How common is this?

I interviewed 5 weeks ago for a congressional internship. I was told I would hear back within 2-3. 3 weeks went by, emailed and heard no response. Another week went by, I called and was told I would hear within another week or so. That was a week and a half ago...

Girl living in house with guys- safe?

I’m about to sign a lease on a room, 20 min walking distance from my internship, but two of my roommates will be men, has anyone experienced this?

Writing samples

I’m applying for a press internship with a Senator and they want 3 writing samples. From other people’s experience, what types of writing examples look the best on an application?

Eff it we ball

So I'm kind of late to all of this intern stuff, but I think that working in D.C. would be really cool. I found about all of this last Friday. So I looked up my local rep. and submitted an application for his D.C. legislative internship just to call his office a day later to find out that there weren't any spots left. I wasn't going to take that for an answer, however. I called around and eventually got in contact with the man, a member of his staff that deals with internships, who told me that I was a good candidate for a campaign-side internship. Again, though, I'm not really interested in doing something that I didn't originally want to do for zero pay.

So I did some digging and found an event my rep will be at this Saturday at a Golden Corral, no less. I've made business cards and did a deep dive into his interests, policy, past interns, and personality. I plan on walking up to this dude and just spitting game. If I pull this off, it would be legendary dad lore. Wish me luck.

It’s been weeks

So it’s been weeks now (2+ week) since application deadlines and since I’ve submitted my applications. Is it fair to say I should give up ? I just haven’t heard anything no rejection no answer to follow up.

What would you recommend in that case?

Summer housing needed!

Hi, I am interning on the Hill this summer from June 29th - August 7th. I am looking for a place for these dates and I am fully open to moving in and/or moving out a bit after my internship ends since I know how leases can be. I am mainly looking for a one bedroom/studio or private bedroom in or around the Capitol Hill/Capitol South, NoMa, Union Station area, or even Foggy Bottom area. Also, hoping to get something that is somewhat on the furnished side.

As I mentioned, I am open to the possibility of a private room in these areas that have roommates attached (preferably guys 21+ rangeish). I am a 23 year old graduate student at Penn State. I am pretty extroverted and love to go out and explore new areas. I like going out and meeting new people. Also, big eagles fan. I am somewhat new to the DC area and the Hill since I have never interned there before, however I have visited several times.

Budget is about $2,000/month or less.

Thank you!
