Cleaning these Rims
How often do you wash? I try to hand wash every other week. One thing I will say is cleaning these rims are a pain in the butt, but when they are clean *chefs kiss*

Looking to buy my buddies 2012 Golf R, has 198k miles, recently had the timing belt tensioner idler, timing belt, and water pump replaced. Does come with some modded goodies from what I've seen. Test drove it today, pretty fun car, never owned one of these or know much about them. Do ya'll recommend buying it? if anyone could tune in, I'd appreciate it.
I got a good deal on an used H&R flush spacer kit. It’s 10mm in front and 15mm on the back. Works well with my H&R lowering springs. No rubbing at all!
Week 1 with new Golf R 2026.
Love the car, not loving the Harman Kardon system. For something that comes in a $50k+ Golf R, the audio feels like it was tuned by someone who only listens to podcasts.. The center channel is thin, the mids get muddy, and the sub hits like it’s made of recycled Tupperware.
After way too many hours of reading threads, and convincing myself I’m not going full audiophile, I think I’ve finally landed on a simple upgrade path
Hertz Stage 1 (Competition) Center Channel https://rs-acoustics.com/products/mk8
Pretty much everyone says this fixes the weak center sound. Vocals get clearer, the front stage feels more “in front of you,” and you don’t need an amp or DSP to notice the difference. Easy win.
RS Acoustics GR8 Subwoofer - https://rs-acoustics.com/products/gr8
This one is new, which is exciting… but also means there aren’t many reviews yet. Still, it looks like the first sub that’s actually tuned for the MK8/MK8.5 HK system. Proper MDF box, Rockford P3 shallow driver, plug‑and‑play harness, and it’s designed to work well with the stock HK amp. Basically the OEM sub, but done correctly.
~$1k CAD all in.
Quick note on the ARS24 subs (Rock‑8, etc.)
Those are great options too, but they really need an amp (like the AIR‑2) to get the full impact out of them. On the stock HK amp, they work… but you’re only getting about half of what they can actually do. The GR8 seems like the better “OEM‑amp‑only” choice.
Hoping this combo finally makes the HK system sound like it belongs in a Golf R.
Course rating is 76.2, slope is 148. That gives a 10 handicap roughly 8 extra strokes on the day.
Rory shot 65. So where does that leave your average weekend golfer around Augusta?

I’ve always been a huge fan of Alfa Romeo style rims, and with the release of the queenstown for the facelift
gti, I’ve been debating getting me a set for my Mk8, but just couldn’t find any pics online and so was wondering if anyone took the plunge?
Just had my estorils painted before summer season. Super happy with the outcome. Definitely recommend!
Picked this up about 3 months ago. Came with the silver mirror caps and chrome badges, so I’ve blacked out as much as I can so far.
Now looking to finish it off with some new rims.
I actually don’t mind the stock wheels, but I’ve run 19s/20s in the past and they were more trouble than they’re worth (ride quality, tyres, etc.), so leaning towards 18s this time.
Thinking full black, preferably something a bit mesh-style.
If anyone’s running black 18s, would love to see some pics for inspiration.
Also keen to hear if you noticed any difference in performance or driveability going down to 18s.
Hey guys, recently was driving home from work on the highway when a piece of a metal sheet came out from under a vehicle in front of me and got my grille pretty good. If you guys have any tips or ideas on how to fix or minimize the eye sore would be much appreciated!
Side note: Got the hood and painted parts of the front bumper PPF’d when purchasing. Now wishing I went ahead and had them do the whole bumper.
Hey there,
I had a MK8 GTI (manual) and absolutely LOVED my Neuspeed catback. I am looking at a MK8.5 R (auto, by default) and am this close to getting the Neuspeed for the R. I don't see much conversation over the last few years about it and am wondering if anyone can share any feedback. I most concerned about drone, which I thought was perfect on the GTI (basically none).
I see a lot of conversation on the APR, but honestly I prefer the design of the Neuspeed. I realize the GTI/R similar in a lot of ways, but I'd prefer to hear some insight before I go to the valveless Neuspeed and regret it on the R for some reason.
As the title says, my 2013 MK6 is about to hit 120k miles, and I want to get a comprehensive service of all the preventative maintenance stuff done as I’m thinking of tuning soon (probably just IE Stage 1). I unfortunately don’t have service records but all I’ve done since I bought it is regular oil changes and replaced the PCV. I know that the cam follower and the timing belt are likely due, could someone help out with a full list of things to replace/check?
I’m 22 years old looking at a second hand golf r with 65k miles (100k odd kms). My main concern is going for a euro car. Is this too many kms for a second hand performance car, even if it looks clean and hasn’t been shredded. I’ve also been looking into the focus ST a bit more affordable but fwd.
Any thoughts, opinions and personal experiences would be greatly appreciated
