What is this line on my modded GBA?
Hi everyone,
I've modded my GBA recently and while playing today (did some trading via link cable) this black line suddenly appeared on the screen. And if I say suddenly, I mean it. I was just changing the game, and when I booted the other game -- boom -- line of doom. Is this what I think it is ie delamination? I already took the GBA apart to check the connections of the screen and everything looks fine, aside from this sudden line that goes through all of the screen in a clean stroke. Is my screen broken? :<
PS I've had it for 5 months, so no time at all.
took a chance with Facebook Marketplace and got this for £45
found a really lovely seller on Facebook who swapped me 2 games that I don't play anymore and £45 for this and it's in really lovely condition. there's no scratches on the screen at all and literally no scuffs anywhere. he's also offered me and said he'll keep an eye out for games for me as well. he really made my week.
Built my own GBA in Tokyo! Dream come true!
Went with the clear body, black d-pad, A/B buttons, and side rails. Went white r/L buttons and power switch.
Making a Game Boy emulator for college
Hey guys, I have been making a gameboy emulator for my college project, and i was wondering what the legality around cartriges are.
If i buy a cartrige and dump it, i can legally use it.
But what if i have a cartrige but no dumper, can i just downlaod a rom online and since i have the game its fine?
This emulator will only be used personally and wont be distributed, and the game roms are purely to show the funcionality lf the emulator.
P.S.
Yes, I know there are other roms for testing like Blargggs but i also wanted to show that it can actually run a game yk?
Thanks guys any help would be appreciated
Price difference for PAL games!?
I'm using the PriceCharting app to keep a record of my collection and see the price fluctuations (not selling just interested) however there seems to be a difference between PAL and... not PAL! But I thought Gameboy cartridges were region free so what difference does it make?

DS Style v6 for the Omega DE released: Start page, Favourites, Box art, Dark mode support for every colour & more!
Hi everyone,
I’ve been working really hard on my custom firmware for the EZ-Flash Omega DE since I last posted here.
This new update is a complete overhaul of the menu system, featuring a new start screen that’s faithful to the original DS software, along with a much nicer settings screen.
I've added all the colour options from the original DS software, which are now all compatible with dark mode. You also no longer need to reflash the cartridge every time you want to change colours, which is a really nice quality-of-life improvement.
Quite a lot has been improved and added in this update, so I’m linking the GBAtemp thread below, where you can find more information:
Update: If you downloaded v6.0 yesterday I would suggest updating to v6.2 for better sound handling and significantly faster menus.
Gameboy Appreciation Post
Just wanted to talk how much I loved going back to the Gameboy, it started modding my childhood GBA SP 101 with a new shell and batter and some fixes and getting an EZ Flash Omega DE. Then I just couldn't not want a regular GBA which then I imoorted from japan and heavily moded it with a shell, V5 LCD, Type-c battery, and an implifier. I then also had to get a GBC that I got in pieces, I bought an original board from AliExpress and got an OLED mod kit with an amplifier.
So far I've beaten many games like:
- Mole mania.
- Link's Awakening.
- Kirby's Dreamland 1 & 2.
- Konami's TMNT 1 & 2.
- both kuru kuru kururin games.
- Rhythm Heaven (Silver).
- Mega Man Zero games.
- Super Mario World.
- Kim possible Trilogy.
It's the most fun when playing old games but in an improved state with modding and romhacking, it's so much better than playing them on a new remaster on a new device. For example, the Mega Man Z games I already got them on switch but the it's hard to play GBA and GB games on a large screen even in the switch's portable state screen. And the improvements they did on the remastered collection didn't do enough to me especially for the first game.
My latest build, inspired by frutiger aero.
IPS V5 by Hispeedido, fully soldered and has touch pads for all possible input preferences. I built this one for fun (and because I had a spare GBA), but it's not my daily GBA. That one still goes to the clear purple IPS V5 I've been using.
I just really like this color combination paired with Pokémon Sapphire.
Is this PCB re-flashable?
There's a shop that sells (openly disclosed) repro carts locally and I wondering if they're reflashable. I can see its got FRAM which is neat and unexpected, but didn't wanna just blow $20 on a spare to attempt a rewrite if anyone here can help identify!
