Running a tiny record label out of my cellar, been designing some DIY merch from scrap denim and cardboard!

Hi all,
Just thought I'd share the first few items of merch I have made for my record label Char Records. I've got a very DIY mindset for the label, all the music is made direct to cassette tapes on a Tascam 07 Portastudio and I wanted my merch to represent that!

The first item I made was a tape for "Two Drones From The Cellar" by Archoill, an ambient project. I hand dub the cassettes in The Cellar (my recording studio!) and use recycled toilet paper tubes for the packaging as they fit perfectly. I love the look of these and have had such lovely reception from people who have purchased them.

The second item is a very simple patch made from recycled jeans which I wrote "The Cellar" on (can you guess why?!). I love these, I have one on my denim jacket and they just fit perfectly. Very very proud of them.

Just thought I'd share them cause you guys seem to love the left-of-the-middle style of music and merchandise. If anyone wants to check it out my bandcamp is here.

I'd love to see any other homemade merch other people have made as well, it's the kinda items I love buying from people!

Hope you all have a lovely day! :))

I’m building an app for private house shows / DIY music gigs. Would you ever use something like this?

Hey everyone, I’m working on an idea for an app and I’d love honest feedback from people who go to or organize small live music events.

The concept is simple: it would help people organize and discover small, private music shows in homes, apartments, practice rooms, or other non-traditional spaces. Think intimate DIY gigs, invite-only shows, underground local music nights, that kind of thing.

The app would likely use social sign-in, let organizers approve guests before revealing the address, and show nearby shows based on location and music taste.

I’m still in the early research phase, so I’m not trying to sell anything — I’d just really value honest opinions.

A few things I’m trying to solve:

  • Organizers want more control over who gets in.
  • Guests want to discover local shows without random strangers showing up.
  • Both sides need a simple way to share event info privately.
  • For paid events, I want to make the process cleaner and less awkward.

A few questions:

  • Would you ever use something like this?
  • If you organize or attend DIY shows, what is the biggest pain point?
  • What would make you trust an app like this?
  • What would make you not use it?
  • Are there existing tools you already use instead?

If you’ve ever organized a house show, secret gig, or small private concert, I’d especially love to hear from you.

Thanks a lot.

This is the lead (and only) single from my bands upcoming EP ‘Visual Snow’!!! it’s a pop punk / emo type things completely DIY recorded and produced alone in my bedroom. For fans of Jeff Rosenstock / BTMI!, Prince Daddy & the Hyena, Remo Drive, etc. Linked is the music video which I also made completely DIY, though the song is available on all streaming platforms!

To Stay Awake - Playground

I made this track inspired by those nights when friends would come over and stay way past midnight, when everything got quieter but never fully still.

It’s built around layered drones and a faint, persistent rhythm, trying to capture that strange feeling of time stretching out in the dark.

Parhelia - ARVI | DIY is super fun concept

Making your own music from scratch is real eye opener! You have to learn many skills to make full song, i've been one few bands but there is something on doing things on your own... Give my song a try maybe you like it, I am open for feedback and ready to give you some too if you want to. Thank you for listening !
