Hi there,
We are conducting a research study on the systemic and structural factors that impact paramedics and firefighters in terms of overdose response. If you are a paramedic or firefighter from Alberta (Calgary, Edmonton, and rural regions) and are willing to participate, please email avery.sapoznikow@ucalgary.ca if you are interested. Poster attached. and more information below.
Thank you!
-------------
Purpose of the study:
The purpose of this study is to gain an understanding of the systemic and structural factors that impact first responders in the context of overdose response. This includes how policy, workplace practices, standard protocols, etc. impact the work of first responders during overdose response.
Why is this research important?
Canada is currently experiencing a toxic drug poisoning epidemic. Individuals are overdosing at higher rates than ever before, often with treatment resistant overdose syndromes and a recurrent cycle of repeated overdoses. First responders are at the frontlines of managing the consequences of this epidemic. In general, first responders experience higher rates of burnout, stress, and mental health symptoms than the general population. Within the context of the toxic drug poisoning epidemic, these rates are even higher, resulting in more instances of stress-leave, widespread compassion fatigue, and the expansion of roles and expectations of first responders
What happens to my information?
All information gathered during interview will be reviewed multiple times - first review will confirm the accuracy of transcripts to the audio recordings, second review will anonymize all identifiable information (e.g., names, addresses, locations, irrelevant details of overdose response incidents, etc.) so as to ensure privacy and confidentiality, and a third review will begin data analysis (coding and aggregation of data) using my methodology. All data is stored on a secure cloud-based storage system controlled by the University of Calgary, with access restricted to myself and supervisor. Participants can choose to withdraw their participation at any point up to two weeks following participation, after which the data will be anonymized and not possible to be matched to a specific participant.
Car insurance
I just got quoted a ridiculous $363 a month for car insurance for a 2026 Honda Civic. Currently pay $150 for a 2014 Civic at the same company, Belair. Where is everybody getting their car insurance? Any tips on getting it cheaper? For reference, 24M with clean record and 9 years experience. Thanks!
Please Help Me Find My Lost Cat
Day 4 of my baby being missing… 😞
Please anyone if you see him or think you may have seen him contact me! It becoming difficult to function without him. We’ve added a reward to anyone who finds him and brings him home! Please Grande Prairie we need you!
Escaped by Grande Pointe Apartments, KFC Plaza. He’s a brown and black colourpoint cat, big unmistakable blue eyes. Tall and chubby, big paws. A meow so distinctive I’d know it anywhere, like a yowl or howl.
He is neutered and microchipped!! No collar. Indoor cat.
Please❤️💔
An update to the Minecraft Grande Prairie project
This is a 0.6 scale autogenerated map of the entire city of Grande Prairie, rendered in Minecraft. It was generated using a program called Arnis, which is an open-source piece of software that creates maps using OpenStreetMap geospatial data. It uses real elevation data for topography.
I have done extensive work to expand on the project since I last posted. Mostly on roads (the autogen ones are either too small or have improper markings, or don't have the correct number of lanes etc) but many real buildings have been reconstructed on the autogen footprints.
This is a work in progress, with more posts to come.

Questions raised around who can access Alberta’s out-of-country health care funding
is this a new low for Canada when a patient has to pay for her own neck after being hit by a car?
Tired of the UCP and Extremist Policies?
My political ideologies fall fairly central and looking a Peter’s platform, he’ll bring back sanity to Alberta politics.
As someone who will also look to vote NDP, I hope other moderates look to the Tory Party to oust the separatist UCP government. An NDP or Tory Party would be a win for Alberta.
Will i get a ticket?
So i was driving in 100st between 116 ave and 108 ave
And I realize too late that there were two people standing on the side of the road with visibility vest and I was driving like 56km/h in a 50 zone and when I did saw them I slowed down to 50. When i passed by the two people they went for the person who was jaywalking and they didnt seem to try to read my plate. (I didnt see any visible police vehicle or any of the those speed traps that has "drive safe")
Looking for a roommate
Hello everyone,
I am a 23-year-old gay male looking for a roommate to lease an apartment somewhere in Grande Prairie. Please DM me personally if this is something that you would be interested in doing.