The no Bratzboy is complete
It’s done.
Here’s a list of things
Audio works
Saves work and are written to the sd card
Custom intro logo
Action is A, menu is B, on off is start, mute is select
Charges off the inbuilt usb
Powered by an old Nokia battery
Only has pokemon red installed
Sadly I couldn’t get the sd card to work with a library of games, trying to run the games off it made it super unstable and would crash after a minute so I chose pokemon red as the game.
Right time to put this on my shelf and never play it again.
Happy 20th anniversary to The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages!
nintendoclassics.netHelp me with a few questions please?
Recently picked this up for $60. Seller originally wanted $100, but after messaging back and forth decided on $60 because it's rough and has no charger. I have no idea whether it works or not. it was a older gentleman who said he bought it back in like 2006, and haven't touched it in years, his grandkids don't care for the old stuff but last time he used it, it did work. Also said he had multiple higher offers for shipping but picked me cuz I was local and messaged first.
I'm a sucker for OEM stuff tho. So, I'd rather spend the extra $25 on a OEM charger, and if possible another OEM faceplate? But holy christ are the faceplates so expensive.
Does the screen look decent? Are the third party chargers worth it? What about faceplates? If the screen is cooked, how easy it is to replace it?
Alternate Stickers for Ruby / Sapphire.
It took a while, but I finally managed to track down all of these vintage sticker variants exclusive to Ruby and Sapphire in acceptable condition.
The stickers with the English text come from a mini-sticker album that got released in Japan (I'm pretty sure that there is one of these little albums for each game after gen 3). They come with all sorts of stickers, like for each pokemon in that gen, pokeballs, gym leaders and so on.
I managed to buy from a seller both albums with the cart stickers still unused, but my Japanese Sapphire copy had no sticker either, so I had to put it in. Tracking down the carts isn't too difficult on sites like Mercari or Yahoo auctions, same thing with the albums, the hard thing is finding them in decent condition or with the stickers unused.
The stickers with the Japanese logo come from the Coro Coro "Pokemon Official Strategy Guide" and they are called "dress up stickers". It's as it sounds, a strategy guide for Ruby / Sapphire, but it also includes a small sticker sheet for the GBA and one sticker for each of the game carts.
I love Ken Sugimori's original art, and small memorabilia like this is great to collect. I'm also fairly certain that there is one more sticker that has the gen 3 starters, but I'm unsure where it comes from, maybe I'll find a cart with it someday.
Anyway I just wanted to share these in case there were more Sugimori enthusiasts around here, enjoy the little trivia.
Got ALL of this for €35 (shipping included), w or l deal?
Also wondering if I should mod it?
Gameboy Color Restoration Help
Hi everyone, so recently I was asked to fix a Gameboy Color with no working sound.
When plugged into the headphone jack sound came out, so I got to cleaning.
I cleaned everything, replaced the speaker, and disassembled the headphone jack as I noticed a lot of corrosion. Upon reassembling and attempting to put the headphone assembly back on the board, a piece fell out of the P5/P5L section where one of the legs go. And now there’s no sound at all.
Is there anything I can do or is this GBC done for?
All in an evening's work (and extremely satisfying)
Bought this Gameboy on a whim during the last 20 minutes of an auction. Arrived this afternoon and was in pretty horrible shape. I'm talking battery cover being essentially welded shut with battery acid (see last picture), some sort of brown goo inside that I'm pretty sure has the next strain of hantavirus and a few missing screws.
Well, it appears that after soaking the battery cover in isopropyl alcohol, getting the old batteries out and flushing the entire unit with isopropyl alcohol while taking it apart to clean the case, the old thing popped back to life like it'd only taken a short nap. It even came with a copy of Tetris 2! Only issue is that the speaker seems entirely toast, but that's secondary since I pretty much always play on mute anyways.
It's stupidly satisfying fixing these things. This thing is going to get an IPS upgrade and new shell.
Pokémon blue crashing on GBP
So I recently bought this Pokémon blue reproduction and it seems to be crashing any help??
