Rift Keeper's Encyclopedia Entry - Lunarupes (+Variants Explaination)

A page from the Rift Keeper's Encyclopedia detailing a mindful mini-saurian with a proficiency in spiritualism, utilizing specially evolved mineral-rich scales as faux-telekinetic asteroids controlled solely by one of its Souls- the Magus, to be specific- through a process known as Manakinetics. Massive and intimidating through size alone, these peaceful and well-tempered beasts are a powerful ally to many a Mage, so long as they have the patience to take things slow.

Elemental Alignments: Lunar, Earth

Class Preference: Magical

Variants are a separate species of organism that are closely related to the subject species, so closely related in fact that, if an individual of the subject species is exposed to the evolutionary conditions required, they may evolve into a member of the other species.

  • A creature may evolve into any of its immediately related Variant species over the course of its life, if the conditions present themselves for a prolonged period, though once this evolution occurs, there is a natural Cooldown that prevents further evolution. If forced, this may incur Genetic Meltdown and lead to a swift demise for the individual.
  • For instance, a Lunarupes may evolve into Solisupes or Saltalupes if the individual conditions that would trigger either evolution are met for a prolonged period of time. A Lunarupes may also Ascend into Astronaughtus if it takes control of the Sand Spire Rift.
    • L'Eaidan Evolution & Classification will be expanded upon in a later entry.
    • Ascensions & Elemental Rifts will be expanded upon in a later entry.

A more accurate depiction of Baphomet

Explanation:

The popular image of Baphomet as a winged, goat-headed beast is a relatively modern invention, largely originating in the 19th century. Historically, the name “Baphomet” had no direct connection to the goat-like demon figure and may have originally been used as a corruption of other names during the 11th to 14th centuries.

Descriptions of Baphomet, extracted from confessions made by the Knights Templar during the Inquisition that began in 1307, were highly inconsistent. Some Templars denied any knowledge of him, while others described an idol in various forms, including a severed or bearded head or skull, a cat idol, or a head with three faces.

When designing this creature, I combined these different descriptions into a single concept. The result is an eldritch being with a feline-like body and a decapitated, three-faced, human-like head. Personally I find it more disturbing.

I need help with my predator monster that hunts by sound. (Dwarf for scale)

They are a little bigger than saltwater crocodiles and have longer legs too. They have two long black boxy heads on long necks with two brains, but the brains connect together at the body for easier communication (so technically one brain?). The two heads rarely fight and work together very efficiently. It doesn't have eyes, but instead 'sees' by using smell and the horns on its back to detect vibrations (kind of like Daredevil). They live in forests and grasslands.

I also have a question: Would lots of sound overstimulate it, (making it harder to detect things) or would it make it easier to find something (because there is a lot of sound to work with)?

I tried to do my own research, but I couldn't think of how to ask the question. In order to get an accurate answer
