My PR CB deck.

My PR CB deck.

Locals so far with it has been fun, going 3-1 and managing to beat out GW Wing in the last match. I’m honestly thinking about going down to 3 Trans Am Exia in favor of having 4 Eins.

Special shout-out to baby Exia and Virtue for being absolutely amazing despite the 1HP.

Vulture

After an insane 7 hour playtest session I’ve determined that this Vulture list is what I’ll be rocking this format.

10 games vs R/G CB, won 8/10.

10 games against Dynames Rush, won 5/10.

10 Games against B/W Unicorn, won 4/10.

10 Games against Neo Zeong Ping, won 4/10.

10 Games against B/P Rush, won 5/10.

52% win rate, and preferably wants to go first.

Feel free to comment about anything you’d switch out!

Vultures 4-0 Locals

Won locals today with vultures! Been trying to make these guys work for a while now.

Sorry if formatting is bad, posting from mobile.

Round 1; R/G Clan. Close match went very late and managed to top deck a Gundam X to link suppression and win.

Round 2; Blurple. Main thing was just focusing on killing everything they put down or using graceful demeanor keeping myself alive and filling the trash to be able to use freeden 2, and the abilities from. X/DX/last resort. Hitting shields whenever there are no other targets.

Round 3 & 4 were both variations of OYW. Similar to blurple the main thing was to keep their units off the board with the few blockers and graceful demeanor until they run out of steam.

My take on P/R CB

The only inclusion I'm unsure on is Kyrios trans am, but this list is feeling really solid.

Deciding Between Two Lists

Hey fellas, I have two new types coming up the beginning of next week but all the local shops are still doing pre-release events so I won’t get any local practice before the New Types. I’m stuck between these two lists and was wanting some input on what you guys think. Most of the best players in my area like to play control decks mostly Wing of that sways some decisions.

League Militaire

I want to try out some shiny new GD04 cards, so I was thinking about a League Militaire deck. I've gone for a simplistic approach to start and then refine from there. What do you think? What would you change?

Went 4-0 and took first at this weekends GD04 release event!

Good day all! Still floating on Cloud 9 as I surprised myself this weekend going undefeated with this chaos of a deck, and just wanted to share some thoughts for pilots who are attending a Sealed event too 😀 Apologies in advance for a long read!

This was my 3rd Sealed release event (missed GD03), and I'm sure a lot of players who play in these sort of events already know that due to the format of it, it's a good bet to just go with mostly smaller units and overwhelm your opponent before he takes you down. That and a whole lot of luck.

Back in GD01, I was really unlucky with my 6x packs where I only ever got rares and the 'best' card I got was Shamblo (was shiny and big). So I said, "Fuck it, let's make a weenie deck" as I was always a weenie player back in Magic (since beta, lol, I'm old 😆). I got top 2, went 4-1. My last opponent, pretty much thought of the same thing, only difference is he didn't put any thing past level 4. Noted. Did the same thing in GD02, but lady luck wasn't as good to me, finished 6th. Then came GD04, opened all 6x packs to make 40, and immediately set aside anything over level 4. Commander cards, Pilots, bases, anything that was lvl4 or below was in the 'good pile'. Then I looked closer and realized I had a bit more Trinity/CB so I rolled with that and to see if there was any synergy to it. Lastly, when i couldn't make 40 with the lvl4s, i chose to risk it and try to fit lvl 5s in. Well, it worked!

Some notes on how my matches went and which cards were the 'stars' of the deck and came in clutch.

1st game was against a well-versed Zaft player who loves doing technical stuff and his combos. We pretty much had the same board at one point, but my 2x Exias came out and did an excellent job on his 2 hp units, and eventually overwhelmed him with units.

2nd game, my opponent who also won his first game also did what I did, and literally made his deck to overwhelm but he went league militia way as that's what he got the most in his packs.

3rd game my opponent couldn't stabilize unfortunately and as he was sitting beside me during our 1st game, he saw what the Exias did, and as luck would have it, both came out again early.

