This small armoire was done for a young girl who loves the Wizard of Oz! Her mother asked me to do it for her as a birthday present.
Hello, furniture flipping enthusiasts! Picked up this cabinet off marketplace for $15. Not sure if that was a good deal or not, because it's got some...issues. The current paint job is not great. It's missing the two side glass panels, which previous owner remedied by stapling on some burlap fabric. The knobs are way too small for this piece IMO also. But, for some weird reason, I dig this thing (it sure beats the wobbly, plastic/engineered wood cabinet thing I got off Amazon a couple years back).
I don't know anything about furniture flipping, but I really love seeing what y'all can do, and am hoping you can give some tips and suggestions. Anything from how to go about removing this current paint and repainting, which color swatch you like, what style of knobs would look good, what to do about the side panels, to how to fix the corner damage. Appreciate your input!
I’m trying to not have an anxiety attack over this. Recovering chair seats with a print fabric, and I know the motif has to be centered. But there are at least 2 different motifs I think, and the only way I can fit 6 seats is to use two different centers, unless I order another piece of fabric. Even with that, the seat with the square motif (with measuring tape) is off to the back maybe 2 inches. I’m adding extra photos, hoping another set of eyes will see what I’m not. Ok to use 2 different centers? Is that square ok offset as it is? Give up and order more fabric?
Sorry if this subreddit isn't meant for newbies.
Hi there, I’m looking for any advice on how I should go about restoring this chair and ottoman, or if it’s even worth it at all.
I got this chair, a second one just like it in even worse shape, and the ottoman for $60 off marketplace the other day. I loved the color and look of the leather (and to be honest, somehow the camera made them look way better than they were). I personally feel like they have the potential to look really nice, but I am unsure if I’m gonna be able to achieve it while keeping the color.
I’ve never done a project like this on my own, but I do have an idea as to how I’m going to go about this. I’ve already made sure to clean and condition the leather, which I am pretty sure is only genuine/bonded, and not full or top grain.
**What I’m really looking for is recommendations or tips about this type of project that I may not have thought of.** Any tips, resourceful videos or guides, or suggestions are greatly appreciated.
One question I know I’ll need answered is about the smell. These came from a smoker’s home, and after a day and a half still faintly smell of smoke. Is that something that will go away on its own, something I’ll become nose-blind to, or something I can actually fix?
Hello, dear community :) I need to see some creative visions of how i can flip this piece!
Yesterday at night i found this table with very massive legs (which i unscrewed already), but now i kind of stuck with what can be done with it.
I dont really like the color, so i am looking forward to sanding it and maybe stain a different color, but then i dont really see what kind of legs should go with it.
Thank you for your attention and have a nice day :)
Hello! This is my first time doing a furniture flip, so please be kind and please help me figure out how to make my stain more even! I started the whole process by using a varnish remover and then sanding with 80 -> 120 -> 220 grit. I applied layer of the conditioner (pictured above) as instructed on the canister. After letting it dry for 30 minutes, I began to apply the stain (pictured above) with the pictured brushes. I applied it to the entirety of the top of this dresser using a heavy hand and then let it sit for 5 minutes before wiping off. The problem was that the excess dried quickly on one end as I worked on the opposite side. I then tried applying a thin layer and in smaller sections the next day to maybe offset this issue, still streaky and still dried before I could wipe it off. I then saw a few videos of people using a stain pad or foam brush (which I am going to purchase next). The 3rd layer I tried flooding it and wiping the excess off but again ran into the issue of one side drying before I could finish wiping it. I feel so silly and frustrated and would really appreciate any advice. I really don’t want to sand it down again but feel like that would be the next step. I just don’t want to sand it down to run into the same issue again. All the other pieces have received only one stain layer. Help!
