r/FidiumFiber

Fidium fiber now included in rent. TV's and sons console will not connect to it.

Seems like only my phone, computer, and his phone will connect to the fidium adtran router. His digital series x can't. My q80c Samsung won't. Nor will my run of the mill vizio connect to it.

Is it probably because it's only broadcasting 5ghz? I can't even use the fidium app or even sign into the website because it just got installed and activated in my apartment complex, I didn't sign up or anything anywhere. Thankfully I still have optimum going but I would like to drop that.

Edit: also suspecting it's because of the wpa3 security

Anybody have a contact number for stateside technical support?

The 900 second lease times for WAN IP are absolutely killing my router. I have a .4% failure rate on WAN side DHCP lease renewals. Not a huge deal until you're being asked to renew the lease 1200 times a week. That equates to 4-5 failures a week. So my WAN connection goes dark 4-5 times a week. I've requested that Fidium increase my DHCP lease time, but they will not do it. The only option I have then is to get a static IP. I requested one, and they say they will only give out static IP's to customers who are using Fidium's router. I am using my own router (BYOD) and do not want an ISP provided device. Unfortunately, even after talking to their "Elevated Tech Support" group, which is still offshore, I can't seem to get anybody on the phone who can understand the difference between DHCP and a static IP. At this point, I've spent over 2 hours on the phone in a continuous loop w/ people that don't know anything about networking. Does anybody have a cheat code for me? I desperately need to talk to somebody at Fidium that can help me.

Western PA service outage today (5:59am until 7:40am)

I can tell from firewall logs that I never lost my local connection TO Fidium.

That said, I had a 100 minute service outage. It could have been dns-related. I didn't verify.

WHAT IS GOING ON FIDIUM? I'm not keeping track (yet), but there have been a lot of outages lately. You are becoming very hard to love. Just being honest.

Wolfeboro NH Residential Install

Hi, folks! New here to the forum. I had FiOS, then Fairpoint/Consolidated in SNH from 2005-2019 before I moved out of state. I am now in Wolfeboro, NH where the local cable co was very unreliable and had awful upload speeds (even by DOCSIS standards!).

I switched to T-Mobile since the 5G tower is very close to my house. I was getting very good (300-500 Mbps down/100-150 Mbps up) speeds until recently when T-Mobile made a cash grab for higher speed accounts and really capped my speeds (about 100-200/50 now) which isn't great considering I use the Internet for work.

I see Fidium is rolling out in our area - amazing given the low population density here. I'd like to get the 2Gbps symmetrical plan but I have some installation/building concerns that the helpful but limited call center folk can't really deal with. Does anyone know how close Fidium is to offering residential installation (the fiber is already on the poles here in the neighborhood) and if there's a local installer I could contact about fiber wire length concerns for an electrical move I'm making later this year?

Thank you all in advance and glad to be on this reddit group!

Maintenance in Mid-Coast Maine?

We've had a couple of relatively brief outages starting at around midnight (it's 00:50 as I write this). Just wondering how extensive it is (or, hopefully, was). First outage started at exactly midnight and lasted about 22 minutes. The second at 00:46 and lasted a little over 2 minutes. Topsham/Brunswick/Durham area ...

EDIT: It wasn't a DNS issue. We definitely lost our connection; the fiber light on the ONT went red. I restarted the ONT and rebooted my firewall (even though everything looked fine). When it came back up it was unable to acquire an IP address. The ONT went green and the connectivity was restored a few minutes later, though.
