Ex diamond here. Been away from the game for about 1.5 years. Im no gods gift to earth but i have pretty good fundamentals and have many hours on the game. I have been playing rank alot recently currently in mid plat. The types of players range so drastically, but that's not why im writing. There has been a handful of games were the opponent seems to perfectly react and press the right button to everything with near perfect accuracy. I know how players play. And I know when im getting out played. Is this washed diamond player just failing to adapt or is there something else going on?

Ive tried a bunch of characters and weapons and ive decided im just gonna pick one weapon and only use it until i master it. whats the best weapon to do this with? hopefully it gives results very quickly and carries me far, i dont want to fully learn it and realize i was better off putting that same effort into a better weapon

I swear Brawlhalla has some of the most infuriating gameplay I’ve experienced in a fighting game.

Every match feels less about actual skill and more about who can spam the same move over and over without getting punished. Half the lobby just abuses sigs, passive play is rewarded way too much, and somehow the hitboxes still feel weird after all this time. I’ll dodge something cleanly and still get clipped like the game already decided I was getting hit.

The ranked experience is miserable too. Either you queue into someone way above your level, a smurf, or someone playing like their family is being held hostage if they lose. There’s barely any middle ground between “easy win” and “least enjoyable 6 minutes of your life.”

And don’t even get me started on input delay online. Some matches feel smooth, then the next game feels like you’re fighting underwater. For a game that’s been out this long, it’s crazy that basic online consistency still feels random.

The worst part is the game could be amazing. The movement is fun, the concept is good, and some weapons genuinely feel satisfying. But the constant spam, floaty combat, passive players, and matchmaking make it exhausting to play for more than an hour.

Maybe I’m just burned out, but lately playing this game feels more irritating than fun.
