Did I do a good job at fucking this up?
I bet this thing handles like a brick covered in lube and if the ammo detonated would wipe out a small mountain range.
I feel bad for making this. I feel shame.
Almost lost my favourite pilot... they had bulwark and was in cover when they got hit too!
I had full armour on the head, quite lucky I never feel the need to skimp out, unlike in the MW games.
400 dam+ melee, M.A.S.C +40% Movement , Armor 1150!
UAC/20(c) opens holes in armor, MRM30/Apollo exploit those holes and destroy the insides and 2 X ER M LASER.
+FCS Lokation Designator (key addition) and ECM
It has mobility like a Midium and firepower like Superheavy !
This is my most effective design....
What do you think about this and what is your most effective design?
After playing HBS Battletech at launch, I've been enjoying the heck out of BTAU over the last month or so. Still I have a few questions that I couldn't find on the wiki. And yeah, I do know there's a discord but I generally don't discord.
#1 How does recoil work?
#2 I thought movement speed followed tabletop rules, but I saw a 375 rated engine on a 75 ton mech gives a 5 walk/7 sprint speed instead of a 5/8. Meanwhile, a 350 rated engine on a 70 ton mech gives 5/8 as expected. Also a 300 ton engine on a 100 ton mech gives 3/4 instead of 3/5. Is there a formula for how this is supposed to work?
#3 Is getting involved in flareups really worth it? The loot crates at the end always seem underwhelming.
#4 How can you tell how close a planet is to being taken over during a flareup? I understand the forces number but there seems to be "Weakened their hold" on a planet after the flareup resolves vs occupy it.
#5 My captain's been injured for half a year in game days. Though I always keep more than two million in cbills around, I can't seem to proc the prosthetic event to fix him. Is there something else I'm missing?
#6 In tabletop there was a disadvantage if you did a called shot, particularly for the head, and in general it'd be harder to hit. Is there any reason not to do a called shot to the head besides the enemy being more damaged elsewhere?
Thanks
Playing BTA mod. What am I missing?
I have it loaded with a mix of clan and regular flamers and a pilot who digs in after melee. But I miss kicks 100% of the time leaving his ass blowing in the wind b/c no DR either when you miss.
| Mech | Medium Range Damage | Role |
|---|---|---|
| Anni-C | 480 | Heavy Sniper |
| Anni-G | 540 | Heavy Sniper |
| Supernova | 552 | Mid-range Bruiser |
| Warhawk | 468 | Mid-Long Firepower |
| Timberwolf | 300 | Indirect-Fire Flanker |
| Mad Dog | 360 | Indirect-Fire Flanker |
| Thanatos | 360 | Scout Killer |
These are some of my heaviest hitters. I tend to value speed (when I can), long-range firepower and heat neutrality as much as possible. I have other specialized mechs for different missions, but these guys end up on almost every drop.
I'm in the late-game of BTA3062 and I have spent over $4 Billion credits. I don't have time to play very much, so I just give myself all the money possible with the save editor and then put my rank with a faction at 100 in order to ally with them.
Why?
Because I'm doing a Wolf's Dragoons playthrough where I circle the inner sphere, allying with every faction as I travel through their space. I'm hoovering up every interesting mech, weapon and technology I can because this tech tree is so frikkin' huge that I would never be able to explore it otherwise in my IRL natural life.
And you know what? It's still awesome. Because clan tech is usually impossible to buy, I'm still gathering most of it through salvage and have finally built an 8-mech, all-clan heavy/assault lance allowing me to take on 5 skull clan missions.
I got my ass handed to me on the Union Busting mission when I was half this strong so I'm looking forward to going back after those drop ships.
Pro-tip: buy those missions anytime they become available so that you always have a travel contract back to that part of space should you ever want to use it.
For now, I'm still in Kurita space, entering the clan wedge in a drive to the major planets in both the clan invasion and the civil war. I look forward to playing missions on those famous planets.
