Gifted a car need Advice

Long story short i got given this 99 Camry wagon, i have other cars, but this will most likely become the daily driver. Im located in Australia so that might limit some of the advice people can give.

This thing is 100% stock. So the headunit is shocking and sounds like half the speakers are ripping themselves apart.

So im in need of a basic Headunit that has AA , wont sound like absolute trash, and probably some basic cheaper speakers of the same quality. Suggest away. I don't mind spending a bit of money, but it being a cheaper car i don't want to sink absolute thousands of dollars into it.

Door sound deadening

Door deadening material question (keeping it simple)

Single cab truck. Not doing a full soundproof build, just trying to clean things up a bit.

Plan:

• using Amazon Basics style butyl mat (blue stuff) on back wall, under seat, pillars(i dont know if thus is ok hoensyly still)

• NOT doing roof

• NOT doing under carpet (don’t want moisture issues)

Doors:

I am not doing insude of the door as it ahs many braces and is stupid solid already. Only working behind the interior door panel.

Goals for doors:

• reduce panel vibration

• stop rattles

• keep dust out of cab

Where I’m stuck:

Should I use the same butyl mat behind the door panel, or is that the wrong material for that spot?

I’ve also seen people use dense black foam instead. That seems more like what I want for sealing and keeping dust out, but I’m not sure if it actually helps with sound at all.

So basically:

• butyl mat behind door panel, yes or no?

• or should I be using closed cell foam instead?

• if foam, how thick / what type works best?

Keeping this practical, not trying to go full build.

Anyone know the name of the connector on this TFT LCD screen?

I use this monitor for the rear view camera in my car, for hitching trailers, and it recently died. I literally cannot find anything about this monitor on the internet, and I have no idea what connector it uses either - it was installed too long ago for me to remember. It has a total of 8 pins, with 7 arranged in a circle with 1 in the middle, along with a divet on one side for orientation. Does anyone know where I can get a similar monitor in Australia, or the name of this connector?

System advice as an (old) newbie

Ok. I have not really messed with any stereo stuff since the 90s other than swapping head units. And even in the 90s I couldn't afford a big system. So be easy on an old man.

I am restoring a 91 S10. Giant turbo engine, the whole bit. While I am assembling all the go fast parts, I want to put a system together that focuses on loudwith added bump. I do have confines though. Its a bench seat and has yo be all the way back.

I posted some pictures of where I think I need to be. I already have Kicker K series 4s for the dash, 4x10s for behind the cab, and a Pioneer single din that I am reusing. out has one left and right output. I am adding some custom pods to the door because these trucks had no door speakers . That's the 6.5s, 2 in each door. 8 speakers overall with a sub.

I want to use the 6 channel amp to power the 4s, 6.5s, and 4x10s. Then use the mono amp to power the sub.

I will build a custom box or Rockford has a shallow mount box that seems to be the smallest on the market, but having trouble trying to find just the sealed box. The shallow mount sub you see.

So power system wise on a Sunday driver, do I need a bigger alternator or some type of power bank? Do I need a DSP? I was thinking the DSP would help me add the channels easier and they are fairly cheap. What else am I missing? What should I do differently?

I am not interested in building a competition system, just something loud in a small cab. I don't want to spend crazy money. Using the budget you see here, is there a more efficient way to spend the same money?

I know its a lot of questions, and I am doing the research, just would appreciate some solid guidance. Thanks guys!

Recommendations on shop quotes

I have received 3 quotes and am looking for any thoughts on the ones I received. I am leaning towards quote #1 based on several factors but am seeking other thoughts. Below is a summary of what I sent:

“2019 Honda Civic Si Coupe with stage 3 resonix sound deadening completed on my doors. I just purchased 6.5 Focal Flax Evo woofers/tweeters and am looking for advice/quote on a system install. I have already installed the speakers but not the tweeters. Speakers have issue with adapters and need soldering.

I am leaning towards working around the factory radio for now as the harness and install would probably not be worth the cost. My factory system has a center dash speaker (3.5 inch coaxial speaker). I already replaced this with a JL Audio C2-350x but am wondering/second guessing if this would be a good setup since I just bought the focal flax speakers (would these speakers pair well, tune well with DSP, would no center dash speaker be a better option, etc.) and would be looking for a subwoofer/amp and aftermarket speaker amp along with DSP (ideally running active) to get the most out of the speakers. I am looking for a tight and accurate sound. My budget would be around 3000-4000.”

Is this quote good?

I have a 21 Gladiator, I was wanting to replace the factory soundbar speakers with 6x9’s

And upgrade the kicker panel and dash speakers as well as run an amp.

The quote I was given seems to be a little high…

Can someone with knowledge of car audio look at the quote and give your opinion please?

