Spotify stopped showing my gen2 Chromecast audio a few days ago.

I remember there was an issue maybe a year ago where they were updating something and it wasn't working for a few days. The only info I can find is that they are upgrading Gemini to Home (,which is irrelevant to me as I only use Spotify through my phone). Is that it? Will it work again or will I have to upgrade to a newer version?

I haven't done anything differently. I tried all the usual steps, restarted my Chromecast, the Wifi, the phone, nothing is working. Home app still looks the same as before. I can cast my audio to a single Chromecast through the app, but not to a group.

Please help, I need my daily music!

Edit: It works fine on my daughter's phone, she's on my Spotify contract, same wifi and Google home. It also works when I connect from my laptop. So I'm guessing it could be to do with Spotify latest app version. Android btw.

Did Google make an update that crashed casting videos

Over the past month seems casting videos has broken. Devices tested CCwGTV Nvidia Shield Sony Tv with CC/Gtv built it and TCL TV with CC/Gtv built in Onn Streaming Plus

I used to be able to cast videos from Google Chrome or Brave browser with no issues. Now it doesn't work on all the above devices. I get stuck with the above screen after I see the cast start to load on the TV. The issue is across multiple websites and different devices. I have cleared cache and data from Google play services. I have tried it over different networks/ routers. Rebooted the TV, phone/tablet/computer I'm casting from, the receiving casting device with CC, and the router.

Seriously WTF. I believe there was a backend Google update that broke it. Can I fix this or did Google break it? I'm guessing I have to wait for a Google update.... Should I bust out my old CC ultra?

Chromecast Suddenly Awful

I have a fourth gen Chromecast and it’s plugged into my non-smart Samsung TV and has been working well (occasionally loses WiFi and needs a reboot) for the duration I have owned it. In the last week it has started not working in various ways. I turn on the TV and it says no source when it always would start off on the homepage. I now need to unplug and plug in the Chromecast every time I turn on the TV after a while of not watching TV. Also, the remote often won’t work after rebooting. The batteries are new, the little white light at the bottom of the remote turns on when I pop the batteries out but after rebooting the Chromecast for a second time, it works. Thirdly, certain apps (Peacock and Paramount+, namely) take three or four tries to open. It shows the splash screen then kicks me back to the home page a few times before it opens the app. Nothing has changed from the TV, WiFi, or anything else I can think of but I am at wits and with this little device. Any advice or is it time to trash this little hockey puck of frustration?

Casting video on web browser from certain websites via phone stopped working?

About a month or two ago I suddenly lost the ability to cast PHub from any device (phones, tablets, etc) to my Chromecast. My partner and I had been doing this regularly during playtime, but suddenly it just doesn't work. All I get is the blue cast icon against a black background.

I've tried restarting my Chromecast and each of the individual devices, clearing cache, using different browsers.

And what's really weird is that random short clips like this one will stream just fine. Maybe I'm paranoid but it's almost like chrome has blocked casting of adult content.

Can anyone confirm?

Hello fellow Chromecast users,

I just had an enlightening conversation with a useful member of the Google customer service staff. I was troubleshooting an issue with the MLB app, as about two weeks ago it stopped showing the casting icon to enable casting to my 2nd generation device. I was told that Disney+ and the official MLB app had removed their support of casting to our devices. This is being done "quietly" and I can confirm that since I looked all over for this specific in formation on the MLB website to no avail.

The customer service agent told me that my first and second generation devices have reached their functional limits. She couldn't tell me if other services were going to start falling away (like Netflix several months back) and intimated that Youtube would soon follow suit.

I own 3 Chromecasts and have one in every TV in my home. Looks like that will have to change now. She recommended I purchase an onn 4K streaming device, made by Walmart but supported by Google.

I've had these things for 10+ years.

Music saved to phone - Chromecast vs Bluetooth

I should first specify that I’m old and I’ve never used Chromecast and really don’t know what it does. I recently bought an av receiver with Chromecast built in, but have no idea how to use it. I have the google home app on my phone and wondering if it’s better to stream music through Chromecast rather than how I’ve done it in the past just connecting to Bluetooth and streaming through my phone. I thought I read that streaming through Chromecast is better quality than Bluetooth. Do I just play music from my phone, go into google home and cast from there?

Chromecast will no longer connect to my wifi. I've tried EVERYTHING!