Last game was the most difficult of all as lady luck got bored and left me for a bit to wander around I guess, as I started off good with a hipheavy and a wallaby, but was neck and neck for most of the game, and he was able to attack me with his Gundam DX which took 2 of my shields, and his Esperanza took my last shield which at this point i think lady luck returned to my side as i Top decked an Izuma Colony base. The last 2 turns for us went something like this: he had a Gundam DX and damaged Esperanza (1/3) and a Dopp on board, no bases, 1 shield. I only had a Throne Zwei with no link, no base, no shields left. I put down a Dynames, rest it and take his Dopp out. I put the Izuma Colony down and decide (after a loong think) I'll take his last shield. No burst, whew. Back to his turn, he puts down 2 more units, with no links, but there's still the DX and the Esperanza. So 2 swings, which pretty much wins him the game. My heart was racing, and I genuinely told him, that whatever happens, i sincerely thank him for an amazing game and for being an amazing player. He also decides (after a long time too) to go for it and swing DX into my 0/4 base and his plan was to use Esperanza to deal the final blow. But I had my single, Destined Battle in my hand, and used it on the Esperanza. My mind was blown, couldn't believe that plan worked! I know it's just a release event, but i was ecstatic!

Later on we discussed how it could have went, and he said if I he stuck with his gut, he should have went for the Zwei instead with his DX, and used his Esperanza on the Dynames as He. Had. BACKUP. That would definitely, totally won him that game when it went back to his turn. Lady luck was definitely on my side, but I still believe that a deck that overwhelms your opponents early and quickly is the way to go as trying to link with anything is hard on these kinds of format, but if you do pull those links and you can make them work, use them for sure :)

Thanks for bearing with me, and hope you found the read a bit entertaining at least.

Final thoughts:

- Hipheavy, I never started a game without it in my opening hand and it's really worked out for me. a 1-1 1/2 is awesome!

- Exias were a beast in all my games and they can absolutely wreck early game what with all the 2/2s in the game right now.

-Trinity/Throne Drei combo - it was great to get this going, and for those turns where you can't do anything, chip away at your opponents units and turn it into your favour! Good goes those token units or Virtues (and Exias) that a lot of people were running

- Destined Battle. OMG, I thought it was so-so, but having personally saved me and won me that match, This card is a game-changer. I would go out and say a must put in every green deck!

TLDR; Went with a deck this release event that pretty much is just filled with weenies (low kevels) and overwhelmed my opponents quickly, win the whole thing with the help of some standout cards (Great for this format) and possible real game-changer in Destined Battle!

Thanks again for reading and have a great release weekend all!!! ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜

Working on my Zeon deck. Any thoughts on this?

Debating swapping out the LR GFreD for GQuuuuuuX (GD03-034). I've tried it with both and I'm torn because GFreD gets out faster, and thus more often, but GQuuuuuuX usually does more once it's out.

Financier was added on a whim because I was curious to see if it was useful at all. It actually saved my bacon in a couple of games.

Battle of Aces is one I'm torn on. When it's useful it's really useful, but it's not useful in every game. I have to get stuff in the right order for it to do a lot.

Grading advice

I recently pulled this card and after some research I found that it is the 5th most valuable card in the set.

Should I get it graded? And if so which grading company is best? (Live in the uk)

G/W Academy

So the new green academy cards are kind of fun. I am helping my wife build a deck with them and could use everyone's thoughts on this build. I got the white Pharact and the Michaelis in for some decent generic Academy links. Bird modes are in there for the ex resource enabling, 4 might be a bit much so I'm thinking about dropping it to 3. With the possibility of so many linkable units, I do have the Earth House as the base. Level 6 rebuild to regain any of the lost commands that I may need. The green Suletta and Elan are actually quite decent, I wasn't too sure on Suletta but being able to keep spending the ex resource is quite fun. This deck seems to be rather gimmicky, but I feel like it has some minor potential behind it. Zoworts are kind of a throw-in for potential early game blockers, that and Lfrith apparently doesn't count as Academy. I was possibly thinking about dropping the unforeseen incident for some Chuatury to try and max out on potential Academy commands, but the level restriction kind of kills it for me and I have a potential of 14 pilots already. What do you all think?

CB

How are the CB decks looking? I ended up getting the starter deck and was wondering how to build it. I wanna change out the purple for the red support it just got.

