Kinda just what the header says. I’ve been a fan of NIS’ stuff for some time and I do just wish maybe for the next game they’d opt for a female protagonist to lead. Surprised they hadn’t thought to do so yet considering that their female characters tend to be their more popular ones. It’d would be cool.

And before people bring up fem laharl…

I played Disgaea 1 and 2 (PSP version) a lot when I was younger, but never got around to the later games.

After about 10 years, I’m finally getting back into the series with Disgaea 3.

So like I’m new to this fandom and I’ve been watching videos of disgaea and I am now on disgaea 4 so I’ve learned about a few characters or more than that and some of my favorite characters. Etna

That’s basically just a name a few characters that I like again I haven’t finished disgaea 4 yet so I’m still learning about a few characters though I do hope I get the game one day but anyways, I wanna know what are y’all‘s favorite characters and you could tell me why you like them or you can tell me what got you in the game. I’m just curious.

To explain what exactly is the reference here.

There was a Disgaea 1 anime adaptation released on 2006. The opinion of this anime adaptation is... Not that good, from what I heard about. The story took a lot of creative liberties that lean more towards comedy and random "Event of the week" plotlines. (Not helped how its a really short series. Only 12 episodes. Not a lot of time to actually show the main story when there are no random shenanigans.) What is also odd is that there was also a trailer that looked completely different, and the original early version of this adaptation was supposed to be a lot more faithful to the games.

Anyways, one of the random one off plotlines of the Disgaea 1 anime adaptation is this story about a mysterious girl with purple hair called Maharl who is always carrying with her a odd-looking green doll. This girl is supposedly the sister of Laharl. (This story existed way before Sicily even existed.). ...And then its revealed that Maharl is not connected to the Krichevskoy family and all of that was just a false story. And then its revealed that the girl with purple hair was just a decoy, and that the actual Maharl was the odd green doll! I guess I can mention that the design of the decoy humanoid Maharl was originally supposed to be a character design for the original Disgaea 1, that was never used on the actual game and was used for the odd anime adaptation. (I think the odd doll was also on the original design too, however. I am not sure if that twist of "The doll is the actual person while the humanoid is just a decoy" was a idea that even existed on the original version of her character, or if it was a idea original to the anime adaptation.)

I thought that there was no reference to this odd anime adaptation because of how it looks like it was not that good, so it was kinda funny how one of the items on Prinny 2 is a purple doll that looks very similar to Maharl's doll form.