Found in junk drawer..
Curios if anyone knows what this little battery operated device would go with or be used for? It has on off switch, and mode. The light flashes on one click, solid green or red for 2, 3, clicks. Packing and just wondering if I should toss or if maybe goes with something else? Tia
Cat traps
Hello GP Reddit, looking to borrow a couple cat traps.
For context**
We have multiple cats peeing on/around our house. Spraying on the front door/front area/lower windows/backyard, etc…. Took the garbage out tonight and it REEKS of cat pee. Because of this, I cannot open my windows or let my inside cat onto his catio (his own personal patio that is fenced and contains him in a small, raised area).
For those who may ask: yes I have contacted bylaw in regard to renting traps, and they have none available. They have advised that I can buy my own, or borrow someone else’s.
Please let me know if I can borrow, or if anyone knows somewhere in town I can purchase one. Thank you.
Does any tattoo artist do a barter system?

Piercing places
Does anyone know any piercing shops that do inverted vertical labrets/kitty fangs? I know some places don’t offer them due to potential gum/teeth damage but I think they’re cute and wanna get mine done.
Why's the job market so hard to get into here??
So I'm relatively new to GP, and I'm wondering if that has something to do with it?
I have an extensive background in sales and customer service but it's like no one is even reading my resume. In the past, I've always found it easy with my experience. I'm starting to feel defeated, any insight?
**Finding a GP doctor to actually sign AISH forms?**
Has anyone else in Grand Prairie had a nightmare of a time trying to find a doctor to actually complete the AISH medical report?
I’m not looking for "how-to" advice. I need to know where to go to find a physician who will actually sit down and review my files. I’ve already tried the walk-in clinics, the PCN (Primary Care Network), and even Telus Health doctors. I’ve done the work, but nobody is helping.
I’m dealing with rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, chronic heart failure, and chronic kidney disease. It is a vicious circle that never stops: the RA inflammation hammers my heart, the heart failure forces my kidneys to work harder until they fail, and the kidney issues loop right back around to make everything else worse. It’s a constant, overlapping cycle where one condition feeds the other. It isn't going to stop.
Why is it so hard to find a doctor who will actually take the time to do their job? I’m tired of the "guesswork" and the lack of testing. I need a physician who will actually look at the evidence and put pen to paper instead of giving me the runaround.
Is anyone else in Grand Prairie hitting this same wall? If you know of a doctor or clinic in town that actually reviews history for complex cases like this, please let me know. I’m exhausted and I need a real lead.
Backyard fire pit ideas?
Looking to get an inground fire pit put in, looking for ideas/advice, did you do it yourself or get a company to build it Etc.
Tired of 20% markups and "Service Fees"? Just launched BuzzBasket in Grande Prairie – No service fees, no tips, and we actually support local stores.
Hey Grande Prairie!
We just launched BuzzBasket, a new delivery platform for liquor and cannabis, and we’re doing things a bit differently because we’re tired of how the big apps treat our local businesses and drivers.
Most delivery platforms charge your favorite local stores 20-30% in commissions and then hit you with a "service fee" on top of that. We think that’s garbage.
Here’s the BuzzBasket breakdown:
• Zero Service Fees: What you see is what you pay.
• No Tip Option: We don’t believe in subsidizing wages with your generosity. Instead, the entire delivery fee goes directly to the driver.
• Supporting Local: We charge retailers a fraction of what the big guys do (5% vs 20%+), so local shops actually keep their margins.
• Fully AGLC Compliant: We’ve built the tech from the ground up to follow every Alberta regulation to the letter (ID checks, ProServe/SellSafe, etc.).
We officially went live 2 weeks ago and we’re adding more local stores every day. If you’re looking to support Alberta businesses without getting gouged by "convenience fees," check us out.
Launched in Grande Prairie http://www.buzzbasket.ca
Support local. Pay the drivers. Skip the fees. 🥂
