Mod recommendations for a noobie?
I apologise if this is a common question in the community. I couldn't see any recommendations thread / sticky about it.
I recently played through MyHouse.wad and had an absolutely fantastic time with it and it really opened my eyes to what is possible with such an old game series.
I've watched some YT videos about Doom mods but I prefer to hear suggestions from real people plus I have a specific caveat that I'd like to make.
I would like to know the best/most suggested mods but from WORST to best. Essentially I'd like to save the best for last as to avoid other mods seeming worse by comparison if I play the best ones first. I know this is probably a highly subjective opinion based question but regardless I'd appreciate the communities input and recommendations all the same.
New showcase for my mod: As always, thoughts?
I'll post the twitter down here if anyone cares, but if you search for the mod name on it, its pretty easy to find!

I made the mod, drew the sprites (but not the bunnies)
This room was a pain to make, took me 2 days, also yes i added Skulltag weapons to make it easier for the player cuz the map will be that hard
Hello folks! i'm working on a mod for the classic Doom that adds Ultrakill weapons (And soon, mechanics) into it. i'd like your guys feedback on it.
What is it even
does the doomworld community just like playing the same old thing?... ive noticed anyone that does something new and outthere doesn't get much but "you should do this instead, but nice in the effort" ...saw that on a tc that's never been done before...my house.wad was top, the dudes behind it had a good laugh until ones ex wife doxxed the actual house... the approach should be the love of the hobby, but I'd think I'd be a soul sucking kinda hurt to work for yr or yrs on a silly mod then get next to no feedback, guess im just ranting on its weird what works, hollyweird.
Strike Vector D, development news
Version 9 is out. New in this update:
two more pirate fighters;
one linear map and one endless map that are actually opposite sides of a single location;
grappling chain combined with shotgun as a new secret weapon;
custom HUD.
Another news is that the mod has been relocated to GameBanana: https://gamebanana.com/wips/100450 . Further updates are planned to be uploaded there instead of ModDB.
The portal only teleports the player if he's moving. I couldn't find a way to fix this issue so i used it for something funny: i replicated the live Hakita reaction thing but with yours truly.
Special thanks to u/YCLUBSTEP58 for having unknowingly helped me with this
Added Terminals + the final part of the first half of the level
Sorry no God statue i couldn't find any statue that big on Realm667 or anywhere for that matter and I'm not gonna spend time and game performance drawing multiple sectors to recreate it so I replaced it with a small parkour to the Grenade Launcher instead
Anyways now I can finally move on to the outside part which is the one I'm most excited for
Idk how tf im gonna do the "fall downwards into the elevator shaft then upwards out of the elevator shaft" effect but oh well I'll figure it out
Help with getting LitDoom working
I just downloaded GZDoom and the Doom 2 WAD. I downloaded the LitDoom 0.5 and the 0.95 with the Knee Deep in the Dark map pack (pk3 file).
Doom 2 vanilla works perfectly fine, but that’s about it. Both versions of LitDoom won’t let me fire or reload, and the later version with the nicer menu flat out doesn’t allow me to do anything at all upon picking up a weapon. I get an error message in the top right corner about an infinite weapon loop or something, but it disappears before I can finish reading. Trying to load the Knee Deep in the Dark map pack just gives me an execution error.
I am trying to play on a controller and am completely new to Doom mods. I didn’t think it would be this difficult. What am I doing wrong?
Ethereal Breakdown began as a community modding event to celebrate 25 years of Doom 64 (1997-2022) for the official Doom 64 Remaster and Doom 64 EX+. Fight through 33 levels with custom graphics and music from some of the biggest names in Doom 64 modding. It has been updated today with many fixes, enhancements, and a brand new map too (Astral Viscera)!
Although we have done some playtesting, we could use some more, especially on the latest Doom 64 EX+.

Howdy,
I am working on a project, it's been quite some time, and I have played some WADs in my lifetime, but, I was never a fan of MIDIs. Sometimes, they are good, sometimes, they just grind my gears. Still, I would rather have a normal, non-MIDI soundtrack.
I have a bunch of a favorite games with some excellent soundtracks (namely Command & Conquer, Worms Armageddon), but I obviously don't own any of them and I don't have any rights to use them.
Would it be possible to simply get my thing (when it's finished) uploaded to idgames or wherever you release WADs with the music that I want? Or will it get rejected flat out and I'll get into some murky waters?
Because I thought about it and I don't want any legal trouble, it's obviously not for profit, but still, it's someone elses property that I want to use.
I could ask the original composers for a permission, but, somehow I doubt that they will reply positively, or at all. And I think the music really adds to the atmosphere.
Also, another question, if it's a game soundtrack, and I edit it and rearrange it (not a remix/reimagination, no changing the melody, I'm not a musician or a DJ), does that constitute a remix and is that then fine to use? Under fair use or something?
Anyway, thank you for replying.
Multiple Pistol only mods
Is there a mod where you can only use pistols but there is a variety of pistols and different modes for those pistols?
What it says on the tin ig. I love the katana cowboy trope but I can't find any mods for which is Uber weird. Does anyone have some suggestions?