Mackie: Assault sniper; callsign "Torch".
Catapult: Hybrid sniper; callsign "Trinity".
Kintaro: Hybrid artillery; callsign "Enka".
I kept people alive so long. Then some artillery happy Alliance Worlders just had to ultra focus my boy Mamba.
I kept him so far from the front line, but they could still sensor ping him from like 1200 meters away. Such bullshit.
RIP Mamba, you were a... dude who drove artillery real good...
Hello!
It's that time of the year when i get the itch to go at some battletech again. Since this would be like the third time I was looking to add some spice to the campaign. I like playing the campaign because i like the sense of progression "tiered" with the story missions, and also because cutscene and dialogue help getting me immersed.
So, getting to the point, I was looking for some mod that change the armory to be a bit more involved. I was looking forward to use something like MechEngineer, but I read around that it doesn't really work by itself, and is only bundlend in mods like BTA/RT that do not support the campaign.
So I came to the collective to ask for suggestions. To clarify, while more content is nice, I'm really looking for something that gets me more involved with mech customization, not just piles of different stuffs to sift through.
I've gone through the thread history and it has conflicting info:
The wiki states a master unit is necessary:
https://www.bta3062.com/index.php?title=C3
This thread states only the slave units are needed:
https://www.reddit.com/r/Battletechgame/comments/14znu3n/bta_3062_explain_c3_to_me_like_im_stupid/
I also, I just encountered the first "master" c3 alpha unit in my playthru during against jade falcon. I selected it in the salvage, but it's not visible in my inventory. Is it called something else in storage?
With the end of the game, the Iberia crashed into Coromodir and caused a minor ice age, and at that point the MoC likely will maintain a friendly, but not exactly committed to continued funding of the Aurgians.
Any one got any lore / forum post from the GMs over at battletech lore folks (IE the guys running the show) or from later sources (like the mountain of random ass fiction from shrapnel to ilclan era TROs) as to wtf happened after.
Like all was quiet until the clan invasion, which the powers down south just breathed a sigh of relief, but then by 3050s you got the Trinity alliance, where by well Liaos, Taurians and the MoC all team up out of necessity (vs the FedComs / Fed Suns / FWL - Blackists?)
At that point, I'd imagine who ever is running it (is it still Kamea?) would likely try and get help from the FedCom/FedSuns or the FWL, or even the Wobbies because well that was what caused the break up of Trinity Alliance as Taurians wanted help from Word of Blake.
Then, when that brouhaha blew over, the Front Reaches and Calderon Protectorate happens (and Filtvelt Coalition near by later on), which kind of is what I think would happen with the Aurigans, where the major powers are too busy elsewhere due to the Jihad and everything else to care, and the regional players didn't want to dedicate their limited resources to try and do anything beyond diplomacy.
So anything? Like the region becomes a hotbed of action and all, and seems to be forgotten about until the dark age era like everything else not nuked by the wobbies, but had a ton of small states pop up.
I've been doing a lot of opfor clan missions lately and 25-50% of their mechs have battle armor attached. Not a big deal, except for when they detach the battle armor outside of a swarm attack. Once the BA and Mech share the same hex, the game won't let me direct fire target either one. Example in the screen shot below.
I have line of sight to the Jade mech and BA, but can't target either one. It reverts to normal in the next turn, but seems like a cheesy way for the AI to avoid damage.
For some reason, indirect fire works, but only for the BA. I still can't target the mech.
Am I crazy for using a 95 ton mech that is built almost the same as a 70 ton mech, only real differences are 500 more points of armor and 2 tons more ammo: Bull Shark (+15% sprint) vs Novacat (50% less chance to take a crit).
I almost always sprint for movement to get that EVA.
4 UAC/5s is the only loadout, pilot is T-Bone from the BTA Team.
Edit: Engine is upgraded in the Bull Shark to same speed as the Novacat.
