What are your PC specs? (and what would you upgrade?)
Just curious what everyone is using to render their creations…
You guys will laugh at me, but i’m currently using a Macbook Pro M3 w 128gb of ram… isn’t the best for rendering, but a beast at everything else i throw at it… trying to upgrade to a workstation PC soon :)
i have c4d lite (through after effects) does it have the right tools to do fun compositing
It would be fun to learn how to take stock footage of a statue and make it look like the eyes are moving in real life by compositing the footage in cinema 4d. i haven't touched the program in years but I miss it. I have access to Cinema 4d Lite because I pay for Adobe After Effects / Adobe Creative Cloud and Maxon. are there any tutorials that could teach me how to do this? and if so, do I have all the features needed to do the compositing through my Cinema 4d Lite version?
Game like depth rendering within redshift c4d
Hi everyone,
I’m currently trying to recreate a typical “render distance” effect from video games in Cinema 4D using Redshift, where objects gradually fade out as they get further away from the camera.
Unfortunately, I can’t get it to work properly. I’ve tried using camera distance in the shader to drive opacity, but the result is either too abrupt or just doesn’t behave the way I expect.
I’d like to avoid volumetric fog because of the render times, so I’m looking for a lightweight, shader-based solution instead.
Has anyone here done something like this before and maybe has a sample scene or node setup they could share? That would really help me understand how to set this up correctly.
Thanks a lot!
Hibiki Suntory Whisky - 21 Years old
A small render study of Hibiki 21. Spent most of the time getting the lights and the textures to behave right. Cinema 4D and Octane.

Here are some renders i did for a wireless USB adapter for mechanical keyboards. Please give me some feedback :)
Motion Tracking
Hello,
I was asking myself if there was a way to export the position data of an object during animation from Cinema4D to use it to position 2D animation in After Effects without having to use Track Motion ?
Prevent C4D from baking ACES into output
Does anybody know how to prevent C4D/Redshift from baking ACES into the output of your render so it can be comped in Nuke? Currently, if you're using Nuke with ACES, renders from C4D will come in incorrectly because ACES is baked into the render.
There used to be an option to prevent Redshift from doing this in the render settings, but now they've moved ACES options to the project settings, and those options are no longer there.
Tried to import blender file as FBX and this happened
Completely new to Cinema 4D, not sure if it's the problem about the texture or the light. Can someone please tell me how to properly import object from Blender file to Cinema 4D? Thank you.
Polygon with weird lines/angles
Hi everyone, I'm not so good at modeling. My model has this kind of issue with the normal or phong angle (idk)
Is there any way to fix it?
Thank you in advance.
Block guy won’t bind to joints
I’m starting to reach my wits end, I have the joints setup along the body and each object editable, but the option refusing to not be greyed out, is there a very recent guide I can follow, making this cannot be that complicated.
Stylized Porsche for a private project short movie
Hey everyone.
A few days ago, I posted the wireframe view of my stylized Porsche project. Thanks for all the nice comments.
So, now the exterior is finished, and the mundane daily grind is calling me back.
When I have time again, I’ll work on the character, and then hopefully the environment, rigging, and off we go!
How do I make the light pass through the watch glass?
I am trying to recreate this render for my watch model.
this is somewhere i've reached, i have disabled the watch dial glass to make the engravings visible.
Please help how can i improve this render.
Thank you in advance :)

Hey everyone! Made a 3D motion reel for a studio. Would love to see your feedback!
First Real 3D Character Test
I've done little noodly armed characters before, but this was my first real actual model where I played with the shapes and box modeled the head and body. I cheated the arms and hands and jaw (because i had NO idea how to make a mouth rig), and the whole thing is a bit of a mess but I love him. I learned a lot and would NEVER build this way again. Onto the next one!
Made this clip while waiting for the movie to premiere
Made some backrooms in C4D & Redshift, composited innAe

Extract Alpha from PNG Script, because RS Color Splitter doesn't work with the Viewport
Hey everybody!
For quite a while now, it’s been really bugging me that I can’t properly use the Color Splitter in Redshift to create an alpha cutout. I often work with PNGs on planes, and I haven’t found a good solution for dealing with the alpha not showing correctly in the viewport when using the Color Splitter node.
I searched the web, but the only workaround I found was using the Standard Renderer material for cutouts… meh.
So I asked Claude AI for a solution, and it gave me a script that extracts the alpha from a file (or multiple files at once) and saves it separately.
I’ve saved it in my Dropbox along with a few other scripts (all AI-generated – I can’t code 🙄), in case anyone is interested:

(extract_alpha_MULTIFILE.py)
TL;DR:
Color Splitter node with alpha → viewport issue
Claude AI generated a script to extract alpha into a separate file
Bees are important.
Found this on an old hard drive today. Made it for a client years ago. The keyframes are messier than I'd allow now, but the environment still holds up ig.
Massive repository of 3D resources
Hi all! I have been working on compiling a big repository of 3d resources (both free and paid). My goal is to make a free resource that anyone can refer to. Please feel free to share your thoughts and suggestions, this is very much a work-in-progress.