Went 7-1 with R/P Minerva this Weekend at Baton Rouge

Just wanted to share this since I've spent the past few weeks or so trying to make pre-GD-04 Minerva Squad work. I feel like this deck has a ton of interesting lines of play that vary from matchup to matchup.

The games were as follows:

Round 1: B/W Unicorn. Lose. This was my one loss. I bricked extraordinarily hard. We went about 25 cards deep into the deck and I did not see a single Baby Impulse or Force Impulse, so he was able to grind me out. Unfortunately because my one loss was R1, I was not able to do better than top 16.

Round 2: W/R Qubeley. Win. Opponent opened very aggressively and was able to get me down to two shields before I stabilized. I was able to trade linked Force Impulses into his big links and stabilized as he ran out of cards.

Round 3: B/R Banshee. Win. This is usually my weakest matchup, but my opponent was playing a lower curve version with Ankshas and Guntanks which improved my chances. The game went super late and I had to hold up 5 resources for Improved Technique + Battle of Aces so that I wouldn't lose to a Banshee link on the spot. (I had already spent all of my Close Combats at this point).

Round 4: W/G Wing Zero. Win. My opponent drew very lopsided - he got a bunch of Kiras and Aile Strikes but no Wing Zeros. The most crucial play this game was using burn to remove Altron before it became a problem.

Round 5: Blurple. Win. I opened 1st From, Adapt and Mika so I was able to hide my red color for a while and used it to catch my opponent off-guard. I fought for board control all game, until I found all 3 Gquuuuux. Then I took out all 6 shields over two turns.

Round 6: Blurple. Win. The closest of the three Blurple games I played today, but also the one where I misplayed the most. I planned around having symmetrical pings in had when I had none, so I ended up wasting a close combat burst on an Anksha that I ended up trading into anyway. I was able to stabilize with a Force Impulse link cleaning up the board and floating into a blocker.

Round 7: Blurple. Win. This one was also fairly close, but he ran out of cards before me. I was sitting on two Battle of Aces, and drew into two Adapts which let me clear any threats he put on board.

Round 8: Unicorn OYW. This was by far the toughest game. My opponent just kept drawing cards and going wide. Cycling Force Impulse into Blast Impulse was the only thing keeping me in the game. As this round was going on, I overheard that the downpair won (edit: lost), so this would be the last round of the event - meaning that I had to win to have any chance for an invite. The game actually hinged on my last shield being a burn command or a base - and it was a base. My opponent was crushed when this happened, but he was a very good sport afterwards. Kudos, Matt - you'll top the next one, I'm sure.

Overall, I'm happy to have done well with a deck that was considered off-meta in GD-03. Since GD-04 will significantly shake up this archetype, I'm retiring the list after today.

Question regarding Damage Mitigation from Lunamaria and Rey

Situation:

I have a linked Destiny Gundam with Shinn Asuka on board. Destiny has ZAFT and Minerva Squad trait.

I play a Lunmaria onto a linkable unit e.g. Lunamaria's Zaku Gunner. I choose the Destiny for Lunamaria's effect to take Destiny's damage.

I also play Rey Za Burrel onto a linkable unit e.g. Rey's Zaku Warrior.

-

In this scenario, do I target the Destiny or Lunamaria's Zaku to mitigate further damage for the attacking Destiny for the turn?

Losing because of deck count feels bad

Time ended. Both turns over. Both have a base up. I have game next turn but since I used a mill deck it went by deck count and I lost.

I have 3 damage on their base and at least 4 units on board against their 1/1 Leo.

Oh well but probably the worst loss ive experienced!

Thanks reading for my locals loss rant lol

Vulture help

So, has anyone else tried a vulture deck with little to no success? I feel that P/W is the way to go, but even with the new support it feels lacking. The DX being able to blow up a base right before suppression goes off is kind of amazing, if you can get it to work correctly. The standard X needing to not only be linked, but also need 7 cards in the trash is kind of redundant. I mean Grandpa only needs to be paired to give all your units +1ap. Even the Providence, which is kind of in the same stat line as X, only needs to be paired with a Zaft pilot to give all Zaft units their +2ap. Even the new Minerva package seems to be a better fit compared to the Vulture package. What are everyone else's thoughts? Is this a fever dream that just needs to be put on the back burner, or is there some kind of traction here?
