She was my biggest project to date. I did all of her design, her clothes, and her face. I haven't named her yet, so I'm open to name suggestions. <3

Ha ha ha *sobs*

My attempt to repair Paramedic Barbie with the Lina face sculpt. Right side is acrylic, left is watercolor pencil.

I don't know if I just need practice, or of o need better tools, or if I just need to accept that I have the motor should of a very tired toddler.

I know my inspiration image says AI, but everything is AI now. It's really frustrating because when you just assume every image is AI modified you don't know what's possible anymore.

Anyway, advice is appreciated

Would a clay head and plasticine body work??

Hi guys :) im making an alien for a college show and i want to give it long tendrils for legs but scared if i make the whole thing out of clay the legs will snap, ive been looking into plasticine stop motion dolls and convinced this would be good for the legs, does anyone know if this is a good idea/ has any other ideas on how to do this.

This is my first time having a barbie in over 10 years and my first time repainting one. I'm not keeping her, but she's so cute and looks even more pretty irl.

Opinions needed for my next project

I’ve been making custom dolls for a while and I’ve become pretty confident with rerooting and finding my painting style! I think it’s time for me to finally do a “big” project but I’m unsure if my idea will turn out how I want it.

I want to turn a g3 Clawd Wolf into my Baldur’s Gate character. I can easily definitely do the face, makeup, and hair. I’ve never changed a doll’s skin color before but it doesn’t look too bad.

My main concern is sculpting his horns, tail, and ears. I might cut off the ears from a Draculaura and glue them on as a base since Clawd has wolf ears lol.

Should I do smaller projects for a bit more practice or just jump in 😅

I did some "plastic surgery"

So, I ordered myself Mattel's BTS Suga to use for this custom. Since I live in the middle of nowhere, it took 3 weeks to arrive, and I got the wrong doll, bts Jungkook. I did NOT want to wait any longer to exchange it, so I decided to try my best;

I wanted a round jaw, slim chin, slimmer nose bridge, less noticeable and lower cheekbones. So I just carved out thin layers of plastic until I got the rough shape, then sanded to hell until it was smooth enough. I think the chin, especially, has a very noticeable difference. And the cheekbones when looking at an angle!

The hair & face-up aren't completely finished, but I think already looks so different.

So many materials/what am I doing wrong?

Hi friends, I have been working on getting better with working on monster high dolls, but im beging to get frustrated because nothing i do is laying correctly.

Im buffing the body out before starting and using Testors for my sealant- sealing between layers. Ive been trying a large variety of materials since ive been heavily struggling- ive tried several decent brands like Faber Castel for watercolor pencils but if they do lay down on the doll its so faint, or dont show up at all. Same for pastel pencils and prismas (i know they're too waxy but hey worth a shot) Acrylics wont smooth decently even when watered down (even tried gouache at one point to see if it would work. Not really...) i have a few pan pastels and they are buttery magic, but i feel that my colors are getting muddy. I have been using makeup I no longer use, but recently learned that it will yellow over time- the chalk pastel sticks i had tried (once again a few diffrent brands) wouldnt stay, and i was scraping them into a more makeup esc consistency. Poscas are okish, but run a risk of chipping off easily, even when sealed.

Maybe it is ultimately the sealant im using? MSC isn't really an option and I thought the testers had ok grit, but maybe not. I think I got so desperate for anything to work I tried hairspray once haha- I know it wasnt a good idea but man am I lost at this point. Any thoughts, tips, recommendations are incredibly appreciated

Always looking for hair to steal lol

I just wanted to share this thrift find from today! It's an Our Generation Trista styling head. I'm sharing here because this head has the nicest hair I've ever felt on a doll! And she has a LOT of it. I'm pretty certain it's saran and the product info says it's suitable for braids and updos (which supports the idea it's saran imo). I paid $7 for her and they retail for $30 (i was truly shocked it isn't more expensive) but it looks like you can find them for pretty cheap on mercari etc. anyway, of course I bought her with the intention of stealing her hair for reroot on a monster high doll lol (i can surely do more than 1 reroot with the amount of hair she has!) does anyone else here transplant hair from other dolls?

Can’t get parting on glue wigs right !

Please can somebody offer some advice?

When I get to the parting of a wig and do the glue in an opposite direction and then flip method it doesn’t flip enough to cover the glue bit and becomes really bulky.

It just looks crap.

I am going to use dye on the hair (attempting a creative colour method) so i need it to be a wig, otherwise I would risk staining the doll head by rerooting or gluing directly

Advice needed for painting/weathering a 3D printed Angie (Resident Evil) doll

Hi everyone! Since I like to go big or go home on everything I do, I decided the very first thing I should print ever was a BJD, I didn't intend for it to be a 2/3 scale but oh well. I’ve finished printing all the parts (used a few different colors as you can see, and 1 arm & leg aren't in the picture but I do have them), and now I’m looking for advice on the best way to achieve that creepy, weathered, antique porcelain look. I'm pretty sure that the material is PLA, and I *think* it's about 24.5" or 62cm. I have no idea where to start. My main questions are:

What paints, primers, sealants should I use so that it won't look streaky and won't stay tacky on plastic? (I've heard mixed things about MSC on plastic)

what grit of sand paper should I use for sanding it?

How do I give it that weathered look?

Any relevent advice? (ie. how to protect the joints so paint doesn't rub off)
