First Raven Guard mini! Second mini ever!
Second mini. First time not following the instructions precisely. Actually used pieces from 2 different guys in the same box plus a couple pieces from the chapter upgrade pack.Wanted to post with my painting thoughts and experiences. Can already tell I'm faster cause this one took so much less time than the first.
First mini:

Deathwatch jump pack intercessor from Raven Guard's 10th company with bolt pistol and power blade. Had to make sure he had a beaky helmet and gave him the power sword since a stealthy scout guy like him wouldn't use a loud chainsword.
Great-All of the tiny details. Actually painted and attached little trinkets for the first time. Also proud of how it looks like they're flapping in the wind.
Things to work on-Tried to do/follow 3 different "Super EZ Beginner Power Sword Paint Jobs!" and all of them came out bad. So now it looks like he's using a $30 camo painted mall machete and I both hate and like it.
Other thoughts-Focused less on the highlighting and layering like last time and more on the tiny details this time.
Only the jump pack was assembled before painting. Everything else was painted separately. It made painting pretty easy but also made gluing everything, especially the tiny trinkets, a total nightmare. Will probably want it a bit more assembled from now on, especially the difficult things that would hold better with plastic glue.
The dynamic pose meant I had to cover the whole helmet and prime the neck at the very end cause you could see plastic gray from him looking up rather than forward.
Part of the issue with the sword is the small number of paints I have right now. It feels like every other video will require half a dozen colors I don't have yet.
Also, iron hands steel painted sword covered with tesseract glow makes an interesting snot sword that would probably look great on a plague marine.
Didn't actually realize chapters often had specific unique chapter pauldrons that designated things like what company you're in. Only realized when I looked up the Raven Guard to make sure I did it accurately. Thought the 10th company red trim is a nice extra bit of color.
So that's my second done! Any constructive criticism or critiques welcome. Excited to start the next one. It's my first specialty unit from a non first founding legion/chapter! No idea if it would actually be legal to play, but it's lore accurate and that's all I care about! Also it will be my first time using resin and unofficial pieces.
(No, but seriously, the tiny bits were ridiculous, especially the purity seal, box trinket, and the skull/feather. Even now they look like they'll fall off if I stare at them too hard. How do people put them on so easily?)
P.S.-Do you prefer to use company/squad specific chapter pauldrons when or do you like all of your space marines to have their chapter's standard pauldron?
