I have entered the decorating spiral of doom

I have entered the decorating spiral of doom

I hate decorating. I am having terrible terrible anxiety. As this stresses, my a d h d brain out.

I do realize I need to update periodically, but I am a science person and not a person who can decorate.. please take pity on me and help..

i had a different color scheme in this room and decided to repaint. the AI suggested putting in a navy wall with navy curtains, which I have done.

Now I hate it.

Do I need to repaint the wall to a different color? obviously the artwork is now not working in this room. I bought an area rug and tried turning it sideways to show more blue. I could turn it the other way and place it under the bed.

What can I do to fix it ? or go scorched earth and start from the beginning?

I live in a very old house. Modern things do not work well.

I have ordered a new lamp with a larger base in white tones for side table.

If you have any suggestions, could you please put a link to what you suggest?

The furniture is all oak family multigenerational stuff.

Not pictured on the other side of the room is a large gentlemens dresser with a mirror.

What to add above the bed?

I'm pretty happy with the room in general and I don't want to change anything that's already there but I keep thinking I need something above the bed to fill that blank space. Any ideas? Something like a tapestry maybe? If you could link to something you have in mind with any suggestions that'd be great.

I just moved into this room - east facing full length windows and an unobstructed view of the forest and mountains - it absolutely elevates the room and makes it feel like an expansive balcony!

Please help me design this room so that it fits all my stuff and continues to feel spacious and calming. There is a building on the upper left corner (refer sketch), but rest of the view is unobstructed.

Looking forward to best layout ideas and colour palette suggestions

P.S. I am renting this place

How can I elevate this space? Not a fan of the walnut colour, as the rest of our house has lighter wood. Should I sand it? Paint it? Take the built ins out and keep the floating shelves? Any suggestions appreciated, as I think it looks so flat and hotel like

EDIT: this pic is from when we just moved in, still haven't styled yet.

My husband and I are renting a mobile home and we’re looking for suggestions for how to cover this wall of mirrors. Our first thought was to put our wall of book cases in front of them, but the white scalloped edge on top sticks out from the wall about 3 inches, and it’s pretty flimsy. We’re worried that the weight of the bookcases leaning up against it may be too much. Plus there would be a gap behind them making them not very sturdy. My other thought was removable wall paper, but I would like to hear other suggestions if you have any. Thanks in advance!

Looking for ideas!

Do any of these work? Which is better? I am intending to also change the elements to light oat color instead of white, but haven't been able to integrate it here.

Any ideas welcome!

What can I add to this kitchen?

Hey, I move in a week and I’m not sure what to do to this kitchen to make it look better. The gaps on the sides of the stove keep catching my eye and I’d like to change it up somehow. Is there anything I can put there that’s not a safety/fire hazard???

Hi! I'm looking to buy a large area rug for my living room (I'd like it to be around 8 x 11 feet).

I have a cat and she loves to scratch rugs so ideally something that will be good quality, not shed too much.

I'm looking for something affordable if possible:)

Thanks in advance !

I tried a warm rustic tablescape concept for an event, honestly really happy with how it turned out

I wanted to share a tablescape setup I recently worked on for a small event. The goal was to create something warm, relaxed, and elegant without making it feel overly formal or staged. I leaned into natural wood tones, soft florals, neutral plates, candles, and embroidered napkins to keep everything feeling cozy and personal. One thing I focused on was keeping the centerpiece height low enough so people could still comfortably talk across the table while still making the setup feel full and intentional. I also tried not to overmatch everything. I wanted the table to feel lived-in and welcoming rather than perfectly showroom-styled. The rustic wood texture honestly carried a lot of the atmosphere on its own, so keeping the decor softer helped balance it out. What surprised me most is how much the smaller details like napkin placement, spacing, and candle positioning changed the overall feel once everything came together. Still learning a lot about event styling and tablescaping, but this is one of the setups I’ve felt genuinely proud of so far.

Window coverings or none?

Florida home with a screened lanai and a 6 foot privacy fence. What should I put over these sliding doors? Leave them as they are with nothing, or put up some white sheers on rods? Or?

Please be gentle with me, I admittedly have zero skills with decorating. The brown sectional is the before. It served its purpose, but we didn’t love how it was hard to face each other to talk. We are four people plus a dog in a 1200 ft.² bungalow. We have to make the living room work for multiple purposes like watching movies, but also being able to talk, visit with guests, and play board games, etc.

The subsequent photos are of our new “oatmeal” couch and “rosewood” chairs that took us over a year to decide on. We custom ordered from Pottery Barn so I don’t think we can return. We absolutely love the chairs because they are cool and comfortable and allow us to turn easily to watch TV or to talk.

BUT I have serious couch regret. It seems too tall, and too stiff (both in how it looks and how it feels). I just feel like the couch is so wrong. Is there a way to make this work? We’re waiting to see how we can set this up and then the next step is getting neutral curtains as well as side tables.

And yes, I know, the green on the walls is very special. But my partner absolutely loves it and I love him, so this is what we’re working with.

Would really appreciate your help!

Home office decorating help needed

New into the house and this is my wife’s home office (full time work from home). She has tons of unused space. Her work is nearly all online so not really a need for file cabinet and we are pretty minimalistic.

Thinking some mid-century lounge chairs, nice muted carpet, some cable management.’c shelves with some plants to add greenery. Any other ideas?

Full name of the furniture/ sofa - couch

Hello, I’m trying to find the name of this furniture. One side has an arm and a back, while the other side doesn’t. (Left or ride doesn’t mater ) It’s black leather, and I can’t find it online or figure out where to buy it. Is there a specific name for it? When I search different names, it still doesn’t show the exact one.

Color help

I posted my home a few weeks ago about a new roof color and got that done today. The left picture is the current color of my home, right picture is Chat used of gray I am thinking about painting. The left original color or the right gray color preferred?

If I do the gray, right picture, I’ll probably make that darker gray trim half that darkness so it’s closer to the light gray.
