tugging on the blanket.
My cat was looking at the door and being afraid.

I couldn’t sleep alone because i was scared, so me and my mom slept in the room downstairs after that. Even then, we heard loud clawing and scratching noises on the carpet, every night, but my cat wasn’t in the room. She turned on the lights and it stopped.
Sometimes there’s a sound like someone is playing around and kicking a ball, and running on the roof.
Every guest that comes over complains about the same thing and events that happen.

There are heavy footsteps upstairs and on the stairway when there is no one home.
A voice that mimics family members when they aren’t there, calling them. Everyone has experienced the same thing.
Then sometimes my mom would read the bible and the doorknobs would turn on their own frantically.

i was doing a spell upstairs in the “red room” and the lights turned off by themselves only in that area of the house when i lit the candle and said my intention, and they started flickering.
