If you could remove one gamemode from the ranked experience, which one would it be and why?

If you could remove one gamemode from the ranked experience, which one would it be and why?

I would remove gem grab due to -

  1. It being a high cortisol gamemode

  2. Randoms picking surge fp on undermine

R-T's marks now scale with damage buffs

But the damage buff applies to the mark after hitting a second time

Also the damage gear is useful on R-T now

Buffies couldn't save Bo long term, what about the rest?

Bo has been needing a star power rework. Its been 6 or 7 years since Snare A Bear was added to his kit and they've done nothing to it. Namsu did a good job explaining Bo's problem. For Bo to not get a star power rework to either of his star powers when he got buffies is tragic and Bo could forever be stuck in his noob stomper state like he has been for years.

Grom, Mandy and Mr P have a similar problem. They're all really good against bad players and are considered mythic/legendary shredders while not really serving a purpose in competitive. Mandy and Grom do have star power issues and recently Grom in particular has become more dependent on the damage star power since his damage nerf.

Mr P is now a worse Sirius, not just stats but design wise. Sirius feels less sufferable than Mr P and isn't as oppressive against bad players while still being problematic in competitive. Mr P is different since he doesn't lose his porters when he dies but it kind of makes him more toxic.

When Bo got his buffies, he naturally fell off again. With no rework to his star powers his mines are a testament to how good you are at the game. Technically Bo counters low mobility comps but there are way more competent controllers that do the same. Even with the nasty hyper buffie and the cheesy totem Bo has fallen off in comp but remains overtuned in the mid rank.

Will the other brawlers see a similar pattern? Mr P was actually a viable/balanced pick in comp for a decent amount of time after his hypercharge got reworked but he was killed again as he was hella dominant in rank where everyone overfeeds. As far as I can tell Mandy and Grom have been good against bad players since forever and doesn't serve any purpose in competitive outside of last pick in the case of Grom. Grom does have a 100% winrate in the brawl cup and LCQ last year so I think hes a tad better than Mandy, until he got nerfed.

What even happens when they get buffies? Will they follow Bo and fall off in comp again? Become too toxic all around and get heavy nerfs? Is there a way to fix/rework Mandy, Mr P and Grom?

Otis may genuinely be the only thing holding this game together

Like name another brawler that is as good as Otis at preventing Adrian's recent work from taking over the game (especially in ranked). Chester is also good but does not have the shutdown ability of Otis, Charlie doesn't do enough burst damage, Cord doesn't have range and his super lowkey isn't the greatest after the nerf, Clancy is vulnerable for half the game, and gale/lou are not good enough in all modes. Even Sirius cannot act as good of an anti tank due to Damian.

I am going to call it right now and say that next update they are going to nerf otis but leave the other brawlers mostly intact

Okay, but what if... Damians super was a half circle instead?

Would this actually help balance him? At the very least the Damian player would have to think a little harder about how he'll use the super.

Isn't the Griff bug patch a bit too drastic? Wouldn't that affect his place too much before a big event?

Brawl Stars refuses to do any serious balance changes before an esports event to avoid disrupting the competitive scene. If we do get balance changes its under specific conditions

  • Bug fixes that weren't supposed to be there in the first place
  • Nerfing OP brawlers on release that are too new for esports anyways
  • Rarely small nerfs to top brawler(s) that receive small nerfs (only small impact in comp)

Griff only got a bug fix so he didn't technically get nerfed yet. But Griff had this bug for YEARS. Griff effectively got reworked before the brawl cup so likely his placed in the meta changed entirely before a big event. I'm not the biggest fan of shotgunner Griff but I think this change was too heavy before the brawl cup even though its technically a bug fix.

What are you opinions on Damian after the balance changes?

To me he definitely feels weaker, he needs like 10 hits to get his Super instead of 6 and with the explosion delay increased to 1.5 Secs, his DPS is not that great.

Any thoughts?

Is there any competitive advantage if playing in such a questionable position?

