Volk got straight up robbed in that first fight with Islam Makhachev and I’m tired of everyone pretending it was some clear win. Like did we even watch the same fight or are people just hypnotized by the whole dagestani wrestling aura thing. Volk was landing cleaner shots the whole time and actually doing damage while Islam was just holding on for dear life half the fight and calling it “control”

And don’t even get me started on the weight bully stuff. Islam walks around huge for that division cuts a ridiculous amount of weight and then people act shocked when he can just lay on smaller guys. Volk came up from featherweight to fight him and STILL looked like the better fighter most of the time which says everything. If anything Islam should be the one moving up but he knows he loses that size advantage instantly

Also look at Islams resume it’s literally a bunch of strikers with mid wrestling and people act like he’s this unbeatable monster. Yeah no kidding you look dominant when nobody can stop a basic chain wrestle. The moment someone like Volk who actually has good balance and fight IQ shows up suddenly it’s a “close fight” that somehow magically goes to Islam

Volk won that fight and the only reason people say otherwise is because they see a guy hugging legs and assume that means he’s winning. If damage actually mattered Volk takes it easy but I guess we’re just scoring fights based on who can stall better now