Is this good for my Sony XAV6000 with a 12inch Kicker sub in my 2011 KIA Optima?

Here’s the breakdown:

Front: 125Hz, Slope -48dB/Oct

Rear: 79Hz, Slope-24dB/Oct

Sub: 125Hz, Slope -24dB/Oct

Reverse

Did I just make an underpowered mess

I’m doing a budget build for a jeep wrangler yj weekend fun car. I found a Skar m400d on Facebook for Jeep which can do 250ish at 4 ohms bridged. I connected it to a Skar VD8 and I’m getting literally a tiny vibration of bass. Just assume I set the gain correctly and tell me if it’s just not nearly enough power to move this VD8.

amp suggestions

I plan on putting 2 Memphis Mojo 6.5s in the back of my truck. I need an amp between 1400w and 1500w that would power these at 1-2 ohm. Preferably an amp that will run both. I was thinking of the Memphis MJP1500, or VIV1500. But I’m not sure what to go with. I’m not fond on skar unless someone tells me otherwise

Tuning Amp

After a lot of research, I’ve finally tuned my amp! I used an oscilloscope from my work and tuned my gain playing a 50Hz test tone. I made sure the bass know was all the way up, I had no EQ on my head unit, and the volume was at 75% of its max. I got my signal right under clipping, just like all the advice online says. My only issue is the sub feel underwhelming unless the volume is at 75% of its max. I’ve definitely had the gain set higher than what the oscilloscope had me set it to. The lower frequencies (30-40Hz) feel so quiet now. Any advice here? Should I turn down the head unit and tune it from there? My oscilloscope only goes down to 45Hz so tuning below won’t be possible. I’ve also tried tuning with a multimeter and it had me land right at the same spot. I feel like it’s important to add that I’m using my stock head unit with a rather cheap line output so I’m thinking that’s where my issue probably lies. For my sub being able to handle what it can, it just feels underwhelming unless at 75% power. System specs below

Sub: Kicker CompQ 15 4ohm DVC wired to 2ohms final impedance (1200rms, 2400 peak)

Amp: Rockville DB14 (1000rms @ 2ohms)

Box: Ground shaker single 15 XL box (air volume 3.35 ft, tuned at 33Hz)

Wiring: 4 gauge true AWG OFC for power and ground

Infinite baffle day 3

Got the pieces cut for the most part, gotta do some triangles for support but it’s going along nicely, I’m just kinda stalling until my check comes to get the sound mat but that may come sooner than later lol. What’s the best way to get all your wood pieces to be flush on the sides, my cuts aren’t th best but for a first time I think it’s going great!

Is this clipping or just plastic and metal rattling?

I just installed these new speakers and I was trying to figure out their max volume before clipping starts so they can actually last some time.

The question I have is are the later parts of the video signal clipping or is it metal and plastic rattling from the high volume?

Buying an oscilloscope is not an option because the speakers themselves are probably cheaper than an oscilloscope.

Also I want to thank the amazing people of this subreddit who have always been really helpful!

Battery terminals

What is everyone's opinion on this style of battery terminal? I picked these up years ago (thinking yard sale) and never used them. I am currently doing a big 3 upgrade and wondering if I should swap the factory terminals out for these. I'm not running much power in this particular vehicle, but I've been getting a lot of corrosion on my negative battery terminal.

2018-2022 Honda Accord Skar 12" Subwoofer sealed enclosure

Does anyone have any experience with the Skar sealed enclosure for the 10th generation Honda Accord? I currently have a Rockford Fosgate R500X1D with a JL Audio 10TW1 (CP110LG-TW1) ported. I've always enjoyed ported enclosures over sealed for that extra low bass. but I really like the idea of having the sub in the wedge of the trunk out of the way. The JL doesn't take up much space, but I've been kicking this idea around. I have a spare JL Audio 12TW3 I can use. Not sure if this enclosure will work since it is a little larger than what JL recommends or if there is a better sub to use for this enclosure? Any input would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

Does anyone feel like rambling about how to get sub 30hz enclosures?

I’m running 32hz now the lowest box I can find is 30hz which is awesome but how exactly are we getting lower than that? I dont see anyone selling anything under 30hz as well as I personally know people who claim they are running 17hz. Is it true idk he’s got $10,000 into just his speaker setup but just try and help me understand A. How people are achieving such numbers and B. Anything else you’ve just been dying to talk about. (Relating to this ofc)

Albright what the bloody hell have I done.

installed a stereo to the car, the last one got its touch screen broken. I used a plug and play loom from aerpro and the steering harness.

bit tricky but I got it connected, when I'm driving under 20kmh the car turns on and off mute. when I go over 20 kmhs it settles out and seems to work. why might this be the case?

I'm using a pioneer AVH-X3800DAB in a 2012 corolla hatch.