Sitetampo the goat, that is for sure, but I was wondering if there was a reason he played on the floor in what it seems like an extremely uncomfortable position.

If you actually get better by playing like i might lowkey do it as well ngl.

Wouldn't have been a better idea if he can't naturally heal, while attacking instead?

This nerf still bothers me, that adrian's bandaid ass solutions is to nerf is range which can break the brawler. Besides one of bert's strengths is survivability, amd that's why his healing starpower is so strong. Also he's the only brawler (excluding bolt because he's not released) that can naturally heal while attacking. It's just inconsistent with the fact that hank got this nerf while bert didn't. It goes to show that adrian's quality to balance has gone down.

What y'all thoughts?

Cool Finx tech

Not sure if this is common knowledge or not, but I had no idea that finx super slows mortis’s bat form! Pretty cool and as you can tell no one on my team really knew what was happening either. Still cool though and basically puts mortis out of play for a good six seconds.

...is Arena just dead now because of Damian?

[EDIT]: Maybe "dead" is too strong of a word, but it's deffo not in a good state, at least imo.

First post here bc I'm curious about what y'all think:

So I've been trying to play Arena for the sake of playing something that's not Brawl Ball, but literally every single game I play with actual people has at least one Damian, and he just rolls the match immediately. It's not even funny or tech-y or something, it's just a mind-boggling massacre that leads me to lose several matches in a row to throw me straight back into bot games. His explosion gimmick is beyond moronic, and the fact that they just keep on going forever is just unfair and unfun to face. If you don't have a counter ready for him -which are already scarce- you're just fucked.

This is most probably a skill issue on my end (+ I'm not playing my mains so this is all on ladder under 1k... yay...), but I still wanted to ask y'all to see how different is the situation on different skill levels.

Mostly because I don't wanna subject myself to play more Arena in this meta...

Gem Bank! A Gem Grab Rework [Concept]

What are your thoughts about this concept? Should it be implemented? If not why doesn't it work/ what are the pain points?

If you do however think it should be implemented, do you think it should take twenty seconds to bank gems? Do you think it should take ten banked gems to win?

If you read the concept I would just like to say thank you and I hope you have a good morning, afternoon, evening or night wherever you are!

Can they just write using normal numbers?

Is it really that hard to write balance changes using normal numbers instead of values that mean nothing? Hypercharge was changed from 20 to 35 cool, but that tells us nothing. Why not just say it takes 3.3 instead of 5? Same with Supercharge how am I supposed to know how much a change from 75 to 60 actually matters? And I won't even comment on supercharge from explosions being "greatly" reduced.

Now that his years long bug was fixed, can we address griff is way too reliant on his gadget and kinda just sucks?

He opens up the map..

..then what?

Sure the maps open now! It's going to be very hard for a tank to approach you, especially since you have a super that does 7k to the enemi-

Oh that was fixed? huh.

I feel like this is genuinely the only reason they never touched upon this bug at all. What does griff do aside from breaking walls? Why is she so gadget dependant to do well?

He's always just felt underwhelming untill he got his super. And now that its (justifably) fixed, he feels even more underwhelming even if he has his super.

His buffies aren't really anything to write home about either, except, yknow, the gadget buffie that makes the thing he depends on way better?

How do they fix griff at this point to not be EXTREMELY unfair to go against as a close ranged brawler, while also making him counter said close ranged brawlers?

Jacky should have had her shield during her super back.

I really feel like Jacky's super is starting to get back to what it was originally. Every time she uses her super, she dies because she's too exposed and has no way to mitigate the damage. Back in the day, the super had an activation delay accompanied by a 50% shield that lasted for 2 seconds, and it was so bad that it was recommended to you to NOT use it because it could kill you and cost you the match. The delay was then removed, and Jacky could attack as soon as she pulled, but she lost her shield, making the super just usable. Currently she is so fragile that she can't get close and dies if she did, so why not bring it back?
