I’ve been researching this idea for a while and I think Tacoma is ready for it. The idea is simple, a fridge placed outside a local business or community space where anyone can leave or take food for free.

These already exist in Seattle, NYC, Chicago, and a bunch of other cities. They’re volunteer-run and surprisingly straightforward to set up. I’ve already been in touch with the Seattle Community Fridge and Freedge (the national nonprofit that supports these) and both have been really helpful.

I’m not looking for anything formal to kick things off, just a small group of people who care and have a little time to spare. Could be 3-4 of us to start.

If this sounds like something you’d want to be part of, drop a comment or DM me. Would love to connect with people who are as excited about this as I am.

Checking in on all of us!

Hi there,

Mod here, my own life has had some huge ebbs and flows, ups and downs very recently and I have taken to reserving my energy.

I just want to check in on the community, all of Tacoma and surrounding areas.

How are you doing?

Scale of 1-10, with 1 bad and 10 good.

Color range.

Tell me using a food.

A texture.

One of those e quizzes!

A smell..

Check in as seriously or as silly as you need but please, please, please check in.

Mine will be in the comments.

Don't wait for me.

Large dog beds (laundered)

Our dog passed away recently. 😢 We are gifting medium to large dog beds. Take what you need. Ideally, they can be shared with several families.

Round, square, rectangular... Lambskin, memory foam... And one raised bed for the yard.

Curbside pickup [edit: location removed]
