Someone should be arrested

After the city is put under lock down, during a cut scene, this civilian was outside just walking around. It was sort of weird. They walked to that point, paused for a few seconds, and then continued on. I thought it was going to be some sort of story point.

I ran out after the cut scene ended to find them but they were no where to be found. I loaded a save but it didn't happen the second time.

Adam Jensen’s Apartment - spring cleaning

The moment i reached Adam’s apartment, I immediately moved all of the clutter. Why are there always so many random boxes in this game?

I played GMDX AE and I didn't like it that much

Granted, it is mostly my fault, because I decided to both play it with untrained hacking and with limited saving. And with the alternative start enabled, so no early game freebies.

But I still left with this vague impression that everyting became scarcer, more limited and less effective.

Which for me kind of resulted in less fun overall.

LAMs are fun, right? Can only carry two now.
Stuffing my pockets full of grenades after disarming a booby trapped dungeon was fun. Gone too, all grenades are permanently stuck to walls forever.
Dragon Tooth Sword was cool. Not anymore, it now requires bioelectric energy for a swing.
Healing bots and charging bots only heal a limited amount. Probably adds to balance, but I also feel less happy about finding one.
And I remember picking a lot of pistol ammo early in the game, but as soon as I started actually using it, I ran out very quickly. Heavily capped ammo? Reduced drops?

Rarely I had more than one lockpick, or more than two multitools. Exposives were super scarce. And it just... never got better.

I spent most of my time in situations where the main path is locked, and I don't have anything to open it.
And there are cameras everywhere, and I don't have anything to disable or break them.
And there are enemies and bots out there that I don't have nearly enough ammo for.
And also my augs are useless because I have no electric charge left.

Now, I don't think there is something wrong with the mod specifically, or that my experience is representative even. The folks behind the mod clearly have a direction in mind that they want to pursue. But you know... there's joy in abundance. Sometimes there is.

I remember having a lot of fun with v9/v10 back in the day. So I am wondering what changed since. I probably need to go back and figure out what was different.

Why does Darrow talk about the University of Prague like some beacon of technology?

Occasionally, when you're walking through some streets, you'll hear about Hugh Darrow's trip to the university of Prague.

I admit, a university's a nice place but it's not something that decides government policies or even makes much money where I come from so I found it odd that this tech giant speaks of it like some miracle granting place. Did I miss something within the game's lore regarding it?

Who needs Icarus?

I always fail to invest in the Icarus landing system at this point in the game and miss this loot. Not this time.

Is it worth it?

Is it worth getting the mobile app game Deus Ex GO?.

I've heard that you can earn praxis kits for Deus Ex mankind divided?.

Can you? And is it actually worth it? As the mobile game is just under £5.

How would you go about a sequel to the original deus ex and dealing with its multiple endings? [and lets pretend invisible war doesn't exist here]

I think what i'd love, which probably has no chance of working due to how the endings are all vastly different, would to do things like mass effect did where it read the save from the previous mass effect games and changed things in the next game [rather than sorta combining all endings] depending on your choices. Now how would that work with deus ex's endings? I've no idea lmao. I think it'd be interesting if it chose what class your character and many npcs are and the augmentations you get if you chose a certain endings, like for example if you chose the machine god ending perhaps it gives you certain powerful augs you wouldnt get otherwise. and at the very least it changes the first mission and opening cutscene. maybe if you chose tong's ending, you wouldn't be able to use any augmentations unless you did some sidequest or something. also perhaps the story or enviroments in the game would be slightly different depending on what you chose. and maybe if you joined the illuminati you'd have valuable insight and connections you wouldnt have otherwise. this would all probably be a idea that wouldnt work well and wouldnt be satisfying with how varied the endings are, but i'd love to know how you think a true sequel to the original could work. I've been thinking about how multiple endings like this could work when it comes to my own project tbh.

Bosses of the game beating them non-lethal

When it comes to bosses they must die but you can rationalize the two out of three as 'Adam' killing them not you. It was 'Adam' who stabbed Barrett to death so you can say it was the cutscenes which did it therefore it doesn't count as your kill. Also for Namir you can say the punch by 'Adam' in the cutscene is what killed him so that is not your kill also. Fedorova is where there is no excuse it doesn't matter wether you use lethal or non-lethal because when the cutscene plays after her health reaches 0 she bleeds to death. However there is one way to defeat her without you being responsible for health going to 0. The only way to do that is you can attack her as much as you want with any weapon but she must electrocute herself to 0 hp. The game doesn't count you killing Fedorova as non-lethal but you know better. Don't lie to yourself and make sure Fedorova is responsible for her own demise for a legitimate non-lethal run.

am i right in thinking the first keypad door in the final area doesnt have a code to be found?

specifically the keypad door in the back of the gray radiation room in sector 4 of area 51. as far as i can tell it can only be opened by hacking or bypassing, because neither the keypad nor terminal seem to have corresponding notes.

its just frustrating me bc i try to only bypass or hack as a last resort if i cant find the password, and this door seems to be mandatory, so if you (somehow) dont have the hacking ability or have enough multitools, the game becomes funtionally unfinishable

"Disc Wars" from Tron Legacy is one of the best original end game Deus Ex tracks!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nRZLV_LcZ-E

OK, so it's not actually from the original Deus Ex at all. But take a minute, close your eyes and have a close listen.

You're in late game Deus Ex, getting closer and closer to unraveling the conspiracy. Big drums and driving strings as you navigate big installations, climbing ladders, overcoming obstacles, sneaking around.

You've got these great atmospheric synths that feel like something out of Liberty Island or Vandenberg. Glitchy drums that take you back to those rough samples from the late 90s/early 00s in video games.

And then those arpeggios that feel like they're straight out of the Deus Ex menu music. A cool, detached, disconnected, professional even keel, like you expect from a JC Denton with nerves of steel.

About the only thing missing is any of the actual Deus Ex themes.

There's no new Deus Ex on the horizon, but maybe this great track from another universe gives you a little new experience in the Deus Ex universe. :)

Just Completed the PS2 Port

Sup all.

Going through PS2 games that I never played, I saw that Deux Ex had a port that I didn't know about. Decided to load it up on my Steam Deck and give it a shot. Being a big fan of the first game, I knew what I was getting into, though I didn't know about how different it was on the PS2.

I played it all the way through, exploring nearly everything I could find (missed Ford Schick, which I was bummed about, wanted to see the MJ12 sewer system under Hell's Kitchen). Then I got to my preferred ending to merge with Helios.

First of all, I am quite surprised that the UI was pretty damn seamless and snappy. Really liked the right side / left side kinda system they had going on with augs and inventory. the model updates on the characters seem okay, with a few added animations (crouch firing and dropping carried bodies). Anna's model seems the most off-putting as she's meant to have one eye, the other being cybernetics.

The maps themselves were confusing at first, as there's fences or walls where normally it'd be open on the PC version. So the large maps were subdivided into their own load zones with S-shaped pathways being something I saw constantly. Also, I found the Free Clinic in Hell's Kitchen on my 3rd visit... it was in a location that's normally got nothing going for it on PC.

Overall, I'd be content playing the PS2 version again if I wanted to give DX another go. To me, I'd call them interchangeable. I didn't see any content loss, it was more reorganized to fit the PS2.

Just wanted to post this here and say I was pleasantly surprised with it, and would 10/10 play it again on PS2.
