I just...im stuck with the car..I have to get the repairs... it has two oil leaks. Another coolant issue...and the turbo is dead...im fucked. I cant afford a car payment and ful coverage insurance...so i have to pay eith my credit cards and get this repaired...im just stuck..
These are just two of the repairs..we'll three...not including the turbo replacement.
I just sealed the deal on this car yesterday. I remember several years ago they had it listed for sale but was curious if anyone else remembers it.
I’m curious if anyone has an insight to where I could be leaking oil from. I have the 18 1.4T with 160k on the dash. I changed the Valve Cover and Camshaft Solenoid Gasket because Chevy told me that’s all that was leaking. I still have a big leak somewhere does anyone have any ideas? I’m thinking probably the Oil Cooler but I don’t wanna just replace it if it’s not because taking the turbo out is a big job.
EDIT: overwhelming consensus seems to be it’s the classic Eco-tick, but thanks for the sanity check everyone! Due to its age I planned on getting a full fluid work up anyways and I’ve got the evap canister on order so after those two things it ought to make me feel a bit better about it too. I gotta remind myself having driven V8s for so long that these little engines make just as much engine noise but the exhaust is naturally quieter so they seem busted
2015 LTZ 1.4L Turbo only 25k miles but it probably sat a lot in its ten years because of the low mileage, no visible check engine lights either. I’ve already unplugged the evap canister and one layer of the ticking stopped, so that’s already on order to replace. The louder more obvious one though I fear is timing related, doesn’t seem like knock. I saw a video where some orange piece under the valve cover gets loose and so I’m for sure not going to have the right tools to mess with that, but could it be anything else before I take to a shop? Going to get all the fluids shocks and brakes redone anyways so just getting a list going of what to check first, and to move up my timeline on getting it done
I hit 217400 today, who has more mileage I wanna see how much longer I have
Edit: I have a 2013 Chevy sonic ls
Decided to get my own hatchback. A family member has this black sonic that everyone borrowed when they're having car issues. I love it so much I decided to get my own red hatchback after too many issues with my previous vehicle.
2015 LTZ with 85k miles
Wondering how I’d go about fixing this…
Actual decent car.
Sheesh 2k was a steal
Working everything, low mileage
Such an cool and fun car
I'm thinking about buying this to replace the OEM parts before they fail. Should this work or do you suggest another brand? 1.4L Turbo, 2015. If you have links that would be appreciated.
Broke the mount with little effort. Gotta replace it to sell the car. Does anyone know what it is called?
I am a new sonic owner. Only owned it for about a week. It makes a clicking/rattling noise and I'm not sure what it is. Also seems like it's leaking something, and I'm not sure what it is. I haven't really been under the car but it looks like its coming off the transmission? It seems to drive fine. I drove it about 300 miles home then like another 130 miles back and forth on the highway. Its only got 88k miles. No check engine light. Any help or advice is appreciated. It is a 2016 chevy sonic 1.4 turbo.
I have a 2015 Chevy Sonic LT turbo with a mystery leak. The coolant was emptying a little faster than it should and there was a wet spot on the ground. One place couldn’t find anything and another place said the coolant tank was cracked and replaced it, the leak continued. I took a closer look today and found these wet spots in the engine. When I zoom in there’s 3 big puddles of a reddish liquid. I know the water pump is a known issue with these cars. Any ideas?
Posted about this earlier today. Unfortunately don't have anyone to record this for me while I rev the engine but this is what it sounds like inside the car. Been like this for over a month but Engine light only came on a couple of days ago. Oil is good. Coolant is good. Did two rounds of fuel injector cleaner and it seems to be burning less gas than before but it sounds like a cyberpunk car and struggling with acceleration more than usual.
Any ideas?
I drive a 2013 Chevy sonic while coming into work the shifter knob button broke and now I have noway of putting it in drive is there any way I can put it into drive?
New oil, plugs and coil pack, lower controls, cv's, swaylinks replaced water pump, timing belt, tensioners. I have just received the battery, exhaust cam sensor and the crankshaft sensor. The starter cranks but won't turn over.
