Is Samsung Galaxy A54 still worth it in 2026, or should I save more for the A55?

Hey everyone 👋 I’m currently looking for a midrange Samsung phone and I’m stuck between the Galaxy A54 and A55.

Here in my area, the prices are roughly: A54 (used): around 3.2–3.5 million IDR A55 (used): around 4.5–4.9 million IDR So the gap is about 1–1.5 million IDR

My usage: daily social media YouTube/Netflix college stuff casual photography some gaming (MLBB, PUBG, maybe Genshin occasionally) planning to use the phone for around 3–5 years

From what I’ve seen: A54 still seems really good for the price but I’ve also heard complaints about heating and micro stutters meanwhile A55 seems smoother, cooler, and more future-proof

For people who have used both: Is the A55 actually worth the extra money? Does the A54 still hold up well in 2026? How bad (or noticeable) are the stutters/heating issues on the A54 in daily use?

Would love to hear long-term experiences from actual users 🙏

Hack to get better battery life A54

Update the device to max avaliable

Replace battery

Back up your data

Reset

Costs some money but worth the change

I was charging 3 times a day and max screen on time was 4 hrs

Now i can just charge it once a day and no worries till night. Its a relief actually for me

Thanks

May Software Update!

It is only a security update though.

I thought we are going to get the One UI 8.5 this month?! 😐

Android 17 & OneUI 9

I saw some news about Google event and couldn't find anything meaningful. What features could our A54 get, like seriously. It seems like all about AI and the key thing is android is not a standalone software anymore it will turn something bigger with Gemini.

OneUI also follow this AI trend with new featuers only limited to the latest S series phones, so I don't know what's the point of the software updates anymore.

Let's talk about that stuff in general. The only thing I find meaningful on 8.5 is the quick panel customizations and be able to change battery indicator to percentage.

Pls do not buy these phones at MSRP a much better option is s25fe or if you want cheaper and a56 brand new for £250

A56 is better than a37 and only slightly worse than a56

Also if your gonna reply to this post with better options please do not include phones with mediatek demensity 7000 series or snapdragon 7 series because those are worse than exynos 1x80 series exynos 1x80 is beetwen snapdragon 7+ series and snapdragon 8s in performance if your trying to recommend a gameing alternative

What I recommend also instead of these phones

Poco x8 pro for gaming get the pro max if you have enough money

Honor 600 pro for camera

Nothing phone 4a and 4a pro for os and camera

Redmi note 15 pro plus for all rounder alternative it's cheaper but worse slightly but better in some areas

OnePlus Nord 6 as ultimate gameing battery phone

So inconculsion avoid a57 or a37 right now

Recently, I've noticed that my Galaxy A54 5G is slowly getting bad because some of its settings aren't working great anymore.

First, the battery starts draining fast.

Secondly, it starts overheating too much.

Thirdly, the adaptive brightness doesn't work properly anymore.

And now, my phone's Bixby setting from the gallery app just selected by itself.

Do you guys think this might be the time for me to get a new phone?

If it is, then which phone from what company should I get?

Camera quality and how to make it better?

Hey guys!

I have this phone for over a year now, and.. I mean the camera is not the worst I have ever seen. Sometimes it can take beautiful photos, with details like shadows etc(first 2), but sometimes its REALLY bad (not to offend my cat in the pic haha*).. mainly when I zoom in, and thats the problem.. when I go to a concert, I want the photos to be good, and I wanna be prepaired haha. Do you guys have any tips and tricks how to make the photos/videos better?

* I will put photos to show what i mean

Now that Samsung officially started rolling out One UI 8.5 in South Korea for the S25 series, Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7, when do you guys think my Galaxy A54 5G will get that update globally?

I've noticed that every time when I check for updates on my A54, I see a green line on the right.

Does this mean my phone's failing officially and that it's time I need a new one?

Just for fun...there are some telltale signs, but my current FZ82 bridge camera isn't properly set up yet, I guess, as the one I just sold as a used up repair object took slightly better phones. I do understand, though, that some people consider the convenient phone a sufficient source of photo and video material.

One ui 5.1 was the best, but then I updated till one ui 7 and the sot got worse. My biggest concern is the SOT, so should I update to one ui 8 or stay where I'm at? Also security patch level is still 2025, is it a big deal?
