Stoic, measured, robotic, are all words you can use to describe Amadeus. He hails from a Chapter that carries almost as many secrets as the Dark Angels, The Mentors Legion. Who have and test secret advanced weapons for the Imperium. Like most of Astartes he was taken as a child, indoctrinated, reborn and remade to become a perfect soldier. Being conditioned and forbidden from even thinking or speaking about their past lives. He was given a task to cross the Great Rift and meet the Adeptus Vaelarii (The Emperors Spears and Celestial Lions) but unknown to him there are other agendas attached to his mission. He grows from a calculating machine of a Marine, to a man who begins to question. I’ve read a lot of 40K books, and I’d have to say Spears of the Emperor might just be my favorite.

So to learn the rest of Amadeus‘s story read “Spears of the Emperor” by Aaron Dembski Bowden.

Arguably the most captivating protagonist I’ve ever read in a 40k book, Anuradha personifies the grimdark reality of every day living in 40k, how normal humans are stuck between the giant footsteps of ether augmented or warp related gods. Born a life bound thrall/helot to the Mantors Chapter, those titles just meaning slave/servant. She was born to endure hardship for the betterment of her Astartes oversears. The chapter did give opportunity to those serfs who showed aptitude in certain criteria or were gifted. She worked her way up through their caste system, working alongside various Marines of the chapter until eventually becoming Helot Secundus(Combat Serf) for Lieutenant Commander Amadeus. She was gifted many body augmentations, but the most significant one was her bionic eye, which enhanced all aspects of her mind and was also a secret weapon.

She was brought along with Amadeus on their voyage across the rift to rendezvous with the Adeptus Vaelarii(Emperors Spears and Celestial Lions). How will her time in Elara‘s Veil and the storm world change her…

To find out about Anuradha‘s story, read “Spears of the Emperor” by Aaron Dembski Bowden.

Feedback of any kind welcome, especially on better basing and getting the white helmets as crispy as possible

Only the basecoats are down. Shades, highlights, and basing will come later. I wanted to get colors on for some games while building the last models.

  1. My third mini. First unique/special unit and my first kitbash. I used the GW techmarine model as the base and added resin apothecary parts and used a Deathwatch helmet. Slicing the pistol hand off and reattaching it to the narthecium arm was kinda terrifying. It's a bit crowded and there's a lot going on, but I'm really happy with how this one turned out.

Emperor's Spears Tech Druid with grav pistol, omnissian axe, forge bolter, servo arm, and mechadendrite along with a narthecium gauntlet and injector servo arm.

I wanted to have him actually look like a techmarine and apothecary rather than just one or the other. I also painted the tech skull sigil on the chest in the style of Bellona, although I omitted the weeping blood. Just didn't think I could do a detail that small and have it look good.

Since he already had a full backpack, I attached the injector to the mechadendrite. I imagine it relatively out of the way right now, but can shift forward to be used when needed. Also added an extra pouch and canopic jars to his right leg.

Great-Just glad everything fit.

Not so great-The white parts are noticeably sloppier than the rest. Not sure if the weather changing affected the paint or what, but it was pretty bad. Going to get a can of white primer before I have to paint large pieces or sections white again.

Things to work on-Paying attention and calmly thinking things through. I plastic glued the servo arm the wrong way, so it was facing backwards and I couldn't rotate it to be under correctly because of the connector triangle. So I cut it off and above the joint and faced it the right way (which is why its above the pistol arm instead of below it) before gluing it back together. Only then did I realize I could have just cut the connector triangle off and simply spun it to be in the correct place.

So that's my first kitbash done! Any constructive criticism or critiques welcome. No idea what my next one will be other than simpler. This one was fun and interesting, but it was stressful. Also want to improve my painting and try some new techniques.

Noob question about pelts

For building Emperor's Spears can't you just buy some space wolves models with pelts and simply change their heads (for the helmetless ones) if they are "too viking" or something?

These will need some touch ups before shading happens. Next up is finishing the Sternguard for the Druid (Librarian).
