I found this bug in my bathroom at night, 5 days ago. First thought was bedbug, but after watching it and taking some photos I figured it wasn’t and killed it. The morning after I started to doubt that conclusion and looked at photos, and now need some help.

Since then ive bagged my stuff and turned my apartment over cleaning and searching, didn’t find a thing. Until I checked briefly again yesterday and noticed some black spots that smudged when touched (droppings?) and a beige yellowish blotting on the leg of my bed frame.

The bug looked more beetle like and I didn’t notice any obvious blood come out when I squished it. But it also doesn’t look like any other obvious bug either. For size reference, at least half of it was squished under the butt of a matchstick.

Thank you for any thoughts!!!!

Bedbugs? Fleas? Neither? 😭 Corner of floor in new place

These tiny shiny bug parts were found in the corner under bathroom door trim.
Also noticed brown spots on the floor that streaked with the first swipe of the mop.

Bedbugs? Fleas? Neither? 😭 We haven't moved in yet thankfully.

Please tell me it's not a bed bug

I'm going to throw up. I'm at a friends house i stayed for three nights and I'm leaving in 10 minutes. I don't want to take them home with me. I'm driving 5 hours to get home today. What should I do? I have a lot of stuff and it would take a while to wash everything. Can I go home and wash everything there? I'm SO scared of bugs. If I go in my car would they stay there and still eventually get into my house? I'm freaking out I really just wanna go home. Please please help me. I'm sorry I couldn't get a better picture I was shaking.

Are these signs of bed bugs?

This is in an apartment where I moved to, and my landlord is denying there are any bed bugs. Whereas I’m getting consistently bitten, and my doctor confirmed that the bites are from bed bugs indeed.

Just checked into hotel. Bedbugs?

I’m looking over the beds for signs of bedbugs. I can’t take the mattress cover off but this one seems to have various blood looking stains.

Is this what I think it is?

Having someone over

I’ve been dealing with BB for about two weeks and it’s really impacting my emotional well being. I have cats so I’m limited in pest control services/products but have been using DE, steam heat, heat drying, and bagging. Both my mattress and box spring are in protectors. I’m still getting bites but reminding myself that this takes time. It sounds silly but not having my partner over is a huge disruption to the normalcy of my life and contributes to me feeling inherently dirty (of course they’re supportive and not saying anything like that.) How long after seeing no bugs and having no bites should I wait to have my partner sleep over?

Steam cleaner works

I’ve had issues with chemicals - they didn’t work. I tried all kinds.

One day, I was using steam to clean a window and accidentally killed a bedbug. Then I noticed a hole and directed the steam into it. That turned out to be their nest, and it killed most of them. Since then, I’ve been using steam, and it does work.

This is just for your information. If you’re dealing with this issue, you can try it. It will definitely help. The only problem is that you need to keep less furniture and avoid excess stuff, because that’s where they tend to live.

Help with preventing bringing bed bugs into house after travel

Hi,

We were just on vacation and stayed at two different 4* resort and woke up on our second (of three days) day of the second hotel with what looks to be bed bug bites. We thorough checked the room we were currently staying in and found no evidence of them. We are assuming it was the first hotel at this point. We ordered a thermal strike heater that was at our house when we got home.

We got home yesterday and stripped off our old clothes before coming inside house and put on clean clothes. Went back to the garage and took luggage out of car, put one load into thermal strike (stuffed animals, things that can’t go into dryer) and let that run. Got to over 120F for an hour and as hot as 140F. My husband put his clothes through the dryer then washed and dried again on highest heat setting. I saw a brown not moving fleck when I went to empty first load from thermal strike but couldn’t tell if it was dead bug or something else. So left the same load in there and let it cycle again and got to over 120F again for over an hour and as hot as 127F. Turned it off as I was paranoid to leave running while we were sleeping. Have left a separate change of clothes in garage to use while sorting luggage that will throw in wash/dryer when done.

We did put some things in ziploc bags in the freezer (a couple souvenirs and shoes) that I wasn’t sure were heat safe and bagged electronics into ziploc bags and put in our bathtub until I knew better what to do with them.

Our big suitcases are still sealed shut in the garage. I can’t leave shut forever but just wanted to make sure I was having an okay process before continuing to work though what we brought home.

Thank you!

Thrifted a bed and got bedbugs

Hi, i thrifted a bed on Facebook marketplace and got bedbugs from it, i've washed everything, put diatomaceous earth everywhere, sprayed my room and encased my matress, the bed was in my room for about 4/5 days before i started treatment but i now haven't been bitten in 3 days, it's been a bit over a week since i got the bed. Does that mean that i'm kinda fine? i ordered a steam cleaner and will treat the bed when it arrives and I haven't seen any live bugs. I've only seen 2 dead ones on my initial bedding and a tiny bit of shedding? does that mean that it is just a small infestation? do you guys have advice?

also the bed is metal but the box spring was wood

Is it?

Is it?

Just scurried out of an amazon box that had been sitting unopened in my house for a week. What do we think?

Didn’t know we had them till we were infested

I live with my parents and sister. My dad has been itching and breaking out in hives for about 2-3 weeks now. We thought it was seasonal changes bothering him because my mom sleeps in the same bed and was not getting bit. My sister wasn’t experiencing anything and neither was I. Genuinely thought my dad was just having allergies or something.

All of a sudden, yesterday, my mom sees 3 bed bugs back to back while she’s reading in bed (my dad hadn’t come in yet) and pulls back the pillow to find a shit ton of them. Strips the bed, more, everywhere.

My sister tore her room apart and found just one.

I tore the couch and living room apart and found nothing.

But the state of my parents room is insane.

I am so sad because I love all my clothes and feel like I have to throw everything out or something. Or wash everything on high heat which will ruin most of it.

We’ve been spraying and washing everything. I just wanted to complain because I truly understand this can happen to anyone. But fuuuuck why meeee.
