Also for extra clout the photos (except the first) were all taken on the DSi

XMPlayer is an all-in-one, XMB-inspired media suite designed specifically for handhelds running muOS (support for other firmwares are planned). It provides a clean interface for managing and enjoying your videos, music, and photos. It’s built with Love2D, so it stays lightweight and should still feel usable on devices with limited RAM. It's fully open source, repository available on GitHub.
A quick disclaimer:
This project's aim is to utilize XMB's ease of use for media content and many people's familiarity in the retro gaming community. This project does not aim to fully replicate or provide 1:1 functionalities with the original XMB interface of Sony devices. This project is a reimagination and adaptation, not a hard copy.
Since my last update here, I’ve added a lot more of the experience:
I’m now looking for beta testers who:
If that sounds like you, I’d really appreciate the help. I’m especially looking for feedback on what breaks, what feels clunky, and what features should be prioritized next.
DM me if interested in testing this project. Just commenting your feedback below is also welcome and much appreciated!
Hello! basically the title. I already own a RG40XXV and tried to take it out with me to use as a DAP, but it's kinda big and uncomfortable for that. So I was thinking on selling it and getting a smaller one, and these two seemed to be my best bet from what I can get around in my country: Miyoo Mini Plus and MagicX Mini Zero 28.
Both consoles look really cool and are priced more or less the same, so I can't decide (and I saw some really cool pics on this subreddit that makes the decision even harder lol)
My highest priorities are:
Bonus points if it's something that I can use with hands-free controls! like stopping a track from the mic button on my headphones? or change volume from there as well (my RG40XXV doesn't register those inputs at all)
I'm more inclined on getting the Mini Zero 28: since it's based on android I heard that it's super easy to put it on sleep (just like a phone), I'm assuming it will register the buttons on my headphones with no problem and I also had a console roughly of the same size that was really comfortable to use
...but the Miyoo has really cool aesthetics and I heard the controls are really really good. Like it could be a more comfortable console than the Mini Zero 28? for gaming, at least. Maybe a worse DAP? It's a little bigger than the MagicX as well. More importantly, I don't know about the sleep mode, if the battery last or if it has to rely on shutting down to save power.
what are your thoughts? did you had any of these consoles? better yet, did you used both? Any insights would be greatly appreciatted! thanks in advance!
PD: hope my english is not too terrible to read lol
Album: Late Registration
Song: Diamonds From Sierra Leone (Remix)
Artist: Kanye West
Device: TrimUI Brick
This song is definitely my favorite off LR, followed closely by Hey Mama and Touch The Sky. Kanye's verse about the blood diamond trade is one of his best.
Thank you u/DoomEngine1 for the Brick and the giveaway I got it from!
Shoutout to my carpet for absorbing all those throws
Just find out this sub and it reminded me of this. Everything still works fine ! It could even be my main setup again (with a bluetooth transmitter now for convinience) :)
I converted my whole library to MP3 initially, but decided to try it out with other formats. sounds pretty good and it takes less storage than I thought it initially would, the only bummer is that the album cover doesn't show up. driving the Moondrop Old Fashioned and Simgot EW200 on it 🙏🏻
Hello! I hope you're all well :)
I'm looking to ditch my phone and a primary concern is a music player.
I've looked and most don't seem to support USB-C as an audio output which is really important to me.
Considering I like gaming as well buying a portable console that supports USB-C audio may be a way to kill 2 birds with one stone.
Can anyone recommend some portable consoles that support this?
Thanks!
Edit: As a comment has pointed out, I would like to use my own USB-C dac hence the question
The options I have in my contry are: Miyoo mini plus Rg35xx pro Rg35xx plus Rg40xxv RgCubexx R36s
I have heard anbernic in built 3.5mm audio jacks are bad and the usb type c dacs cant be supported, I have sony 1000xm5s as headphones, I can use them wired or wireless (having a good wired experience would be a plus point). Which one do i pick out of these for best sound quality? I have seen everyone buy trimui brick on this subreddit but its currently out of stock where I live.
This is pretty early in development still but user built themes will be *very* flexible
Hi everyone,
I’m interested in buying a Trimui Hammer to use as a DAP with external DAC, but I’m worried the OS might resample the original file format.
Has anyone successfully managed to get bit-perfect audio playback from a handheld console? Is there a specific model that allows this? Alternatively, could you suggest the necessary configurations OS tweaks, driver settings to achieve it?
My dream would be to have a handheld running Rockbox connected to an external DAC, but I want to avoid the global 44.1/48kHz resampling
Thanks for any advice!
I want to buy a GKD pixel as DAP and for retro gaming, and since I listen to all lot of audiobooks, i have been wondering how to bookmark in the pixel? Also what is the battery life on the thing?
