Dissertation Support

There is a new study about the experiences of nonbinary and agender first-generation college students of color. The goal of this study is to help professors, administrators, support staff, and specifically college counselors have a better understanding of the experiences these students have to help guide policy and have gender affirming and culturally appropriate care options on campuses. For this study, you are invited to share your experiences navigating higher education as a multi-marginalized individual, from the beginning, to the end, from in the classroom, and within your friendships.

About the study:

· Participants will be scheduled for one 60-minute interview (via Zoom) that will be audio recorded (no videorecording)

· To protect your privacy, the published study will not share any names or details that identify you

· Participants will have an opportunity to connect with the researcher one more time after the interview to receive the researcher’s interpretations and share your feedback via email (this is called member checking and it takes 20 minutes; a Zoom option is available if the participant prefers).

This study seeks 6 -10 volunteers who are:

· Adult (18 years old or older) currently living in the US.

· First generation college students currently enrolled or having been enrolled within the past 6 months in higher education

· Identify gender as nonbinary or agender

· Having a BIPOC identity (Black, Indigenous, people of color)

This interview is part of the doctoral study for Jana Rodriguez, a Ph.D. student at Walden University. Interviews will take place during Spring 2026.

Please email (jana.rodriguez@waldenu.edu) to let the researcher know of your interest. You are welcome to forward this information to others who might be interested.
