Hair salons for curly hair in CStat/Bryan

I've neglected getting my hair cut here in cstat/bryan because I'm very particular about who cuts my hair, but it's just been too long since I've had my hair cut. I've been trying to look around out here, so I wanted to ask around for some advice from other girls with curly hair. I have what I think would be considered 3A or 3B hair, and I just want to find a salon that knows curly hair. Too many times I've gone to places that cut it way too short because they don't understand my hair loses 3 inches when its dry or they'll use the wrong products. Anyways, if anyone has any recommendations, please let me know!

Dissertation Support

There is a new study about the experiences of nonbinary and agender first-generation college students of color. The goal of this study is to help professors, administrators, support staff, and specifically college counselors have a better understanding of the experiences these students have to help guide policy and have gender affirming and culturally appropriate care options on campuses. For this study, you are invited to share your experiences navigating higher education as a multi-marginalized individual, from the beginning, to the end, from in the classroom, and within your friendships.

About the study:

· Participants will be scheduled for one 60-minute interview (via Zoom) that will be audio recorded (no videorecording)

· To protect your privacy, the published study will not share any names or details that identify you

· Participants will have an opportunity to connect with the researcher one more time after the interview to receive the researcher’s interpretations and share your feedback via email (this is called member checking and it takes 20 minutes; a Zoom option is available if the participant prefers).

This study seeks 6 -10 volunteers who are:

· Adult (18 years old or older) currently living in the US.

· First generation college students currently enrolled or having been enrolled within the past 6 months in higher education

· Identify gender as nonbinary or agender

· Having a BIPOC identity (Black, Indigenous, people of color)

This interview is part of the doctoral study for Jana Rodriguez, a Ph.D. student at Walden University. Interviews will take place during Spring 2026.

Please email (jana.rodriguez@waldenu.edu) to let the researcher know of your interest. You are welcome to forward this information to others who might be interested.

Does anyone know who this is?

I met this man who said he lived across the street from me last Friday night and said his wife was in a car accident coming from a baby shower and needed gas money. I sent him $30 and he said he would pay me back the next day. The next day rolled around and he never paid me back and everyone across the street had no idea who he was. Does anyone know how I can find this guy to get my money back? If not please spread awareness that this man is likely a scammer trying to take money from people. Any help is appreciated!

Flock Camera Concerns Continue to Go Unanswered

This was at the city council meeting last week.

If you feel similarly about these AI surveillance cameras, then I cannot overstate how important it is that you sign up to speak at these meetings.

So far, only three people have spoken out against Flock: him, myself, and another guy. As far as the city is concerned, the residents who don't want these cameras installed form a very small minority and as such, they haven't bothered to address any of the problems that these cameras bring to our community. Whether it be the privacy concerns, inevitable abuse & misuse of data, security vulnerabilities, subversion of the 4th amendment, AI errors leading to wrongful arrests, etc. None of these issues have been addressed in a meaningful manner by the city. And on top of that, they're planning to seek an additional $370,452 for these cameras, which will be discussed at the next meeting (see agenda item 7.4 on pages 173-175).

It's not too late for this to change.

If enough of us can show up to these meetings and use our voices, we might be able to build the momentum needed to get these contracts cancelled. If other cities could do it, I don't see why we can't too.

I myself plan on showing up to next week's meeting (4/23) with some friends. If you want to sign up to speak, the form and protocol are linked down below. And if you're worried about not knowing what to say or not being particularly eloquent, don't be. Even just going up to state your name and that you don't approve of these cameras being installed will be enough to get the council's attention, as long as enough of us show up.

Hello. I’m 25, with a 9 year old son. I don’t have a car. I need somewhere to stay until I can get a car and my own place. I’m going to the shelters tomorrow after work, but if that doesn’t work out I will be outside and the state will take my child. Anyone with any resources, please message me.

Homeless.

Anastasia - Be There!

Howdyyyy!! We’re inviting all Aggies to come see the show. Rudder is massive and we don’t want an empty theater :( student tickets are $11!! It’s a fun show I promise. It’s also entirely student led and there’s a live orchestra so it’s veryyyy cool.

You can get tickets at the MSC box office or online at the box office website!