I have a new router because I thought it was my old one causing the issue. I've tried on 3 different devices, precise location on, bluetooth on, no VPN, moved connecting device to within 30cms of Chromecast device. I've tried EVERY single search suggestion and even tried it MULTIPLE TIMES via video Techsee support (after 30mins when I finally suggested the device had failed I got hung up on! 🤬)

Any suggestions???

Ps, don't have a computer, only Android phones and tablet.

Hi all,

Yesterday I received a message that my Google Home is upgraded to Gemini.
After this (don't know if it has something to do with this) Spotify can't find any device anymore.
(I have 3 chromecast audio's and 2 home's).
Spotify still can find a connect device.
If I try to cast from another app (YT music, plex) it finds my devices.
I can't find a solution anyone encounter this issue?

For a while now, I’ve been experiencing a strange issue on my home network.

My internet connection to the outside world is very unstable (see screenshot).

At first, I thought there was an issue with the modem/router from my internet provider, but that turned out not to be the case.

After some investigation, I noticed that the problem was coming from one specific switch in my network. I then unplugged the cables one by one while running a continuous ping to the outside.

As soon as I unplugged the cable connected to my Google Streamer, the timeouts immediately disappeared.

So the issue was coming from the Google device.
otherwhise its working perfect.

Anyone here having the same issue?

I would prefer not to factory reset the streamer unless there really is no other option.

Looking for a reliable replacement Chromecast remote (G9N9N) - needs to be identical or very close

Hey,

My mom's original Chromecast TV remote (G9N9N) just died, and I need to get a replacement.

The problem is most third-party remotes I’m seeing have really bad reviews (laggy buttons, pairing issues, poor build quality, etc.), so I’m a bit hesitant to just buy a random one. From what I’ve seen, that concern seems pretty justified - people often complain that cheap replacements stop working quickly or have unresponsive buttons.

I need something that is either identical to the original remote or very, very close in layout. This is for my mom, and switching to a completely different style remote (like a smart remote or something with a totally different layout) would be a big problem for her.

So I’m specifically looking for:

same (or almost identical) button layout

reliable connection (Bluetooth, no weird lag)

decent build quality

If you’ve actually used a replacement remote that fits this and works well long-term, I’d really appreciate a recommendation (brand/model/link if possible).

Thanks!

after casting put the channel back to where it was on TV?

I don't know if this idea is technically possible , but i regularly chromecast from my laptop to my TV from youtube and it has no problem changing over to the HDMI input to the chromecast at the back of the TV - but I think when you press 'stop casting' from the laptop then the TV should go back to what input (in my case the other HDMI socket) it was before it started chrome-casting.

Just as the title says. Worked fine yesterday, woke up and both systems are offline and can’t connect to wifi.

No router updates for the last 3 months, so that’s not the issue.

Only thing I found was the google article about an update yesterday.

Am I the only one with this problem or is this a widespread issue?

All we're previously setup and working fine whenever we periodically used them. Last time was maybe a month ago. Today I noticed they don't show up in the "cast to" menu. Google Home says they're disconnected even though they show up fine on the TVs.

I factory reset all 3 and now Google home won't recognize any of them for setting up.

Nothing about my whole tv/network/wifi/provider/Google/etc setup has changed in several years.

I have released an early version Chromecast Party Game inspired by Kahoot!, Jackbox, etc. The idea is to distribute it via Play Store and App Store... Since Jackbox is limited to Consoles and Netflix, and Kahoot requires subscriptions now.

If you want to give it a shot, it's super easy to Google because the name is somewhat unique... just look for "Zooked!" and you should find it on the Appstore or Google Play Store.

All feedback is welcome!

Looking for a deep-fix for an infinite spinning wheel when casting YouTube Music to Google devices (Nest/Chromecast).

The Setup: Device: the new 600 pro, cloned from a magic v5.

The Clue: My iPhone casts perfectly to everything. This phone casts perfectly to my LG TV (DLNA), but fails on every Google Cast target.

Already Tried (No Luck):

Caches: Cleared YT Music, Google Play Services (Manage Space > Clear All Data), and Play Store.

Permissions: Reset/Toggled "Nearby Devices" and Microphone for all relevant apps.

Account: Re-synced Google account; toggled "Cast Media Controls."

System: Reset Network Settings (Wi-Fi/BT) completely.

Network: AdGuard Private DNS disabled; tested with Bluetooth off (to avoid Guest Mode interference).

Battery: All relevant services set to "Unrestricted."

Since LG/DLNA works, the discovery is fine, but the Google Cast handshake is broken. Is there a specific MagicOS system service or "clone-ghost" setting I’m missing? Trying to avoid a factory reset.
