Update: phew. This was a brutal reality check in my first post here. Turns out my cherished bow sucks and I have to get a better one. I have 5 Lair Boss keys if someone would be willing to take them to high Torment and try to get a better one for me?

I understand that there are ways that I can screw my item up (based on some heartbreaking posts here). I have an Eaglehorn that I’ve been farming for. It’s not even that great of a roll but it’s mine so I cherish it. I added sockets and started to add mastery (level 11 already).
I’ve heard about tempering, and enchanting, and rerolling afixes, and Codex of Power and it is all terrifying. Can someone recommend to me what else can I safely do to improve my item without messing it up?
I also have other questions about general order of crafting and what steps to follow - someone posted an item they like that they didn’t add sockets to? I thought you can always add sockets - are there things that lock the item at any time without ability to do anything more to it?
Every season this discussion somehow returns:
No. You are being lied to and deceived.
Rogue is the closest thing Diablo 4 has to a controlled physics violation. Half the class design reads like the developers accidentally left debug movement enabled and decided to ship it.
Other classes:
Rogue:
People confuse "high burst movement" with actual end-to-end speedrunning efficiency. Rogue doesn't just move fast, no my friends, it maintains velocity through combat, routing, objective handling, tactical backtracking, and elite deletion without losing tempo.
That's the difference.
If a build clears a hallway instantly but has to stop every 4 seconds to roleplay resource management, that's not speed. That's interval training.
Meanwhile actual Rogue gameplay looks like:
I finally got tired of the discourse and recorded a full run pushing the current speed benchmark because apparently "trust me bro" wasn’t enough evidence anymore.
Turns out Artifice Shadow Step is the second coming of RNGesus …it just IS fast.
Shocking development for the Diablo 4 community, I know, lol.
I've got a 15 seconds Seer's Reach run and guide details below if you wanna-be Shadow Steppers want to see what actual speed looks like.

I am playing Freeze Penetrating Shot build. I found these two but cannot figure out what is more important. One rolled with greater affix but the other has almost max roll on unique affix. How would you think this through? Which one to keep and masterwork?
I have two Mythic seals, one for two unique charms and one with less set required.
I initially thought that the second one would be BiS, but I did not realize you had to equip minimum two of one set to get any sort of bonus.
So do these have any use, especially for Poison Rogue DoK? It just seems like the Sightless 6p bonus is irreplaceable, no? I tried some stuff, but it just made my build worse.
Like I said rogue is 70. Hasn’t left the starting point yet because I just leveled him with tomes. Paragon is 228. What’s a good build to start with since I really don’t have any gear? And should I save my mythic caches for him and open them on the rogue instead of my warlock in order to get rogue specific gear?
Also, what build should I be saving gear for, like needy end game?
Thanks. I’m super new to rogue but I’m gonna have a week after I get off work today.
I’m running cold shadow shot with the sightless set and I’ve noticed a lot of the build guides take shrouded gift pants. I’m using the ner rune which gives me concealment all the time, and the damage reduction value of SG lags behind Heavenly Strength and, obviously, Glynn’s. Any particular mechanical reason for using it that I’m unaware of?
Took far too long to beat this but I did it and with my own build❤️ Nobody seems to be running TB so I havent had much to go off of online.
Next challenge is beating Pit 120 and T12 Mephisto😭
I managed to roll a pretty good 4GA Etna but im not sure if it's better than my 1 GA version. The 4GA rolled a Poison damage while the 1GA has double DoT affixes.
for reference im running a poison TB right now. I wanna know before i transfigure it.
Are no death trap builds playable? I tried a couple and cant go beyond t10 and i really dont like using traps:( should i follow mobalytics or maxroll?
Currently playing a dance of knives rogue, i was able to gear it to the point of being able to finish tier 100. Im on the stage of min/maxing my gear and Ive been checking out different builds and tier lists from different sites and the data is very inconsistent in terms of the best rogue build in the current patch.
I would just like to solicit the opinion of what most of you consider the best rogue build in terms of pushing pits and end game in general based on your experience and play through.
Thank you in advance.
Hey there fellow rogue players,
I’m having trouble in phase 3 of the mephisto fight as a pen shot rogue. I can’t seem to get past the hands and the camera panning out really throws me off. My damage is good, but if I take off scoundrel kiss charm for endurant faith my damage drops to the point where he takes too long to kill.
Are there any other defensive options I could try besides endurant faith? My glyphs are at 100, perhaps I need to more damage output from those.
Or.. maybe I am missing an opening to get in there and take him down. Open to suggestions, I’m ready to kill him and be done with the season!
Using the pen shot build off maxroll by Mattias.
While not perfect, it’s very close.
Thanks!
I'm currently running Dance of Knives. I have everything mythic that a rogue would use. I haven't invested too much time into this build so I can easily switch to another one. What is the best highest dps build currently and can you provide a link?
I found this and am using it until I get Shrouded Gift, but I wonder why it isn't the preferred pants for DoK in any builds online. I've run a number of NMD with it and the knives that fall are visible and aren't hard to pick up during the spin, the energy grant is welcome and the damage stack is noticeable. Any insights?
